if the facts in the case are correct and as the story is told in this article, how does the court expect this man to either address or remedy the situation from jail? On top of everything else, he is now unemployed because of the jailing. This is helpful how??

His alimony exceeds his income, he now has no income, his x-wife is apparently receiving some kind of assistance and the city/county/state/whoever is supporting him with 3 hots and a cot. Sounds to me like the judge overreacted or over punished (or both) and has now ensured that everyone in the family is being supported by taxpayers.

There was a case several years ago where an Army soldier was held captive by the enemy for a long time. When he was finally released and he returned to US soil, he was promptly arrested for failure to make child support payments during that time. State of California I think. So there ya go - rules are rules.

This judge, Mawla, should be removed from the bench, disbarred and disgraced. He is an absolute abomination to the justice system and his obvious prejudice should prevent him from even hearing divorce cases. This is absolutely insane.

Just asking. Is this a white gentleman? I just don´t wish to jump to conclusions. But if he is I would hazard a guess that 40 is the new 20 and whites are the new blacks. And nobody can add, subtract or multiply.

As someone who was financially devastated by his divorce I really feel for this guy. My ex dragged me to court when I missed ONE payment and attached my wages to the point where I could not pay rent on my fleabag apartment for months. Even though my payments are now over I ended up so far in the hole that I am still looking at possible eviction and homelessness.

My ex? living comfortably in another state with her new husband who makes twice my income!

Why get married? Given the exalted status of "single moms" brought to us by the FemiNazis, and the confiscatory community property, alimony and child support rates any man who marries needs his head examined.

Sure she seems sweet and responsible and promises she´ll never drag you through the courts, but when she sees the rainbow over the horizon kiss goodbye to your income and assets, even if you´ve got a PreNup.

I´m sure there are women who don´t fit this profile, and congrats to the men who have found one, but they are getting few and far between.

I have two college educated sons with decent, in one case, spectacular jobs.

And their women friends wonder why they won´t commit to a long term relationship.

They insist on no cohabitation, either. The ladies think they´re old fashioned.

Naw; they´re aware and self-protective.

My state, Florida, suspends driver´s licenses for men unable to pay on time or the amount, no matter what the reason. When the man can´t go to work, due to lack of transportation, he can´t pay either.

Now that women are equal and everything, the divorce and alimony laws need updating.

I have been married twice. Don´t cry to me about this poor mans fate. He is in jail with criminals...he doesn´t have to live with his wife...he got off easy.

I don´t know about NJ, but #3, in California, the soldier should have appealed the decision. I had a friend who was incarcerated years ago and when he got out was told he owed "child support" (which is worse than alimony). He appealed it and got a deal. Unfortunately, because the judge didn´t specify there would be no interest, they came after my friend decades later for interest on the original $2000 settlement. So far, he has paid them over $8K since but because he has had slow business and can´t find a job, he hasn´t been able to pay it all off and it keeps doubling interest on the interest on the interest. Oh well... Our government is way out of control. We need to clean it up from top to bottom. Will we ever?

Binding pre-nuptial agreements. Use protection. Pre-marital agreements prior to children. So much men and women can do before they marry to minimize the post break up pain. But lessons will need to be learned the hard way.

Well, this certainly explains the poll last week, that showed contrary to the past, more women than men want to get married.

And women are confused? If we, as women, are going to demand equality, that means supporting ourselves when a marriage doesn´t work, or living within our means, the same way we would have to if married.

The revenge mentality that has taken over our culture is a sure sign that as a country, we have a fatal disease.
