President Obama spent more than $1.45 million on his first two official state dinners, according to White House financial documents obtained by The Washington Examiner. The White House Executive Residence sent two invoices to the State Department´s Office of Protocol, seeking reimbursement for the White House dinners honoring visiting Indian and Mexican heads of state. Both invoices can be viewed following this news story. The October 2009 Indian dinner cost $487,168.86 or $1,485 per person, according to the invoices. The May 2010 Mexican dinner price tag was $969,793.92

Forty-seven hundred bucks per head for a Mexican dinner?

Any good Mexican restaurant could do it for less than ten dollars and probably better.

What in G-d´s name were they serving? White truffle tacos? Somebody must be getting a kick-back here.

Health food kick? Trust me. There is no health food anywhere near the state dinner extravaganzas she throws. It is all for show, can´t be too lavish. And an arriviste like her is fair game for celebrity foodies like Rick Bayless, who was the visiting food guru for this one.

The idea of taxpayers putting their hard-earned money out for the likes of Andrew Sullivan and his husband is sickening.

Shame on all of you. Michelle had to spend this $1.5 million to avoid having it go to hopeless shelters where such rich food would only cause obesity. If the needy are to ever be active in her Let´s Move campaign, they cannot eat like diplomats.

Michelle directed a $17 million stimulus grant to Oregon State Univ to ensure that her brother would not lose his job as basketball coach. OSU was surprised by the grant. Taxpayers were not. She also took her brother and his kids on her South Africa party. Upon returning to Andrew AFB, she has an AF 757 fly Greg and his kids back to Oregon.

Neither Obama nor the Mooch have an ounce of shame.

Not only do they not even remotely resemble world leaders, all they want and take is what makes them happy. Al Gore´s youngest daughter has gotten remarried under a historic tree in Santa Monica. Sarah Gore has a very casual outdoor service on Sunday morning outside a coffee shop with her famous father walking across a patch of grass that served as the makeshift aisle. Wearing a loose, off-white lace dress with bell sleeves, Sarah made her way towards her groom, realtor Patrick Maiani, who was waiting for her beside the outline of a heart in the shape of rose petals. The brief service was officiated by a female religious leader and attended by about a dozen invited guests. As a young reporter, I once expressed shock at how routinely and reflexively government officials lied to the press. A savvy newspaper vet who overheard me just smiled and told me not to take it personally. “Why shouldn’t they lie to you?” the late, great Murray Kempton asked. “They lie to themselves all the time.” His observation came back to me as I read about President Obama’s trip to Asia. He’s going, the White House says, to tell our allies face to face that America is committed more than ever to their security and prosperity. In ordinary times, the trip and

IRS employees who had been disciplined for tax and conduct issues were nonetheless rewarded with monetary awards or time off, according to a watchdog report released Tuesday. The report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration found that while for the most part the reward program for IRS workers complied with federal regulations, employees who had themselves failed to pay their federal taxes and had discipline problems were also rewarded. "While not prohibited, providing awards to employees who have been disciplined for failing to pay federal taxes appears to create a conflict with the IRS’s charge of ensuring the

The speaker, talking to reporters the day he was easily elected to a fifth term as Illinois Democratic Party chairman, said voting to keep the personal income tax rate at 5 percent instead of letting it fall to 3.75 percent on Jan. 1 will be a “difficult roll call.” “Every person in the legislature is going to be called upon

How often have you heard a Democrat prattle on and on about how well Barack Obama has done with the economy, given the mess he inherited? Usually, it’s some version of, “Things are getting better, but the economy the President started with was so awful, so he’s done as well as anyone could expect.”When Ronald Reagan took over from Jimmy Carter in ’81, things were actually worse economically compared to when Obama took over from George W. The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

Former Sen. The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning
