| Despite receiving a slew of hate mail, All Saints Church in Pasadena is moving forward with a conference hosted by the Muslim Public Affairs Council — the first time the organization has conducted a national convention at a Christian church. (Snip) Salam al-Marayati, president of the Los Angeles-based Muslim council, said his organization is working with the Department of Homeland Security, FBI and local authorities to ensure the Dec. 15 event is safe. The gathering is expected to focus on the state of the American Muslim community. "The hatemongerers have made our convention relevant,

Comments: I would definitely not allow, or change "churches" if this were to be brought to my place of worship. Salam al-Marayati & his council have been accused of ties with the Muslim Brotherhood [terrorist organization], which he doesn´t deny. That he has the audacity to get our Homeland Security & FBI involved speaks volumes for who 0bama´s agencies are listening to on speed dial. This is a matter for local law einforcement, and to raise the level is to waste our valuable resources.

If you are a Christian, you do not "respect" other faiths as they are wrong. There is an obligation to peacefully convert them out of concern for their souls.

Yes, I am so sure that a Christian group would be so welcome to meet at the local mosque. Good grief, some Muslim countries won´t even allow churches to be built.

Susan Russell, the Episcopal Church´s off the charts left-wing darling of the sodomy crowd, and one of the many, including its "bishop" who have reduced ECUSA to nothing but a gaggle of religious anarchists busily selling off church property and pocketing the cash as enrollment in this losing institution continues to plummet, has no idea what she is doing, or with whom she is dealing. Inclusion indeed. These are fanatics who would just as well slit her throat as look at her.
And they will, given the chance.
Perhaps, one considers, no loss.

It´s an Episcopal Church on the rich side of white America.

A victory for the Slammies. All they need to do to drive home the message of "The Religion Of Peace" is to not set off the bomb belt.

Probably have to cover or remove all "Christian" artifacts or images. Other than that, everything should just be ducky.

The state of the American Muslim community is the same as all Muslim communities throughout the world - a violent overflowing caldron of hatred and rage ready to explode and commit genocide on its´ host country and neighbors at any moment.
It hates Jews. It hates Christians. It Hates Hindus. It hates Buddhists. Everything not like it must die.
There is no room on this planet for anything but Islam.

This is surely making Ishmael smile. On the other hand, Jesus is not looking at this as a good thing. The Muslims can have Ishmael. I will take Jesus.

#2, I thought only Evangelists were like that nowadays. It certainly isn´t a very accepting or tolerant view. It also seems inconsistent with the American way. Maybe that is why I prefer spirituality over man-made religion for myself.

When Muslims begin demonstrating peaceful and tolerant behavior, then I will believe their religion is peaceful and tolerant. Until then, I catagorize them as inhumane killers.

Their pastor says being gay is a gift from God. He also performs same sex marriages. That is a social justice activist group that meets in a former Christian place of worship, so they think they are a Church.

All silliness aside, #2´s post was very disturbing. On my drive to work there are at least four churches that have been abandoned or sold and converted into homes or businesses. The preacher at the church next to my house is pleased as punch if he gets a dozen people at his services. All are over 60 years old. The thinking behind that post may be why people are bailing out.

Re #6, All Saints is an extremely liberal church in a community that is very mixed, has every economic level, a fair number of Hispanics, a large black northwest area. It has always been and continues to be mostly middle class. You could not characterize Pasadena, California, as a rich white area..... unless you lived somewhere else and didn´t know better.

Washington - A key committee in the Republican-led House has taken up a tough enforcement-focused immigration bill, but the proceedings were immediately interrupted by protesters shouting "Shame, shame!" More than a dozen protesters began chanting as soon as Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia gaveled the committee hearing open Tuesday. Goodlatte stopped the proceedings until the protesters were ushered into the hall, where their shouts could still be heard. Goodlatte said the bill under consideration, which empowers local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration

It’s been two years since NASA’s space shuttle program came to an end, but thousands of Americans still dream of becoming astronauts. Eight of them – four men and four women – were introduced Monday as NASA’s astronaut candidate class for 2013. Four have experience as test pilots for the Navy or Air Force. One person is working at the Pentagon on ways to defeat the homemade bombs that have plagued troops in Iraq and

Washington - After Republicans lost the presidential election and seats in both the House and the Senate last year, many in the party offered a stern admonishment: If we want to broaden our appeal, steer clear of divisive social and cultural issues. Yet after the high-profile murder trial of an abortion doctor in Philadelphia this spring, many Republicans in Washington and in state capitals across the country seem eager to reopen the emotional fight over a woman’s right to end a pregnancy. (Snip) The bill stands no chance of becoming law, with Democrats in control of the Senate and the White House.

Tehran - President-elect Hassan Rowhani of Iran, speaking Monday for the first time since his election victory, said he wanted to reduce tensions with the United States but ruled out direct talks between the two estranged nations. In his first news conference after winning Friday’s presidential election promising more freedoms and better relations with the outside world, Mr. Rowhani called the issue of nonexistent relations between Iran and the United States “an old wound, which must be healed.” Iran, he said, wants to reduce tensions between the two countries, which have no diplomatic relations and are

Washington - Pharmaceutical companies that pay rivals to keep less-expensive generic versions of best-selling drugs off the market can expect greater federal scrutiny after a Supreme Court ruling on Monday. In a 5-to-3 vote, the justices effectively said that the Federal Trade Commission can sue pharmaceutical companies for potential antitrust violations, a decision that is likely to increase the number of generic drugs in the marketplace and benefit consumers. Specifically, the justices threw out lower-court rulings that said the agreements were legal, provided that a deal did not keep a generic

President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, put their escalating differences over Syria on display even as they agreed to urge both sides in the civil war there to the negotiating table. Washington - Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who exposed the U.S. government´s top-secret surveillance programs, fought back against his critics on Monday and denied allegations that he was a spy for China. Snowden told an online forum run by Britain´s Guardian newspaper that he revealed the programs in part out of disappointment with President Barack Obama, who he said had expanded "abusive" government programs while in office. Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
