‘A Different Attitude:’ Gang Funerals
Will Include Searches, Tight Security

Mayor Rahm Emanuel says Chicago police are making strong moves to confront continuing city violence—which has included violent attacks at funerals. The mayor expressed anger that people have been shooting and carrying guns at gang-member funerals. “The police department is going to change the way they deal with gang funerals,” he said. “If you cannot respect a place of worship, at a time of a funeral, we are going to show a different type of attitude.” The funerals will be treated as “gang events,” with mourners being searched and patted down, among other security measures.

Hey, a new role for TSA. Funeral screeners. Then Rahm will let ´em go back to blowing each other away on the streets. Yup, need more "gun control" and not gang banger control....

Rahm -- every bit as clueless as Obama [and yes, Obama has far more wrong with him than that].

We all know a version of the aphorism reminding us that for every problem, there´s a solution that´s simple, neat, and wrong.

Require lawful, non-violent behavior just at funerals? Hunh? No respect for churches is the real problem? Wha´?

Fish-boy, the problem is you have a large, violent, unconstrained sub-culture which is being allowed to run wild; which pays little or no [price for its crimes; and is not being subjugated by lawful authority protecting the safety and the legitimate rights of the larger population. Oh -- the members of that sub-culture are pretty easy to find and identify.

If you really wanted to.

Help me out here.
Emanuel actually expects lawless gang members , who routinely blow each other away for wearing
the wrong color shirt,
to " show respect at a place of worship " ???
Really ?

So instead of being on patrol, cops will be acting as bouncers for gangbanger´s funerals? Which districts are these cops being pulled from?

Sounds like a good plan to take out on the streets. Just pat down everyone the cops see. Wonder where that might get them?

The ACLU would go to court for sure but in the interim, think how many guns would be dropped into sewer grates.

Oh, wait, Chicago is a gun free zone. There are no guns! s/off

Anger is brewing among service members and veterans groups after the publication of a New York Times op-ed that tries to link veterans and white supremacists. The piece came just days after a 73-year-old white supremacist and veteran, Frazier Glenn Miller, was arrested in an attack that killed three people at a Jewish center in Overland Park, Kansas. In the column, op-ed contributor Kathleen Belew writes: In 2009, the Department of Homeland Security issued a nine-page report detailing the threat of domestic terrorism by the white power movement. This short document outlined no specific threats, but rather a set of

Maryland health officials are investigating possible cases of food poisoning at what may be the worst-ever venue — a gathering of government and industry leaders attending a national Food Safety Summit. At least four people called the Baltimore City Health Department this week to report that they developed diarrhea, nausea and other symptoms about 12 hours after eating a meal April 9 during the conference at the Baltimore Convention Center. That was midway through the annual meeting held April 8 to 10 that attracted more than 1,500 food safety professionals, including staff from federal agencies as well as businesses such

Russia and Ukraine struck a deal Thursday to end unrest in eastern Ukraine stoked by pro-Russian militants, Secretary of State John Kerry said. The militants must refrain from violence, lay down their illegal weapons and return seized buildings to their rightful owners, Kerry said. In return, Ukraine agreed to offer amnesty to protesters who had not committed capital crimes. Kerry called the agreement “a good day’s work,” but warned that the United States would impose further sanctions on Russia if it didn’t see progress soon. “None of us leave here with the sense that the job is done because the

DENVER — Authorities say a Wyoming college student who jumped to his death from a Denver hotel balcony ate more than the recommended serving of a marijuana cookie. Police reports released Thursday said 19-year-old Levy Thamba Pongi consumed a little more than one cookie that his friend purchased from a pot shop. The reports say a clerk told his friends to cut it into six pieces and eat one piece at a time. The friends did so, but it´s unclear from the reports whether Pongi heard the advice.

On a local website co-managed by Shaun Kenney, the newly appointed executive director of the Virginia GOP, a colleague of Kenney’s admitted last night that Kenney’s political fundraising and consulting firm is employed by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Cantor is now campaigning to retain his seat in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. Cantor’s challenger for the GOP primary on June 10 — Dave Brat — is politically on Cantor’s right, and is thus receiving national interest from conservative/Tea Party groups that are disappointed with Cantor’s record as majority leader. The magnitude of the revelation can not be overstated: GOP voters

Nahshon Shelton didn’t want to pay the 22-cent tax on his $1.79 two-liter of Pepsi on Saturday afternoon, Chicago police said. So he allegedly pulled a blue-steel Intratec .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun out of his Gucci satchel inside the convenience store in the 4000 block of West Madison Street where they tried to make him pay it -- and he threatened to kill everyone there, a prosecutor said. This "is my neighborhood, I’m tax exempt!" he would later allegedly tell the cops, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. “Man, you know what, I’ll keep it real. I had to put them in their

Hillary Clinton was the planned keynote speaker at the 17th Annual Western Healthcare Leadership Academy in San Diego on April 11 - but she´s cancelled her visit in the midst of planned protests from San Diego locals and military families. Protestors organized by "The Difference Matters" do not want the former U.S. Secretary of State to come because of Clinton´s role in the Benghazi scandal. For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after
