The Great Secession

Is America too big? Is it time to break up the U.S.? A week after the November election nearly 700,000 Americans from all 50 states had signed 69 secession petitions as part of the White House "We the People" online petition system. The missives requested the administration to peacefully allow states to leave the union. One petition advocated permitting states which seceded to form their own nation. A formal White House review is triggered by just 25,000 signatures. Although President Obama´s reelection sparked the cascade of petitions, advocates cited other grounds. Daniel Miller, president of the Texas nationalist movement,

Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Finally, the notion of secession has hit the media outside the blogosphere. I was tired of being laughed at when I suggested this solution, which should have hit a while ago but better late....

The deep ideological chasm that splits this country is not reconcilable. It has gone too far and there really is no longer a middle ground on which to build some agreement as to purpose.

As America stands right now, it will fall to Communism and/or Dictatorship, then to decay. It cannot hold as presently constituted because the Left, half the population, don´t know about, care about or abide by, the Constitution, and continue to institute failed policies and governments that have never worked to make a nation properous with its people still free.

Please, God, let the Secession movement grow and be successful. Please.

"Rather than arguing about secession, it would be better to revive federalism."

And how do we do that? People dont understand federalism, the constitution, economics or business principles. How do you revive Federalism when Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, California, Massachusetts, Maryland and New Jersey have just about enough electoral votes between themselves to dictate presidential elections. How do you revive federalism when half the population doesn´t have a problem with socialism.

I´ve maintained for some time that saving the republic through the vote is no longer possible. And I believe that in order to restore the republic, it may be necessary to break it up. Let the blue states enact European style socialism while the red states re-implement the constitutional republic and lets see which country prospers.

The ultimate goal should always be eventual re-unification under a constitutional republic with the principles of free enterprise.

Talk of secession further advances the revulsion loyal Americans have felt for the individual holding the Oval office. A mass movement like that is needed to demonstrate that the appropriate level of hate.

Instead of secession, why don´t we talk of expelling some parts? Most of the country is "red." So, let´s just expell NYC, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Detroit. Then be very careful of who is allowed to immigrate.

Although most of leftist elite (in their own minds) pooh-pooh the secessionist movement regarding many of the states, Texas is the one they fear the most should it all happen. Texas is uniquely positioned to actually make a go of it because of the abundance of natural resources, seaports and airports, and it has it´s own power grid, a very important point. The communists infesting Washington DC cannot simply turn off the power here.

And if LA, OK, and a few other surrounding states were to join us, it would be an imposing situation. You can bet that the Obama SS Corp (Adolph Axlegrease et al) are well aware of the threat that would impose on their kingdom. Should any of several states begin to get serious about forming their own nation, expect Central Politiburo action; quick, violent retributive action.

Don´t think this administration doesn´t notice this sentiment bubbling up from real America. To show their concern, I´ll bet they´ve recorded all 700,000 signatures and kept them in a file to contact at a later date.

The country was never really restored after the Civil War, only reconstructed forcibly. The Alinskites know this and are driving the wedge into that poorly healed scar. They can´t exist unless there is an enemy to ridicule and to blame.

Even an idiot like Obambi could look at a map and figure that Louisiana could never be allowed to secede. The Mississippi would then be controlled by a non US territory and the havoc that would be caused to hard core socialist states like Illinois and Minnesota could not be allowed. Wish there was secession so those of us that over freedom and independence could once again experience it.

Secession doesn´t work in this case. The problem is not with a State when it´s Electors were stolen by a few precincts in a couple of dense urban areas.Don´t give up Ohio for the sake of a couple of square miles of Cleveland.

We´ve hit the "50%" marker, where more the half the country is dependent on the government or one of it´s crony business entities.

Separation is the only realistic alternative to the Venezuelan-style morass we´re headed for.

I´d only suggest this: don´t use the word separation, call it "self-determination."

There is great discontent. How long will red states allow a few blue states to impose socialism, bankrupt the nation, and destroy the currency? The constitution required a federal republic, but there is no federalism now. Congress is ignored with executive orders. The country is ruled by an unelected bureaucracy appointed by the democrats.

An amicable split could save a bloody civil war. The ideological differences between left and right are too deep to be bridged without winners and losers. Splitting and remaining "friends" a la Canada or France would be preferable to forcing traditional Americans to accept open Marxism without going to guns.

Yes, I posted the piece, but in my opinion, discussion of real, actual secession is silliness. I know it feels good to speculate on the possibilities, but that´s just it. It´s not possible. There isn´t a state in the country without pockets of liberals and/or minorities. What would happen to those people? Take my home state of Texas, for example. We have Dallas, Houston and Austin. Those cities would never agree to or vote for secession. Then, there is our large Hispanic population. I´m not sure many of them would vote to secede.

It´s fun to kick around the idea, but in our current real world, there just isn´t any way it could happen.

It shouldn´t be states, it should be voting districts. If secession happens, state boundaries need to be re-formed. For example, California. A narrow strip of land adjacent to the Pacific Ocean is communist. The rest of the state is middle-of-the-road conservative. They should be able to secede from the coast. Upstate New Yorkers should be able to secede from NYC/Long Island. Michiganders should be able to secede from Detroit, etc. I don´t think the federal government could stop secession this time. Let´s get on with it.

I agree with Stormy on this one. No way will this happen. Only hope is to let some time pass and pray. Might sound like a lame way to be but we really cannot win politically. The gimme´s are in charge and the Repubs are without a real leader. Revival among black, whites, Hispanic, Asian, men, women and children would end much of the divisions. It matters not who the President is if the people are on fire for God.

#22 explains part of the picture and I agree, certainly about NY state, but before it goes this far how about we start with 2 ideas. No lawyer can be a ´lawmaker.´ They exempt themselves and because they are lawyers how argue for the highest bidder, they are tools for corruption. Idea number two is term limits. They are supposed to be public servants, not pandering hacks who vote endless perks for themselves and make a career of it. I know, a dream that will never happen. On the other hand, a lot of things are actually happening that I thought would never happen, so who knows?

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will leave Tuesday for a four-nation trip to Asia, looking to recharge a focus on the region, an ambitious initiative that’s been sidetracked by domestic politics and international conflicts elsewhere. Yet even as Obama attempts to boost his effort to emphasize U.S. interest in Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intervention in Ukraine is complicating efforts to reassure Asian nations _ which share the region with an increasingly assertive China - that the U.S. is committed to their security. The administration’s efforts to refocus U.S. policy toward Asia were already being questioned in the region with the departure

One of the Obama administration’s favorite themes is the idea that Republicans have been waging a “war on women.” Though Democrats may overestimate the appeal of this canard, the notion that troglodyte conservatives seek to send American women back to the 19th century has become a form of conventional wisdom, especially in the liberal mainstream media. But though that war is a piece of fakery rooted in the confusion between political liberalism and gender equality, there is little doubt about the reality of another war on women: the one that is being waged by left-wing ideologues against any female Republican

Turning the tables remains the first refuge of liars called on their mendacity. “I was hurt,” Elizabeth Warren relays in her new autobiography, “and I was angry.” The second-year senator speaks of her 2012 political opponent using her claims of Native American ancestry against her during the campaign. Elizabeth Warren could pass for Bull Connor’s sister. She couldn’t pass for Sitting Bull’s second cousin five times removed. So when the 2012 debate descended into genealogists arguing over whether Warren’s great-great-great grandmother was or wasn’t partly Cherokee, the law-professor-turned-candidate winning the question meant that she had already lost it. Timing is everything in politics and the latest Fox News poll suggests the timing of the 2014 midterm election could not be worse for President Obama and his fellow Democrats. With public approval of Congress in the single digits, senators and representatives in both parties may face the most challenging political environment of their careers. But the Fox survey makes clear that things aren´t breaking well for Obama, either, and his popularity rating may be the most important factor in determining how Democrats fare in November. Presidents have been unpopular before. Harry Truman´s approval rating sank to 23 percent at

Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'
