It’s a new, $63-per-head fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions under President Obama’s health care overhaul. The charge, buried in a recent regulation, works out to tens of millions of dollars for the largest companies, employers say. Most of that is likely to be passed on to workers. Anyone think the fee will actually be phased out? It will be easy to ratchet it up, and up, and up as Obamacare creates huge spending spikes.

The Democrat who implicated two members of the liberal super PAC Progress Kentucky in the secret taping of a campaign strategy meeting for Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell is changing his story. Jacob Conway, a member of the Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee, said Friday he might have talked to only one of the men he accused, according to The Courier-Journal. Conway told the newspaper he is certain he talked with volunteer Curtis Morrison about the recording, but might not have spoken with Executive Director Shawn Reilly, contradicting what he said a day earlier.

During this year´s Conservative Political Action Conference, the American Conservative Union paraded its star lineup of African Americans who share their political philosophy. They were featured as a “stunning array of speakers from the African American community.” But in reality, they are not known by black America, with the exception of Dr. Benjamin Carson and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The problem that conservatives face when featuring these people is that even though they are black, they are not in tune with African Americans. They do not share the struggles, frustrations and everyday problems of the community they claim to represent.

She also is charged with illegal voting in 2008 and 2011. The 58-year-old veteran Cincinnati poll worker, indicted Monday, faces eight counts of voter fraud. When Democrats in the Texas House met in late January to elect Rep. Yvonne Davis of Dallas as their leader by the slimmest of margins, she promised to listen to their voices and not to unelected outsiders, specifically, Houston Democratic benefactor Steve Mostyn. Almost immediately, the phone of the successful plaintiff´s lawyer lit up with text messages from lawmakers lamenting the remarks of the woman they had just elected as their leader. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
