20 F-16s to Morsi´s Egypt

Key lawmakers expressing concerns about the Obama administration´s plan to send 20 F-16 fighter jets to Egypt, where new President Mohamed Morsi´s allegiances are as uncertain as his grip on power. Under a foreign aid deal signed in 2010, when Morsi´s U.S.-friendly predecessor Hosni Mubarak was in charge, the U.S. is giving the planes to Egypt´s air force, which already has more than 200 of the aircraft. The first four jets are to be delivered beginning Jan. 22, a source at the naval air base in Fort Worth, where the planes have been undergoing testing, told FoxNews.com.

With Obie there is no rational reason. Unless you examine his dark side, which is increasingly coming into view.

Can he simply "gift" F-16s? And to a dictator who already has 200 of the same aircraft?

"The U.S.-Egypt defense relationship has served as the cornerstone of our broader strategic partnership for over thirty years," said Lt. Col. Wesley Miller. "The delivery of the first set of F-16s in January 2013 reflects the U.S. commitment to supporting the Egyptian military´s modernization efforts. Egyptian acquisition of F-16s will increase our militaries´ interoperability, and enhance Egypt´s capacity to contribute to regional mission sets."

Delusional.

Exactly who are these are these aircraft intended to fight?
Is there any real external threat to Egypt?
Or are just tipping the balance of power against Israel?

There is something I am not understanding. Doesn´t the House hold the pursestrings? Why do they just refuse to pay for this kind of BS?

"Question"? "Question," you say?

Only if it´s become a synonym for "terminate...."

No problem, the only ones that can fly them really don´t like Morsi or the Muslimes Brotherhood so they will be put to good use...

Lots of made up words in the Lt. Col.´s statement.

What about the tanks we are supplying too? This is just Obama gifting his muslim brothers from the US Treasury.

Reply 11 - Posted by: Crosscut, 12/11/2012 8:30:45 PM     (No. 9060547)

This is nuts. Eventually our own AF will most likely be blasting these very aircraft out of the sky.

Reply 12 - Posted by: Scribelus, 12/11/2012 8:43:25 PM     (No. 9060556)

Those aircraft would be put to proper use by the Israel Defense Force.

@4 I´ve been asking/pleading for an answer for almost 4 years. None yet. I always wonder if Zippy paid out of his stimulus fund but probably not. That´s on deposit somewhere, along with the billion he raised while out campaigning.

Isn´t it a little late to be asking that question ? Will they utimately be used against Israel ?

Sounds like an impeachable offense to me. If I were the leadership of the House Republicans I would start drawing up the papers. Let´s see how that would affect fiscal cliff negotiations.

Actually F16´s have not been produced for a long time, maybe these are not ´new´ ones. If they are old and used ... and we are getting hard currency from them .... they can´t do anything to the current stealth fleet, they can´t even see them, maybe this is a good trade in spite of my hatred of the obama administration.

Reply 17 - Posted by: LanieLou, 12/12/2012 3:30:45 AM     (No. 9060847)

Question ???? Why not Stop it! They aren´t buying them... we are gifting them. Obozo is arming The Muslim Brotherhood and their military arm, Al Qaeda.

Douglas Shulman, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, said today he was “dismayed and saddened” that his agency had improperly targeting conservative groups, but declined to offer a direct apology and dismissed suggestions that he mislead Congress. The testimony from Shulman, who was making his first public appearance since the IRS controversy broke into the open two weeks ago, did not satisfy members of the Senate Finance Committee. He faced more than three hours of stern questioning from Democrats and Republicans, but said “I don’t believe I was aware” when asked why he had not informed Congress

For a "failed scandal," Fast and Furious sure brought out the heavy hitters at the Department of Justice to deal with a whistleblower. The department´s inspector general has released a report accusing one US attorney, Dennis Burke, of leaking a document that smeared John Dodson, a key witness in the Fast and Furious scandal, and accusing other officials in the department of coming up with a strategy to discredit him. Breitbart: The DOJ IG said it found "Burke´s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney."

Officials in the White House discussed how and when the Internal Revenue Service would tell the public that the agency had targeted political groups, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday. Carney said that Mark Childress, the White House deputy chief of staff, twice spoke with officials at the Treasury Department about the strategy for revealing conservative targeting. Childress and the Treasury officials discussed the possibility that Lois Lerner, the IRS official who oversaw the agency´s tax-exempt organization, would reveal that an inspector general´s investigation had found

Devastated families are frantically searching for their young children after an elementary school was flattened by a monster two-mile wide tornado in Moore, Oklahoma on Monday, leaving dozens dead. Initial reports said as many as 91 people could have been killed in the tragedy, but officials confirmed on Tuesday morning there have been 24 deaths, including nine children and four in Oklahoma City. They explained that some had originally been counted twice amid the chaos. Officials, who warned that the death toll could rise, said 237 people were injured in the storm and that searches are continuing

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia can finally agree on something. "He called me a whiner. He´s probably right," Garcia told Golf.com on Monday at the start of the week of the BMW PGA Championship in England. "But that´s also probably the first thing he´s told you guys that´s true in 15 years. I know what he´s like. You guys are finding out." On the same day that Tiger Woods uttered one word -- "No" -- to quickly dismiss the possibility of making amends over the pair´s verbal sparring during the Players Championship, the Spaniard kept swinging at

A federal court in San Francisco Tuesday struck down Arizona´s ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law violates a string of U.S. Supreme Court rulings starting with Roe v. Wade that guarantees a woman´s right to an abortion before a fetus is able to survive outside the womb. That´s generally considered to be about 24 weeks. Normal pregnancies run about 40 weeks. Several states have enacted similar bans starting at 20 weeks. But the 9th Circuit´s ruling is binding only in the nine Western states

CBS News has a piece quietly mocking a Benghazi whistleblower for writing poetry in a classic example of how the MSM marginalizes opponents of Barack Obama: Raymond Maxwell, who was one of Hillary Clinton’s State Department officials who was disciplined for security lapses vis-à-vis Benghazi, has been writing poetry since he was put on leave. Significantly, some of the poetry deals with Maxwell’s frustration at being made a scapegoat: The web of lies they weave / gets tighter and tighter / in its deceit / until it bottoms out - / at a very low frequency - / and implodes...

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
