Schumer: Jobless Benefits
‘The Best Stimulus There Is’

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said that extending long-term unemployment benefits would be the “best stimulus there is” for the economy, saying it would create the most jobs for the money. “At the end of last year, there were 5 million people receiving emergency UI [unemployment insurance]. This year, there are only 2 million. It’s working,” Schumer said at a press conference Thursday. “We’re all talking about a stimulus. How do we get the economy moving? This is the best stimulus there is.” Schumer and fellow Senate Democrats called for yet another extension of benefits for the long-term unemployed

Comments:
How can we expect anything but disastrous results coming out of Washington when you have pathetic, insane morons like him as a part of it.

Using Schumer logic, dropping $100 bills in the street would do exactly the same. One small problem. The money has to be taken from productive citizens first.

This is nuts. My husband was on unemployment for 6 months. He barely received enough to make our house payment and pay utilities. We didn´t have enough to pay the rest of our bills, much less buy anything.

So Chuckie, you are saying that the 900 billion in so-called stimulus was ineffective right? All the improvement was because of extended UE benefits right? Well lets just have everyone laid off and extend unemployment forever and we can have a really great economy. This guy is a complete moron.

The sad thing is that there are more people who believe this than don´t.

The best stimulus there is is a country that lives within it´s means, an atmosphere favorable to business, and energy independence.

Borrowing from China to stimulate a sinking, bloated debt is a prescription for disaster. Schumer is as evil and arrogant as Obama.

Actually my old job (where I made 4 times what I received in unemployment benefits) was the best stimulus. A child could do the math but I guess that´s asking too much of a Democrat.

I will be stimulated if Chuck You were jobless!

Relax Chuckie. Don`t work so hard. Your constituents have been sufficiently dumbed down.

Reply 10 - Posted by: billa, 12/6/2012 11:49:30 PM     (No. 9052881)

Is there one Democrat in this country that understands basic math, economics and tax accounting?

What kind of education did these idiots receive. There are 9th graders with a better understanding of the Econ 101.

Furthermore, it appears that the same morons have no clue as to what causes foreclosures, bankruptcy, divorce, depression, suicide, substance abuse, domestic violence and worse.

For most people who acheive something, anything, unemployment is literally the worst thing to occur and leads to a myriad of other problems.

On that note, the best "stimulus" is for these Dem idiots to be voted out of office.

As ususal, Schumer is full of schumer.

Schumer is a lawyer. As a lawyer, none of them know anything about economics. But they sure know how to talk, talk, talk, with nothing intelligent coming out of their mouths.

Michael Steinbach, former head of the FBI’s counterterrorism division and now special agent in charge of Miami, told over 30 congressional staffers in March of 2012 that, contrary to the White House´s classification, the bureau does not refer to the Fort Hood shooting as "workplace violence." As head of the FBI counterterrorism division, Steinbach oversaw the investigation into the mass murder at Texas Army base. Steinbach made this claim during an unclassified counterterrorism briefing on Capitol Hill. “Do you guys teach your agents that Fort Hood was workplace violence?” one staffer asked.

As a result of Fox News Channel’s State Department reporter James Rosen’s 2009 investigation into the government’s response to North Korea’s repeated provocations, it was reported on Monday that the Department of Justice tracked Rosen’s movements as well as subpoenaed telephone and email records. According to the DoJ’s subpoena, Google surrendered Rosen’s emails, who is described as “an aider and abettor and/or co-conspirator,” to the government. “Rosen was not charged with any crime, but it is unprecedented for the government, in an official court document, to accuse a reporter of breaking the law for conducting the

The House has already begun its investigation of the IRS scandal, with Friday’s hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee. The Senate Finance Committee will follow in short order, and it has already issued a “request” for detailed information from the agency about its targeting of conservative groups over the last three years. Ironically, it looks a lot like the kind of request that the agency sent out to those groups, with 41 demands and just 11 days to respond. The letter, provided by a source on Capitol Hill, shows that the questioning is likely to feel a lot like an audit:

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after a report was released claiming that the Obama Administration targeted a FOX News reporter during a leak investigation: “I am very concerned by reports the Obama Administration targeted a FOX News reporter for possible criminal prosecution for doing what appears to be normal news-gathering protected by the First Amendment. The sort of reporting by James Rosen detailed in the report is the same sort of reporting that helped Mr. Rosen aggressively pursue questions about the Administration’s handling of Benghazi.

After another troubling report about the Justice Department´s crackdown on media leaks, Megyn asks, "how many times has this happened?" We´re learning more by the minute following an explosive report by the Washington Post about the Justice Department monitoring the movements of Fox News Chief Washington Correspondent James Rosen. The DOJ was reportedly looking into Rosen´s visits to the State Department, via his security badge, in addition to obtaining search warrants for his personal phone and emails. It all stemmed from a leak by someone in the State

In an appearance on C-SPAN on Monday, Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, scolded President Barack Obama for what reports suggest was his hands-off approach to the ongoing crisis in Benghazi on the night of an attack on that city’s American consulate. “I am willing to say that he did not behave as a President of the United States should have behaved that night,” Kristol said. A C-SPAN caller asked Kristol about the second phase of the Benghazi attack, in which militants laid siege to an annex for several hours. The caller asked about the

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume had strong words to describe the news that his colleague James Rosen was subject to a federal leak investigation, telling America’s Newsroom that the story may indicate that the Obama Justice Department wants to treat ordinary news-gathering activities as a crime. As we reported earlier this morning, Fox News’ chief Washington correspondent Rosen was investigated in 2009 after being suspected by Justice of receiving secret information from government sources on North Korea. As part of their investigation, Justice tracked his movements within the State Department, traced the timing

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:
