Orlando, Fla. - George Zimmerman sued NBC on Thursday, claiming he was defamed when the network edited his 911 call to police after the shooting of Trayvon Martin to make it sound like he was racist. The former neighborhood watch volunteer filed the lawsuit seeking an undisclosed amount of money in Seminole County, outside Orlando. Also named in the complaint were three reporters covering the story for NBC or an NBC-owned television station. The complaint said the airing of the edited call has inflicted emotional distress on Zimmerman, making him fear for his life and causing him
Comments: He´s trampling on their First Amendment rights.
Many of us were appalled and sickened by the race-baiting coverage of this story by NBC and other mainstream media outlets. This was clear-cut malpractice by NBC. I would hope Zimmerman sues NBC for multi millions of dollars. NBC must be made an example of.
Simple he waited until he was able to secure a copy of the color photo taken by the first responder cop showing him bleeding from the nose and other places. That photo proves NBC filtered data and more or less lied.
Never in my life have I seen such a disgusting display of self-righteousness, lies, propaganda, and judicial incompetence all for the sake of race-baiting. It´s only topped by Travon´s loathsome parents´ ostentatious displays of "grief" while holding hands and pretending to be together so they can milk every available dime from their son´s death.
I hope a major settlement from NBC is only the beginning of the comeuppance due the whole race-baiting industry. A plague on all their houses!
Don´t be so sure it will be over for Ziimmerman if he wins in local courts. Obama will sic the Feds on him to find something to charge him on. I know that´s double jeopardy , but Obama and his criminal justice department think they are above the constitution and common law.
The MSM also guaranteed that the American electorate could not make a fair appraisal of Obama and Romney. I have long argued that suing them is the only way to start bringing this corruption down. Complaining about "bias" has proven to be time and breath utterly wasted. They are manifestly corrupt. Take them to court for their crimes against the truth.
NBC didn´t just want to paint Zimmerman as a racist gun nut they wanted to paint US as racist gun nuts. They were successful. The cultural revolution has gone forward. They will probably get a Pulitzer Prize for the story.
fire everyone involved........sue nbc for a sinful amount of money...go george.....no one showed the pic of his bloody nose etc...just saw it for the first time..the press in this country is so low down...they are all guilty of incompetence and bias.....

I don´t think Mr. Zimmerman will be in public danger so much as endangered by his public stand against Obama and company. I fear that he will have to leave the US to be safe from administrative retribution. Bullies (Obama) do not willingly accept defeat..
Of course NBC will try to defend vigorously the civil suit. They may be on the hook for criminal charges too. Last thing they want is to have the civil record contain evidence that will burn them on the criminal side.
Personally, I hope Zimmerman and his lawyers are successful on both fronts. NBC is a despicable organization, IMHO, and it deserves to lose its broadcast license among other penalties.
Freedom of speech: News papers, TV, Radio, etc have every right to write or say whatever they want, in any way they want be it truth or fiction.
Libel: defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures.
Slander: defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.
Zimmerman has been defamed in both venues. First by NBC and the news print which he has every right to go after on the principle of Libel.
He has also been defamed by the likes of Sharpton and his ilk on the principle of Slander.
It´s in Zimmerman´s corner to prove there was no truth in the allegations of racism which probably will be possible and he should reap a good harvest. Right now he has an extremely biased constituency to confront in his upcoming trial.
You go George. I bet they´re quaking in their high rise offices! Which alphabet network slandered that poor guy who lived w/ his mother and had found the bomb at the Olympics in Atlanta? Man, they tore that poor guy apart!! He sued and won BIG!
With our newly reelected Commissar-in-Chief at the helm, John Adams’ “nation of laws, not of men” description is being ever so persistently turned head-over-heels upon itself. Nothing good can come of this. I fear for our descendants.

Face it, with the election of Two Won, NBC (along with the others in the alphabet soup) have shown themselves to be RACIST. Go for it George. WTP would dearly love to see you win this and bring these klown kissing donkeys to their creaky knees.
I agree with #44. The Obama admin. will pressure any judge or jury (Chicago style) to Not find in favor of Zimmerman. Obama and NBC campaigned on the race and division of this country and will not let the truth prevail.
MSNBC is the news source for angry white teachers employed by the government. But - I feel sorry for the people that still watch NBC news... NBC News was relevant before they developed the TV remote control.
Any civil lawyers out there?? I have a law degree and license, but I mainly did criminal prosecution and administrative law. I can´t recall the standards for libel. IIRC, only "public figures" have to prove "actual malice". Ordinary folks like Zimm only have to prove that the defendant intentionally(?) published false information and the plaintiff suffered damage as a result. I also recall something about "false light", ie publishing stuff that may technically be truthful but that paints a false picture of the plaintiff. NBC could be cooked either way, I can think of no benign motive for editing out the dispatcher´s question to Zimm. And of course NBC will do their best to settle, hopefully it will cost them enough to hurt.
I was wondering about that as well, #57 (though I´m no lawyer).
I´d have to wonder also if NBC will attempt to hide behind the ´public figure´ defense, though I can only see that as an epic fail, since Zimmerman may be in that category now, he certainly wasn´t at the time of the incident, and it was NBC who made the man a pariah.
This case will end badly either way. if zimmerman loses, blacks will feel empowered to attack at will any white who happens to be walking more or less in their direction. if zimmerman wins, the blacks will riot and many innocent people will die.
in the end it will be a better, more just outcome if zimmerman wins. no one should feel they have the right to initiate an assault on someone because you think they are follwing you, let alone to pin them down and smash their head on the pavement.
Irrelevant if your´re a thug , a hood , a career criminal who just got out of prison , if you´re black , you´re to be protected by media . The media wing of the socialist party cannot take ANY chances rubbing that precious black vote the wrong way , and they know how volatile it can get . Just look at the riots . Who , if possible , should step up now is that sports team that was so blatantly smeared by the media wing .
Think of this as a precedent setting moment in the attack on government controlled, war controlled media. Racism, their robotic shouting of it, is just one of the Diane Sawyers robots cruel weapons against the people. Zimmerman goes to court and thereby gets lots of national attention from all the other robots. We can´t all go to court. We can attack each crappy news droid as often as possible and make their lives miserable. Nobody attacks the Diane Sawyers for their daily brainwashing, not a soul opposes the commie View, and so many other shows. It´s time each aware citizen focused criticism on the actual people, the shows, the companies, even the sponsors who don´t seem to care. We only look to the greedy Congress for help that is not ever coming. Boehner, imagine, is right there in the midst of Obama´s dictatorship, and he says nothing. Does not speak out for less government, no more taxes, less awful regulations, says nothing. And Boehner is the most important person on our side ??? We need more Bachmanns everywhere, more Palins, more Michelle Malkins, more Mark Steyns, we need constant criticizing from citizen and elected alike. They all have to attack each media lie. Last, we need our own unionized newspeople like Hannity, Rush OReilly, Glenn, Huckabee to attacke their so called colleagues, the commie, statist brainwasher like Diane Sawyer and Brokaw. Attack them challege them on the air daily.
Horrific crimes aside, I object to ´designer´ legislation with names like Megan´s Law, Rachel´s Law, Leah´s Law, etc. etc.
In this case I make an exception - George Zimmerman should lay waste to NBC and there should be a ´Richard Jewell´ law enabling targets of media bias and character assassination to fast-track their counter-claims.
If the financial damages are enough to push NBC out of business, a good start. CNN still on the ropes, too. Newsweek hardcopies go away at the of this month. Too bad that Obie got re-elected on their backs, no? Zimmerman is about to become a very wealthy individual despite Obie´s attempts to screw us all on his tax hikes.
All Mr. Zimmerman has to do is demonstrate the threats on his life due to the edited actuality, then tell the court that he will need private comprehensive security and a secure place to live and lifetime income in order to protect himself and his family from the thugs...that will be worth about $200 million...
Often criticized as too prescriptive and all-consuming, standardized tests have support among parents, who view them as a useful way to measure both students´ and schools´ performances, according to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll. Most parents also say their own children are given about the right number of standardized tests, according to the AP-NORC poll.

A decision by extremist Islamic militants to ban delivery of food aid and a "normalization of crisis" that numbed international donors to unfolding disaster made south-central Somalia the most dangerous place in the world to be a child in 2011. The first in-depth study of famine deaths in Somalia in 2011 was released Thursday, and it estimates that 133,000 children under age 5 died, with child death rates approaching 20 percent in some communities. That's 133,000 under-5 child deaths out of an estimated 6.5 million people in south-central Somalia.
He’s allegedly killed more people than Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy combined, but most Americans have never heard of him. Two years ago, Philadelphia authorities raided Kermit Gosnell’s inner-city abortion clinic on suspicion he was dealing prescription drugs. What they found there was unimaginably worse: bloodstained medical equipment, semi-conscious patients, cat feces, and dismembered fetal body parts in jars. Gosnell is now standing trial for the murders of one woman and seven infants, who allegedly had their spinal cords slit with scissors after being born alive.
Boston & San Francisco - Apple Inc was recently attacked by hackers who infected Macintosh computers of some employees, the company said Tuesday in an unprecedented disclosure describing the widest known cyber attacks targeting Apple computers used by corporations. The first soldier to survive after losing all four limbs in the Iraq war has received a double-arm transplant. Brendan Marrocco had the operation on Dec. 18 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, his father said Monday. The 26-year-old Marrocco, who is from New York City, was injured by a roadside bomb in 2009. He also received bone marrow from the same dead donor who supplied his new arms. That novel approach is aimed at helping his body accept the new limbs with minimal medication to prevent rejection. Source name must be spelled out.
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
