| Looking at the concrete barricades the Egyptian military have thrown up around the presidential palace in Cairo, you get the distinct impression that the country´s top brass have President Mohammed Morsi precisely where they want him. Until the overthrow of former President Hosni Mubarak nearly two years ago (an event I lamented at the time), Egypt´s military establishment had effectively run the country since Abdul Gamal Nasser came to power in the 1950s. Turkey´s leader purged the top military and has turned the country onto the sharia road of government. Morsi purged egypt´s military and is trying to put his country on that same road.
The USA has, in the past few months, purged its military of quite a lot of its leaders. And the continuing attacks on our Constitution are ramping up. Wonder where the USA is headed?

Morsi better watch his back...the Military doesn´t take demands very well.
I´ll give Morsi 6 months at best before the Generals take him out!

What was the reason you gave up watching the BBC´s Late Review (or Newsnight Review as it then became) or the BBC Review Show as it now is? For me it was the regular guest called Ekow Eshun. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
