Gerard Depardieu moves to tiny tax haven

French film star Gerard Depardieu has moved into his new ´tax exile´ mansion in Belgium - just 800 yards from the border with France. The 64-year-old actor´s lavish home in the village of Nechin - on a street known as Millionaire´s Row - is less than two minutes drive from the French town of Roubaix. Depardieu is the latest wealthy Frenchman fleeing a looming new tax of 75 per cent on all earnings over one million euros - about £850,000.

Comments:
So next year, Hollande will be collecting EU0.00 from Depardieu.

Poliicians steal from the few to buy votes from the moocher classes. All you need is half of the people to mooch, and to hell with the rest. It is getting harder than ever to respect these tax thieves. Harder to care if they are safe.

I wonder how any libs will leave LaLa Land when the taxes hit them? A lot if them already have their primary residences in states with lower taxes. They are all a bunch of libtards!

How about that? With the stroke of a pen, M. Hollande turned M. Depardieu into M. Depart-o.

Gerard? Bonne chance mon ami.

FTA: France´s richest man Bernard Arnault revealed this summer that he had applied for Belgian citizenship

Uhhh, Bernard likes waffles more than truffles? What?

[I sure enjoyed M. Depardieu in "GreenCard" and "My Father the Hero," which I watched many times with my daughter.]

Where is the tax haven where we Americans can move to avoid Obama´s oppressive taxes?

(Hint ... answer is nowhere. The USA taxes its citizens whereever in the world they live.)

Another flaming liberal dodging the very system they vote & campaign for. Wonder what tiny corner of the world our Hollywood liberals will move to when they get the socialism they have championed here? I´m sure the Swiss bank accounts are multiplying as I type -- ahead of Obama´s new tax code that starts Jan 1st.

P.S. re #4 -- you must watch him in Manon of the Spring where he plays a misfit hunchback trying to make a go of a rabbit farm on the French countryside with his beautiful bride & only daughter. Yves Montand also starred in a rare cameo part. It has a sequel that I can´t remember the title of (something something "Floret") or maybe the "Spring" film is the sequel. Both films are wonderful. They both illustrate the snobbishness of the French (& it´s a French film!).

#1, who the heck are the Turnpike Troubadours and why should anyone care? Ok, you like their music--good for you....but what does that have to do with that commie Hollande and Depardieu moving to avoid the taxes?????

You see why these totalitarian tyrant UN/CFR/TLC types are pushing so hard for a one-world governance....they want to stop the other millionaires (that are not part of their elite group, their friends or family) from fleeing. They want control over everyone´s life and make us all slaves to the special, chosen elite in permanent power. It is worse than the old feudalism...it is evil and has more in common with Stalin and Hitler, than the Kings and Queens of olden days...

Hasn´t the same thing happened here from people moving from Mass. to New Hampshire? Has that stopped Mass. from raising taxes.

People have to understand that raising taxes is baked into a liberal´s brain no matter how obvious the reverse consequences are. If they went for lower taxes, they would be admitting that republican ideas work and that will never happen. Just look at how mad the Slimes is at Texas for giving businesses incentives to move there. They want people stuck in failure.

Here´s what I think about the Hollywood & Sports celebrities who push socialism on us while dodging paying their fair share. Most are:

1) spoiled by their parents because they were the oh-so-talented "star" of their family
2) further spoiled by Hollywood/Media/their Handlers
3) flunked or skipped their Gov & Poli-Sci classes while getting their "educations"
4) feel enormous guilt that they get to play for a living while making tens of millions annually
5) are too selfish & undisciplined to part with it themselves
6) turn to government to force them to do it, while loathing "big business" to feel better about themselves.

MINNEAPOLIS — Even as President Obama and progressive activists are trying to sell the nation on hiking the national minimum wage to help restaurant workers and other low-wage employees, the Internal Revenue Service is seemingly determined to make life harder for those same workers. A change in tax policy implemented Jan. 1 will prevent restaurant workers from collecting automatic gratuities — the added 18 percent fee many restaurants charge to groups of eight or more — as part of their tips. Instead, that added fee will be included in their payroll, meaning workers have to wait up to two weeks

This week Obamacare passed an unflattering milestone. As of today, the Obama administration has spent longer botching the implementation of Obamacare than the Roosevelt and Truman administrations spent fighting and winning the Second World War. America’s involvement in World War II began on December 7, 1941, with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. It ended 1,365 days later on September 2, 1945, with the surrender ceremony aboard the U.S.S. Missouri anchored in Tokyo Bay. President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010. Today, December 18, 2013, marks the 1,366th day of post-enactment Obamacare implementation.

The number of children taking powerful antipsychotic drugs has nearly tripled over the last 10 to 15 years, according to recent research. The increase comes not because of an epidemic of schizophrenia or other forms of serious mental illness in children, but because doctors are increasingly prescribing the drugs to treat behavior problems, a use not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). And a disproportionate number of those prescriptions are written for poor and minority children, some as young as age 2. Doctors are prescribing antipsychotics even though there’s minimal evidence that the drugs help kids for approved

DUBAI - Iran is moving ahead with testing more efficient uranium enrichment technology, a spokesman for its atomic energy agency said on Saturday, in news that may concern world powers who last month agreed a deal to curb Tehran´s atomic activities. Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi was quoted by state news agency IRNA as saying that initial testing on a new generation of more sophisticated centrifuges had been completed, underlining Iran´s determination to keep refining uranium (snip) Some experts believe the IR-2m can enrich uranium 2-3 times faster than the IR-1.

OSLO - Scientists have produced hydrogen by accelerating a natural process found in rocks deep below the Earth´s surface, a short-cut that may herald the wider use of what is a clean fuel, a study showed on Sunday. Used in rockets and in battery-like fuel cells, hydrogen is being widely researched as a non-polluting fuel, but its use is so far hampered by high costs. A few hydrogen vehicles are already on the roads, such as the Honda FXC Clarity and Mercedes-Benz F-Cell, and more are planned. Researchers in France said aluminum oxide speeded up a process by which hydrogen

Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it
