| When, at long last, will people understand that the Left is boring? The question came to mind as I was dipping in and out of Oliver Stone’s miasmic 700-plus-page tome. I’ll never read the whole thing, and not because it’s a left-wing screed full of slimy distortions about the evils of the United States (though that doesn’t help). It’s that it’s boring. Stone and co-author Peter Kuznick call their book “The Untold History of the United States,” except, again, it isn’t. This story has been told countless times before.

Stone, a notorious booster of Cuban socialism, owns numerous properties around the world. During an interview at his Santa Barbara, Calif, Spanish colonial villa, Architectural Digest asked about the contradiction between his anti-capitalist schtick and his lifestyle, and he replied that he wouldn’t fall for the guilt trip. “That’s a Western Christian trip.”

Jonah nails the institutionalized "rebel" posing of the left-- celebrating individualism to pedal totalitarianism.
However, when he writes:
"The 66-year-old Stone can be an original filmmaker, but ..."
he´s dead wrong.
I´ve seen more Stone films than I care to remember; no matter the subject, or the budget expended, they come off flat, sophomoric and at least forty minutes too long.

It´s a testament to the depth of brainwashing that every college-age strict conformist will, to a man, declare himself a free thinker.

BOISE -- An Uzbekistan national arrested in Boise has pleaded not guilty in federal court to charges he conspired with a terrorist group on a scheme to use a weapon of mass destruction. Fazliddin Kurbanov, 30, appeared before a federal judge at 8:30 a.m. He used an interpreter over the phone to communicate his not-guilty plea. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable.
