Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will soon testify before US lawmakers at an open-door hearing about the deadly September attack on the US mission in Benghazi, Libya, a top lawmaker said. Clinton will appear before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs "to discuss, in an open hearing, the findings and recommendations" in a State Department report on the attack, committee chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said on Friday. (Snip) No specific date was given for Clinton´s testimony. It was however unlikely that she would testify next week, as she is due to leave Monday on a trip to north Africa and

This was announced a month ago. Way to keep up Breitbart. Hillary´s very careful picking where she goes to testify. Nothing will come of this.

Watch for mention of another ´Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy´ being behind it along with the usual failure to remember meme, all while Buckaroo Benghazi continues his snake dance of wealth redistribution.

She probably will testify AFTER she leaves her office as secretary of state and that seems to be important. I wonder why?

"Madame Secretary, as you shaped your Middle East policy, do you recall anyone counselling you regarding the warning of our God that He will ´curse those who curse Israel´? Yes we are here to discuss Benghazi. Now Mrs. Clinton, Hillary, you say there was no foundational anti-semitic policy controlling Middle East policy. At any rate, the Bible and the Koran were used to inform this policy, they are clearly at odds regarding how to treat the Jews, and yet they are the words of the same God. And this accounts for the confusion? But God is not Allah. Why, because he gives us all His names in the Bible. It doesn´t matter what George Bush says. What do I mean by ´curse´ anyway? Well, I mean the transitive word ´to bring great evil or destruction upon´, as opposed to say, ´curse´ the execration, or the imprecation. OK, a curse as an execration might be when you called Morris a ´f...ing Jew b..tard.´ Yes exactly, profanity. No, see God cannot use profanity. Because He is holy. That´s how we know what He means by ´curse. But did you not see that a policy of destabilization in the Middle East, on purpose or not, and you insist it was just a democratic self-help policy for poor muslims, which includes the muslims in Benghazi, Libya, will effect the security of Israel? No, all cultures are not the same. OK, now you are saying in that case God cannot ´curse´ our collective ignorance. And I should check out the ignorance inside Obama´s policy to legalize marijuana? Do I know that the Bible calls using certain mind altering, or soul altering drugs ´sorcery´? I don´t recall ...?"

Washington - The CIA’s former top lawyer disputes Senate findings that the spy agency lied about its brutal interrogations of terrorists, insisting the tactics produced useful intelligence and flatly denying that the CIA misled the former Bush administration, Congress and the American public. At the same time, John Rizzo, who left the CIA as acting general counsel in 2009, said some CIA employees or contractors were overzealous in the use of the tactics but that the CIA informed lawyers at the Justice Department of the excesses. Rizzo was responsible for helping to create the legal foundation for permitting waterboarding,

GM to seek court protection

General Motors Co said it would ask a U.S. court to bar lawsuits related to actions before its 2009 bankruptcy, signaling a tougher stance toward legal claims stemming from its recent recall over faulty ignition switches. GM has said it is protected from liability for claims related to incidents that occurred before it exited bankruptcy in 2009, and has taken steps to raise those issues with the court by filing motions to stay recall-related lawsuits while it asks that bankruptcy court to clarify the extent of that protection. In a filing with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday, GM asked for a stay on litigation

Beijing - Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to use a purge of senior officials suspected of corruption to put his own men and reform-minded bureaucrats into key positions across the Communist Party, the government and the military, sources said. Xi hopes that removing corrupt officials and those resisting change will allow him to consolidate his grip on power and implement difficult economic, judicial and military reforms that he believes are vital to perpetuate one-party rule, said the sources, who have ties to the leadership. In the most far-reaching example of his intentions, Xi plans to promote about 200 progressive officials

According to a new study, spooning with your partner really does say something about your relationship. Researchers from the University of Hertfordshire surveyed 1,000 people and found that couples who maintained physical contact while they slept were more likely to report being happy in their relationship. An overwhelming 94% of couples who touch while sleeping said they were happy, while only 68% of couples who didn’t touch while snoozing expressed being satisfied with their relationship. Not only that, physical distance while sleeping seemed to translate into emotional distance.

New deportation cases brought by the Obama administration in the nation’s immigration courts have been declining steadily since 2009 and judges have increasingly ruled against deportations, leading to a 43 percent drop in the number of deportations through the courts in the last five years, according to Justice Department statistics released on Wednesday. (Snip) The statistics present a different picture of President Obama’s enforcement policies than the one painted by many immigrant advocates, who have assailed the president as the “deporter in chief” and accused him of rushing to reach a record of two million deportations.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
