House Dems: Debt Limit
Should Be Off the Table

Cybercast News Service, by Elizabeth Harrington

Original Article

The House Democratic leadership said Wednesday that the debt ceiling “ought not be a negotiating item” in Congress, thereby ceding their constitutional authority to borrow money to President Barack Obama. “The debt limit ought not to be held hostage to anything,” said Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) during a press conference on Capitol Hill. “It hurt our economy. We were downgraded for the first time in my career, and I think in history, by one of the rating agencies. “The credit worthiness of America ought not to be put at risk,” he said.

Comments:
The recklessness and irresponsibly of the Democrats is appalling and disgusting.

From today´s WaPo article by George Will:

"... the cliff’s consequences — huge tax increases and defense cuts — are progressivism’s agenda. And Obama needs to restock the pantry where he stores his excuses for his economic policy failures. The tax increases would augment his policy of enlarging government’s control of the nation’s economic output, and he could henceforth blame continuing economic anemia on Republicans who supposedly should have averted what progressives desire."

After 4 years of failure, Blaming Bush is no longer operative. Obama and his ilk now use the generic Bush, the Republicans.

Giving Obama control over the debt limit would be like giving a teenager a bottle of Jack Daniels and the keys to the car...someone is going to get hurt.

No compromise. Not only should the debt limit be retained - it should be strictly enforced. No more increases. None. Cut up the Chinese credit card. Block any more QE from the Fed. Force NerØbama to live within the confines of his new tax increases. Time for some Castor Oil for the economy and the morons who voted to stay on the current path.

Sorry dingbat Steny, the credit rating of the US was NOT downgraded because of the Debt Ceiling debacle. It was downgraded because at the end of it all the credit rating agencies found that there was no believable effort on the part of the US to reign in the universally recognized unsustainable rate of our debts growth. And get ready for another shocker Steny, that was just the first of many downgrades.

The world comes is awakening to the realization that none of that debt will ever be paid back. The world is realizing that the Feds aggresive "quantitative easing" (translation printing worthless paper money just like Zimbabwe)will make any money actually paid back worth far less than the money used to buy the T-Bills in the first place. If the interest on our debt goes up to even 1/2 of the historic average rate our economy will collapse, our debt payments will consume essentially all of our tax revenues leaving very little for Obamacare and the perpetual re-election of our current ruling class.

We are headed for Greece folks and as soon as China figures that out we are in really big trouble. By really big I mean a gargantuan dose of nastiness over and above the truly terrible plight we are already in.

Why?

Our problem is a spending problem NOT a revenue problem and Democrats and Obama don´t want it on the table?

They are insane!

Dems have no standards; no principles. This is not the party of my farmer grandfather, my steel worker father, nor myself for the first 18 years of my voting life( I am now 82 years old.). These people are like something really bad that you find on your instep. They should be stomped out.

They are part right. It should be off the table. It should be frozen at current levels and remain so until Democrats pony up some real spending cuts.

Whoopi Goldberg, perhaps looking for a journalistic outlet that’s a little different from The View, has just signed on as The Denver Post’s newest marijuana columnist. Her first column, dedicated to her vape pen, appeared Thursday morning on The Cannabist, which serves as the paper’s home for coverage of everything related to Colorado’s recreational marijuana legalization. In the column, Goldberg introduces readers to “Sippy,” the pen-sized vaporizer that she says changed her life. “No, I’m not exaggerating,” she writes. “In fact, her name is Sippy. Yes, she’s a she. And yes, I named her Sippy because I take tiny, little sips

President Barack Obama ventured Wednesday to a mostly blue-collar region of the United States and faced an audience that didn’t seem thrilled to see him. The 15 community college students who were picked to stand immediately behind the president, and in view of the TV cameras, mostly stood stone-faced through his speech. At the end, when the president walked back from the podium to smile and wave at the roughly 60 people in the bleachers 20 feet behind him, he faced a unfriendly wall of faces. The White House video of the bleacher’s front rank shows three men with their hands crossed, one

Education Secretary Arne Duncan visited an elementary school in Columbus, N.M. last year where 75 percent of the students live in Mexico but are being educated in the United States because their mothers crossed the border to seek medical help, and their birth here makes them U.S. citizens. “These are our kids and they’re trying to get a great education,” Duncan said during a visit to the school, which was part of his 2013 school bus tour. “These are children and families who are trying to live the American dream of putting everything, everything on the line to get a

Sending scores of armed agents along with helicopters and dogs to confront an elderly Nevada rancher over grazing fees may seem like overkill, but critics say it’s not inconsistent with the federal government’s recent approach to environmental enforcement. The simmering truce between the Bundys and the Bureau of Land Management comes after high-profile raids last year by armed federal agents on small-time gold miners in tiny Chicken, Alaska, and guitar makers at the Gibson Guitar facilities in Tennessee. That doesn’t include more subtle threats, such as recent efforts by the Obama administration to raise grazing fees or pressure

Rep. Joe Garcia (D-Fla.) is among the Democrats pressing Congress to take up immigration reform. On Tuesday, he told a conference call that deportations are breaking families apart and leaving children in foster care. "So the human toll has been horrific. This president, by implementation of existing law, has been forced to deport a huge number of Americans." Although Garcia may consider the deportees to be "Americans," legally they are not. But they might become citizens if Garcia and other immigration advocates get their way. Democrats are urging Republicans to sign their discharge petition, which would force a House vote on

Key members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform expressed outrage at revelations made in newly released emails showing ex-IRS official Lois Lerner coordinating with the Department of Justice on prosecuting nonprofit groups. One committee member said the emails prove why the IRS is “scared to give up the rest of Lois Lerner’s emails.” IRS commissioner John Koskinen was recently threatened with contempt for stonewalling the committee’s investigation. Koskinen claimed in a hearing that it could take years to provide the documents requested by Oversight. “The release of new documents

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No
