A Texas burglary suspect dialed 911 early Tuesday morning to report that an armed homeowner was threatening to shoot him, MyFoxDFW.com reported. James Gerow, the homeowner, told the station that he awoke and discovered a man wearing a dark hoodie inside his Springtown, Texas home. Springtown is a small city Northwest of Fort Worth. Gerow grabbed his gun and followed the man out to a truck in his driveway. With gun in hand, Gerow convinced the man to drop his keys. He told his wife to call 911 and waited for deputies to arrive.

Comments:
I enjoy these types of stories. Since this happenned in Texas, my home, the homeowner wasn´t arrested for threatening the poor, unindicted butglar with a (EEK!) gun.

That burglar is very, very lucky not to be dead. The homeowner probably didn´t want to mess up his floor, so he followed the guy outside.

Is this the "gun culture" Bob Costas is whining about?

On the contrary, Lance - you don´t know how truly lucky you really are.

Obviously, a handgun didn´t help this homeowner and he clearly endangered them both simply by the gun´s existence.

Isn´t that correct, Bob?

I was in my apartment when the "manager" tried to get in around 9am. He thought I wasn´t home as my car was in the shop. I saw the deadbolt turn then heard the keys in the main lock which lucky for him did not work!

If I had a gun I wonder if I would have used it.... The blunt instrument I was holding would have worked just fine.

I yelled at the owner of of the building. That "manager" avoids me and he should!

Texas, our castle law? Why isn´t this perp Dead?

Reply 12 - Posted by: retiredhippy, 12/6/2012 5:08:56 PM     (No. 9052358)

re: #11, Castle law or no, not all gun owners (even us Texans) are itching to shoot someone.
I own several firearms, and would not hesitate an instant to defend my family or self, but no gun owner that I know goes to bed at night dreaming of the ´perps´ he might get to blow away.
Just because you can do a thing, doesnt always mean that thing needs doing.
I commend the homeowner for the restraint he showed.

Mr. Gerow. .45 hollowpoints coming out of a Glock 21 would have made Lance dance. See your local gun dealer today!

Bob Costas says our gun culture has no benefits. Ha, idiot liberals do not realize that Texas is a whole lot safer than Chicago because there are more guns in the hands of the good guys.

KEENE - The city has filed a lawsuit against six citizens, part of a group dubbed Robin Hood of Keene that patrols downtown armed with video cameras and pockets full of change to fill expired parking meters. Also known as Robin Hooders, the six are associated with the Free Keene group. "They say video recording or talking to them is harassing them, but I don´t agree with that," "Robin Hooder" James Cleaveland said of parking enforcement officers. "So they want to establish a safety zone of fifty feet." Members of the group place cards under windshield wipers

An authoritative new poll of more than 15,000 cops released on the eve of this week´s Senate anti-gun debate shows that a sweeping majority of officers don´t believe gun control will work or keep them safer, and nearly nine in 10 believe having more armed citizens would curb gun violence. According to the lengthy survey of law enforcement professionals, one of the largest ever of street cops, 85 percent believe that President Obama´s gun control plan to ban assault weapons, limit the size of ammo magazines and expand background checks won´t improve their safety

The deputy Prime Minister said it risked "undermining public confidence" to let illegal immigrants stay if they have been in the country for more than 10 years. In his first major speech on immigration, he abandoned the controversial proposal, which was championed by the Liberal Democrats at the last election. Mr Clegg previously supported the idea of "earned citizenship" for illegal immigrants. NEW YORK - A long-forgotten piece of America´s military history is going up for sale. The original smaller statue of the iconic raising of the U.S. flag at Iwo Jima in 1945 is expected to fetch up to $1.8 million later this month at a New York auction dedicated to World War II artifacts. That such a statue even exists is news to all but the most ardent history buffs. Most Americans are familiar with the 32-foot-tall Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va. (snip) Less well-known is the 12 1/2-foot-tall statue created soon after the event.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest.
