Dem lawmakers plead with
Mich. governor to veto
right-to-work bill

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Kevin Bogardus

Congressional Democrats on Monday pleaded with Gov. Rick Snyder (R) to veto legislation that would make Michigan a right-to-work state. Senior lawmakers met with Snyder in Detroit and urged him not to sign the law on union dues, which has moved quickly through the lame-duck session of the Republican-controlled Michigan Legislature over the vocal opposition of labor leaders. Ratification would make Michigan — the stronghold of organized labor — the 24th state in the country to pass right-to-work legislation that bans required payment of union dues. Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.)

Comments:
Good luck with that! Let the Democrats wail and scream all they want.

Democrats are complaining that the law was passed by a lame-duck Legislature? Do they recall how Obamacare was passed?

Payback´s a distaff canine, isn´t it?

Hard working people should not be required (forced) to give a portion of their paycheck to lecherous union slugs.

The gall of these anti-American rats is breathtaking. I wish them NOTHING but the absolute worst that could happen to them and their unions....

I won´t be surprised if The Won tries to veto it.

Unions, and their rules drive companies(jobs) to other states and countries. These protestors only show their own greed and ignorance.

Not gonna happen. Everyone has a RIGHT TO WORK without having to belong to a union of THUGS!

Is this the way Unions want to retain power, thugery? I´ll answer for them...YES!

Forcing workers against their will to have money ripped out of their paycheck and spent on liberal causes, hmm, reminds me of something else, now what could that be?

Rick Snyder ~ as you may or may not recall ~ was not endorsed by the Republican Party ~ He has no political debts. He is an accountant and knows how to make money ~ The State needs more freedom for would be employers to come here to Michigan. This law will make Michigan less intimidating to prospective employers. Thank You Rick Snyder !

I love hearing dems squeal like stuck pigs over this. Kinda like Ned Beatty in Deliverance.

´Bout time, as the average worker has been screwed long enough by the unions and their democratic enablers.

Reply 11 - Posted by: redmom, 12/10/2012 3:19:03 PM     (No. 9058123)

When Michigan voters see jobs and new hope flock to their state, the Democrats will lose it for decades. Michigan is a beautiful state that has been destroyed by unions and most of all, the stupid democrats that have run it.

Besides, we all know if the shoe were on the other foot, the democrats would never cave. Obamacare is proof.

Reply 12 - Posted by: oh-heck, 12/10/2012 3:22:09 PM     (No. 9058131)

Political activists are encouraged to donate to the union in lieu of one of the workers in the state.

If Snyder vetoes this he can join Ex-Republicans In Exile, a group founded by Charlie Crist. They are so undesirable and detestable they eventually join the dems where they find kindred spirits and good fellowship.

Governor Snyder asked the unions not to back several proposals on the ballot that would limit the ability of the Government to govern. He warned that if the proposals failed, he would take it as a mandate that the people didn´t want those proposals. The unions not only backed the proposals, but went in whole-hog with $Millions. The proposals lost anyway, and Governer Snyder is doing what he said he would do.

Governor Snyder is undoing years of Democrat-induced, anti-taxpayer, anti-business constipation, one step at a time.

The Republicans in the 111th Naggy Pelosi/Harry Reid controlled Congress and 64% of Americans pleaded with Democrats not to pass Obamacare in 2010 too.

How does it feel democrats?

If Synder veto`s this bill he is toast. This would further relegate the republican party to the ash heap of history.

I´ve always wondered how my ex-home state, California, remains a right-to-work state. Perhaps that won´t last much longer under Guv Moonbeam and the Moonbat 11.

If the Union is adding value, they will be able to solicit voluntary dues payment. If not, they will fail.

I don´t believe California is a right to work state. When I lived there I was forced to join a union.

Snyder won´t veto it. While he didn´t champion the initiative, he´s already said he would sign it if it came across his desk.

In 2007, then Senator Barack Obama appeared on CNN´s Larry King Live and called on U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign. Obama said Gonzales was acting more like the president´s attorney than the people´s attorney and viewed himself as an "enabler of the administration." "Well, I voted against Alberto Gonzales confirmation for precisely the reason we are seeing now. I said this on the floor of the senate, that although he seemed to be a capable attorney, he seemed to conceive his role as being the president´s attorney instead of being the people´s attorney," Obama said.

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

The way to prevent abortionists like convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell from occurring again is to build more Planned Parenthood clinics, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Thursday about legislation that would prevent abortion after 20 weeks nationwide. “I would urge my colleagues to think about the extent to which he, Dr. Gosnell, represented the poor quality of health care services available in poorer communities,” Nadler said at the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing. “We should be working to make sure that high quality

House Speaker John A. Boehner on Thursday flatly ruled out chances of the House passing the Senate’s immigration bill, saying his chamber will debate its own bill instead. The Ohio Republican and his top lieutenants in the party issued a joint statement that seemed designed to tamp down some of the momentum behind the Senate bill, which emerged from a committee on a bipartisan 13-5 vote this week, and to stake out a House GOP position. “While we applaud the progress made by our Senate colleagues, there are numerous ways in which

During friendly questioning from Rep. Hank “I fear that Guam will capsize!” Johnson in Congress last week, Attorney General Eric Holder offered the following statement. In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. He made that statement before the facts about the sweep on Fox News’ James Rosen were known. Since then, it’s come to light that Holder himself approved the subpoena that, among other things, named Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator.

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence. Cuomo invited

The National Council of La Raza (translation: The Race) has partnered with the Office of Personnel Management to encourage Hispanic activists and members to burrow into the federal government. A workshop sponsored by La Raza/The Race will take place in New Orleans on July 23, 2013. Senior Executive Service (SES) employees are federal government employees in special executive management positions, often with salaries approaching $200,000 per year (and well past that with benefits). The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose
