| Right To Work: Both chambers of the Michigan legislature pass bills banning union dues as a condition of employment as a Detroit city councilwoman wonders when the pork will arrive. The choice is growth vs. stagnation. Reports of the GOP´s demise may be greatly exaggerated, at least at the state level, as Michigan, birthplace of the modern labor movement and unionism, stands poised to become the nation´s 24th right-to-work (RTW) state. If it goes ahead, it will join recent addition Indiana in challenging union power as Gov. Scott Walker successfully did in Wisconsin.

It´s hard to say whether this will make Mich. a state that employers flock to because the left could bounce back in the next election cycle and knock all this stuff down.
I´m sure they´re already judge shopping to challenge this law to begin with.
It´s still hard for be to grasp how there was such a shift in 2010 but the momentum was lost with Obama getting re-elected.

FTA:´´Private-sector employee compensation in RTW states grew by an inflation-adjusted 12.5% between 2001-11, according to data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics. That compares with just 3.1% over the same period in states where workers can be forced to join a union as a condition of getting a job.´´
WHEN will union members understand that it is ALL about their leaders´ power and has nothing to do with your health or welfare(well-being)?

What a difference between business oriented republicans and government dependent politicians like Ms. Watson. The divide couldn´t be clearer. The understanding of economics couldn´t be clearer. It´s a clear microcosm of our country. Coleman Young was a corrupt mayor who happened to preside over a booming Detroit economy, none of which he helped cause.

Other than Chicago I don´t know of a city with a more corrupt goverment than Detroit. It is a standing joke here. They have plunged Detroit into a cesspool of graft, bribes, theft and bankruptcy yet have the nerve to demand a handout. It is embarrassing. Rick Snyder is in no way a true conservative but he is a businessman. This is how they roll. The UAW is in a flat panic right now. Loving it.

Congratulations to Gov. Snyder and his Republicans. I am blessed to live in a right to work state and, further, we have no state income tax. Florida has absorbed the great numbers of immigrants from Cuba, Haitti. South Americda, you name it, our federal government has gifted us with and survives.

Detroit is a toe hold away from bankruptcy, which they desperately need to be in. Any money flowing into Detroit should be for demolishing empty buildings and houses. Turn the empty lots back into farm land. Time to clean up the swamp. A good start would be to arrest any public official for fraud - that would include the likes of Mr. Conyers and Dingell.

Benghazigate: The lack of a timeline for what the commander-in-chief was doing the night terrorists murdered our ambassador to Libya and three others is an "irrelevant fact," according to a key White House aide. Playing the role Sunday of former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, who last Sept. 16 went on all five talk shows to parrot the administration line that Benghazi was provoked by a video, was White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer. Following in Rice´s footsteps, he announced that the details of where President Obama was and what he was doing that fateful night

Government Overreach: The Internal Revenue Service official in charge of tax-exempt organizations when the unit targeted Tea Party groups now runs the IRS office responsible for enforcing ObamaCare. As bad as the IRS scandal was, with the taxing body of government using its unequaled authority to intimidate and harass the president´s political opposition to aid his re-election, it got worse with the news that the IRS official, Sarah Hall Ingram, who served as commissioner of the Tax-Exempt and Government Entities Division from 2009 to 2012, is now serving as director of the IRS´ Affordable Care Act division.

Employer spending on benefits rose at the slowest pace on record in the first quarter, as companies began bracing for higher health costs with next year´s launch of ObamaCare.Total benefits, such as insurance and pension contributions, rose just 0.1% vs. the end of last year, the smallest gain in Labor Department data going back to 2001. By comparison, payroll employment grew by a half-million, or 0.4%, in Q1. So benefits-per-worker declined. Total employee benefits provided outside of government jobs declined outright.

Welfare: Not content with having more Americans on food stamps than people in Spain, the Obama administration is ringing the dinner bell for illegal aliens. We´ll feed you and not check your status. As we wrote last July, just as food stamp use has skyrocketed here under President Obama, so have marketing efforts to Hispanics under a partnership with Mexico. We dubbed the program "Fat and Furious" after the administration´s gun-running program that also seemingly had worthy goals but had unclear motives and pernicious effects. Energy: As the EPA snipes at the State Department´s approval, Canada´s natural resource minister says failure to approve the pipeline would seriously jeopardize our energy relationship and do nothing to save the earth. Joe Oliver, not amused by the continued delays in perhaps the most shovel-ready project since the pyramids, said Wednesday that rejection by the U.S. of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline "would represent a serious reversal in our long-standing energy relationship." This critical energy infrastructure project is also perhaps the most studied and approved. After a reroute at the behest of environmentalists

States: The governor from a thriving free-enterprise state travels to the U.S. counterpart of Greece and Cyprus with an invitation: Come to where folks are friendly to business. Texas´ Rick Perry arrived in Illinois Monday to lure businesses away from a state that we and other´s have dubbed "America´s Greece" — beleaguered by debt, punished by regulations and subject to ever-rising taxes — to one that´s leading the pack in job and economic growth. Taking umbrage at Perry´s visit was Chicago Mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

Asian Security: As Korea festers, our friends in Beijing have deployed near Taiwan a powerful missile designed to take out U.S. aircraft carriers as Beijing strengthens its ability to prevent U.S. forces from aiding Taiwan. When North Korea announced the 1953 Armistice was considered null and void and threatened renewed missile tests, the U.S. rushed naval assets to the region, including two destroyers equipped with the Aegis anti-missile defense system. We presumably would do so if things heated up between Beijing and its claimed "lost province," Taiwan. That option became increasingly problematical when news

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) concerning the Internal Revenue Service scandal Sunday (video follows with transcript and commentary):CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Moving on to the IRS problem at this moment, which is really sort of in its infancy. There will be lots more hearings coming up this week

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
