The end of the airman´s
pin-up: U.S. Air Force
orders pictures of naked

after sexual assaults soar

Pictures and calendars featuring half-naked women will be stripped from U.S. Air Force work spaces and public areas under a widespread inspection to stamp out sexual assault in the armed forces. Commanders and supervisors in all active, reserve and Air National Guard units have 10 days to complete the sweep for pin-up images or materials reminiscent of the all-male military from 20 or 30 years ago. Air Force chief General Mark Welsh said having a culture where such objectification of women is tolerated may be contributing to reports of sexual assault increasing to more than 700 this year

Will the objectification of males still be allowed? New military you know.

It´s art. Museums are full of half or full naked women.

Generations of military men have had pin-ups. They are nothing new that would cause sexual assaults to ´´soar.´´ Political correctness always blame the wrong causes, for the wrong reasons! I´m all for women doing jobs traditionally done by men, as long as the standards are not lowered and no special accommodations, beyond restrooms and such, are made.

Next,we´ll need to go pile all those Michaelangelo, Raphael, and Botticelli paintings in pyre and burn them all.

I was at the National Gallery of Art in DC last month and saw all kinds of half-naked and fully nude women. I didn´t feel compelled to sexually assault the docent.

We´re starting to look more land more like the Taliban every day.

Read the history of graham crackers for a related laugh.

I´m surprised the Air Force isn´t already on board with the program. The Navy lowered the boom on this sort of stuff years ago. But guess what? It isn´t the pictures, posters, or magazines causing the assaults, it´s merely the presence of more women. As the Kid from Brooklyn would say: "Think about it!"

I´m innocent. Can´t you see that pin-up I saw made me assualt that woman.

In 1959 I was in the Air Force. I was told that my picture of Connie Francis, inside my footlocker, in a tight fitting gown was to ´racy´.

I don´t remember any sexual assaults.

I´m glad they did a thorough study of the correlation between pin-ups and the soaring number of sexual assaults. Oh, wait...

This is supposed "to "stamp out sexual assault in the armed forces"? Riiiggghhhhhhtttt.

The work of controlling do-gooder busybodies who don´t know what they´re talking about.

The US would not have won WW II without pics of Betty Grable and Jane Russel.

Where DO they get these generals? In case Gen. Welsh doesn´t know it, men have been drooling over nude women since the day Eve first appeared --- (Adam: "Hey, not bad...")

And listen, General Boobie, its not the pictures which lead to assaults. If it were, assaults would have begun skyrocketing in 1953 when Playboy was first published. But I can think of a couple of (politically incorrect)reasons why why they´re rising now.

How about insisting there´s no difference between men and women, paying no attention to the hormones raging at that age, then declaring that "separate but equal facilities" violates some tenet of equality. Everybody lives together, sleeps together, eats together, and cohabits together.

Just what did they think would happen?

As a woman, I find this decision ridiculous and even offensive. So what they are saying is abuse if predicated by what a woman looks like, wears, how she appears, etc. ?? Looking at a good looking woman makes you want to beat her up or rape her?? Huh?? I thought we have been told time and time again, rape and abuse has nothing to do with sex or what a woman wears or doesn´t? Which is it?

Real men like to look at the female body in all states of dress and undress. This is not new but it is fantastic!! And as for the crap about looking at pin-ups (some of which, especially some of the ones form the WWII era, are as lovely as many works of "art" in museums) cause violence, that makes no sense at all.

A man appreciating the form of a woman who has obviously taken care of herself, shows off her God given beauties to her best advantage, and looks like prime baby making material, that´s called biology. Biology keeps the world turning and it´s pretty damn fun too.

Have the number of muslims in the air force gone up? That would explain the increase int the assaults.

Idiot policies like this have been going on in the AF for many years. They were mostly done locally by commanders who wanted to be able to say they were doing something about sexual harassment.
One knucklehead PACAF general even made it a punishable offense to use language that might offend anyone, any time. Even in private. He put out a list of taboo words and then sent all his first sergeants around to all the barracks listening at doors. This was in 1992.
All we could do was laugh it off. That or cry for what was once a great service.

The politicizing of the military proceeds apace. You´re not getting that star if you don´t cooperate. A picture of a naked woman is not pornography. It has been proven that erotic images do not provoke sexual assault. That being said, I don´t think a military facility should have any personal items on display. Keep your girlfriend´s picture in your wallet or in your locker. It´s not a dorm room, it´s a barracks.

Appearing on MSNBC´s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Wednesday, NBC´s chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd came up with a long list of excuses for President Obama´s poor speech performance in Berlin: "I want to give you a little context here....there was an attempt to shrink the crowd size....Maybe they would have gotten 25, 30, 40,000 people....President Obama feeds off a crowd very well." Another Republican Super PAC is jumping into the increasingly nasty Massachusetts Senate battle, going after Democrat Ed Markey’s biggest weakness — his $1.3 million Maryland home. The America Rising PAC, recently founded by Mitt Romney’s former presidential campaign manager, is planning to deliver a letter today to Maryland’s comptroller urging the state to investigate why Markey has never paid state income taxes there despite living in the upscale Chevy Chase suburb for two decades, the Herald has learned. Markey’s residency status has been dogging him throughout his career, ever since the Herald reported in the early 1990s

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
