There are changes that OH needs to make but this isn´t one of the. Cleaning up their voter rolls. Making sure a person is a legal resident of their state is another. A student attending college doesn´t count in my books. If you don´t qualify for in state tuition, you aren´t a legal resident to vote there either. This same day voter registration, voting is ripe for fraud. Republicans need to get a handle on this if we ever have a shot at winning again.

Don´´t do this. Purge your voter rolls and have people re-register. Eliminate "early voting" and restrict absentee ballots to those on Military Service or those with a VALID reason for the ballot.

This seems like the right way to make the electoral college system work as originally intended.

Every precinct should have their votes counted...winner takes all is a very bad way to do that, in fact it discriminates against voters not agreeing with the majority, a direct violation of the voter rights act!

So 50.0000001% of voters speaks for the whole state...BS!

Constitutionally the states can apportion their electoral votes anyway they see fit. Whle tinkering with time tested systems is always dangerous so is letting time warped systems continue.

The founders put the elctoral college in place to protect small states interests and it is a brilliant check and balance. That being said the founders never foresaw a time when the nations cities could so completely dominate the overall state vote that the rural residents were effectively disenfranchised.

But that is where we are at. I always laughed at the lefts calls for exactly this remedy after 2000. They would be the big loser here, imagine their ire at losing their lock on the CA/IL/NY surefire dem advantage? Or their complete shock to realize that flyover voters could have the same impact as their own plantation voters?

Maybe this should be thought through. As to gerrymandering, it wouldn´t get any worse, to have an impact the lefts safe inner city wards would have to be extended into the very dangerous suburban and rural areas.

The minutiae of the mathematical system is of no interest to me until the massive voter fraud is ended.

Gerrymandering is another form of corruption which must be replaced with an arbitrary system based on geographic quadrants not demographic patterns.

Our hands are not altogether clean in this matter.

Agree w/ OP. These folks need to take a look at how incredibly contorted Colorado Congressional districts are these days, thanks to two Democrat-chosen judges who, in the past two census cycles have put their own special stamp of approval on the districts. Nevermind the fact that the state constitution requires that the legislature do it - it was easier for Dems to find a sympathetic judge than do actually do their own jobs.

A windfall for Republicans if California did this: 10 or so electoral votes from LA and SF for the socialist candidate, the remaining 45 to the Republican.

If every congressional district in the country had the same approximate number of residents....this makes some sense to me. That would make them all equally valuable to a given candidate.

Any state that does this becomes a non-player in presidential politics. Regardless of size, the stakes are a few electoral college votes here and there. If that´s their choice...Ohio become New Hampshire. Virginia becomes Rhode Island.

I believe every state should drop the "winner takes all" system. California for an example. The "winner takes all" is won in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Now look and see where they have created their socialist utopian societies with the densest populations receiving social services (Welfare). It isn´t by coincidence, this is by design.
