| Washington — Hovering in the background of the "fiscal cliff" debate is the prospect of 2 million people losing their unemployment benefits four days after Christmas."This is the real cliff," said Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I. He´s been leading the effort to include another extension of benefits for the long-term unemployed in any deal to avert looming tax increases and massive spending cuts in January. "Many of these people are struggling to pay mortgages, to provide education for their children," Reed said this past week as President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio,

2 million people is .06% of the population (not counting our Mexican guests overstaying their welcome).
Did Mr Reed ask himself why these people are still jobless 99 weeks later? Couldn it have something to do with unions and Dem economic policy?

Not to mention the fact that it´s those mortgages that got us here in the first place.

In short the Rats demand that the GOP betray their base and cut their own throats politically, so that the Rad base is protected completely from the effects of their bad policies. Where is the skin in the game? The sad part is that the cry baby will probably go along and take the blame as well.

Obama just said all sectors of the economy are doing good. National unemployment at 7.7% and employers saying they´re planning on adding staff next year so we do we need more extensions? Manufacturers are saying they can´t find skilled workers despite the country spending billions on job training.Must be in buggy whip industries.
What these people need is a job skill not a handout. The workforce is becoming more specialized.I know a guy who makes $500-$1000 a week doing piddly jobs in brick stone, putting in floors bathrooms etc.

The Democrats are wanting a bailout of their failed economic policies by extending the already extended unemployment payments. At what point does unemployment become welfare? We´re stealing from our children and their children to pay for this since the government borrows 46 percent of whatever it spends.

More bloat to the bill. I have been warning, this is stimulus porkulous 2013. Mark my words, trillions in bailouts rescues, spending. It´s the Obama Dem way. The taxes won´t be for anything but more spending. No debt will be paid, the debt ceiling will be raised to infinity, and we have to pass the bill to know what´s in it.
Just do it already, sick of the threats, it will just be pushed through New Years Eve right before midnight, anyway.

The Republicans should support this and put stipulations on it that there be mandatory drug testing, mandatory training and it be reduced over time. Also partial support should be given if they get a job a lower rate than the previous job.
And the government needs to cut spending elsewhere to pay for it.

So 99 weeks (two years) isn´t enough time to ´find a job´...tough, let Obama take the hit for ruining the economy. The more we bail them out the better they do, how much sense does that make?

Since Obama keeps changing the deal, it is obvious that what he really wants is to go over the fiscal cliff. He is not negotiating; he is sending new order and desires out over the media every day. Who can keep up with them?

There is but one solution to reducing unemployment, and the Obama administration is totally opposed to it.
Create an environment where the private sector is comfortable hiring people.

Democrats want to pay people NOT to work.
Do they fund it from spending cuts? Do they fund it from more efficient government? Do they fund it from cutting pork?
No.
They want workers and employers to pay their dependent class NOT to work. They want to borrow more money and charge it to the American taxpayer. They want to operate Washington WITHOUT passing budgets as required by law.
Washington breaks the very laws that they inflict on us. When will everyone be required to follow the same laws we do?

Obama and Syria — this dog ain’t wagging. The Obama administration has reached the unenviable stage in which it’s almost impossible to determine where one scandal ends and another begins. The most recent case in point is President Obama’s decision to kinda sorta intervene in the Syrian civil war that is now in its third year.Consider the statement issued by the brother of CBS News president David Rhodes on Thursday. Ben Rhodes — who readers will remember played a major role in the political revisions to the CIA’s Benghazi talking points —

Former Vice President Dick Cheney sees Edward Snowden as a "traitor" for revealing classified information about U.S. surveillance programs and that he´s done some of the worst damage to national security in recent history. "I think he has committed crimes in effect by violating agreements given the position he had. He was a contractor employee, but he obviously was granted top secret clearance," Cheney said on "Fox News Sunday."

It described the author´s experience on a 2011 flight whose track is shown above: It was headed to Denver from Washington´s National Airport, but turned back after 20 minutes of flying time and made an unscheduled landing in Philadelphia.

Last week, The Guardian and The Washington Post got their hands on a big story about the National Security Agency and its alleged connection to a handful of giant tech companies. The bombshell stories in both publications carried the by-lines of experienced reporters. The Guardian’s Glenn Greenwald, a well-known political commentator who also holds a law degree, has been covering national security issues for nearly a decade, and the Post’s Barton Gellman is a Pulitzer Prize winner who has a distinguished record covering privacy and security issues.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
