| Greg Barker, the environment minister, has a provocative turn of phrase. Earlier this week he described wind farms as “wonderful and majestic” and said they had become tourist attractions in his Bexhill and Battle constituency. Today he trumped that by claiming that the UK will “pay the price in British lives” if we don’t spend £2 billion of taxpayer’s money (that’s £70 per household) on programmes to help developing countries switch to green energy. How come? Barker fears that if we don’t stump up the cash, we will see more failed states like Eritrea, Somalia and Afghanistan

In some circles that´s called "Blackmail". In this case that´s true in more than one way. See Zimbabwe. Give us more money or we´ll kill the women and children first.
In more thoughtful times this would have led to quick decisive actions. These days, the liberals just look the other way and talk mostly about climate change and how much good the UN is doing feeding starving children.
This diatribe by Barker is just so idiotic that it is not worth further consideration. If he wants to build windmills in Arfica, why just go build them. Have a ball, but don´t ask me to pay for it.

South Africa recently killed their 2nd nuclear reactor due to be built at Koeberg near Cape Town. Endless greenie lawsuits stalled the program so now they´ll get about 1% of the power needed from windmills.
And they call this progress???

The Metropolitan Police has defended the way it responded to reports of the killing in Woolwich, south London, after questions were raised about how long it took officers to reach the scene. The force said police were there within nine minutes of the first emergency call and firearms officers were at the scene five minutes after that. Mayor Boris Johnson was heckled when he visited the area. BBC London´s Home Affairs Correspondent Guy Smith spoke with Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, former Metropolitan Police Commander John O´Connor and Roger Gray, a former firearms officer.

HANAHAN--The U.S. Naval Brig is once again being mentioned as a leading alternative to put terror detainees on trial after President Barack Obama this week rekindled his push to shut down the terror-suspect holding site at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. “I once again call on Congress to lift the restrictions on detainee transfers from Gitmo,” he said. “I have asked the Department of Defense to designate a site in the United States where we can hold military commissions.” Speculation immediately re-focused on the brig at Charleston as a leading choice where some of the 166 detainees could go on trial.

People taking statins face an increased risk of developing diabetes, warn researchers. They found a 10 percent extra risk linked to taking simvastatin--the most commonly prescribed anti-cholesterol drug--which rose to 22 percent for those taking atorvastatin. Previous research into a suspected link with statins found a 9 percent rise in the chance of patients developing diabetes, but the new study looked at specific brands of drug. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
