John Adams, James Monroe, John Q. Adams, Martin Van Buren, James Buchanan. Andrew Mellon, W. Averell Harriman – these are some of the distinguished names of US Ambassadors to the Court of St. James´s over the past 250 years. And now Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, is reportedly in the running to become the next US Ambassador to the United Kingdom, to succeed the outgoing Louis Susman. According to Bloomberg, Wintour was among “Obama’s biggest bundlers of donations in the campaign”, raising over $500,000 to re-elect the president. As Bloomberg notes, the Obama administration (like many previous US administrations)

Comments:
Now that two British political writers have begun the avalanche of scorn for the woman, Obama is quite likely to appoint her his Wintour of Their Discontent.

Even the suggestion that this might take place is indicative of the present president´s claimed heritage via his father -- at least the bust of Churchill is an object and inanimate.

FTA: "...Obama’s picks are slightly above the 30 percent average for envoys drawn from outside the career foreign service, said Susan Johnson, ... Obama nominated 59 ambassadors, including 40 bundlers, who lacked experience in the diplomatic corps."

Yeah - just "slightly" above the 30% average, if you think that 68% is just "slightly" above.

It´s a total diss to the UK by appointing this twit as ambassador.

Obama´s anti-Anglo bigotry manifests in subtle ways. One of them being putting a clown up as our ambassador to the U.K.

Wintour has dual British/U.S. citizenship; she was born in the UK. Type in her name at Wikipedia. She sounds like a real piece of work. She would not make a good representative of these United States.

Ha! This pretentious, superficial, egomaniacal woman is being mocked on both sides of the Atlantic. She´s being Alinskyed! How rich is that?

Some payback for all of her fundraising efforts. Obit put her out there with a target on her chest.

Few will ever forget her abysmally arrogant feature article on the Assads, published about the time that he was killing his own people in the streets. The mass murdering had been going on long enough for Anna to have pulled the feature, but no. It is still up on the Assads´ own website. Have your barf bag ready and tell me if Wintour is SoS material:

Perfect. The show is only getting started. Conservatives need to get their popcorn and take a seat. Americans are about to find out more about Obama than they, many of them, had any idea when they gave him another four years to foul things up. He really did need the extra four years to make a domestic and international mess so big that it would be impossible to deny, excuse, or blame on someone else. Too bad, but the election proves that a majority of the electorate can only learn the hard way, by bitter experience. Then we will be able to crow and rub it in and say "We told you so! We tried to warn you, but O no, you wouldn´t listen! How do you like the situation NOW?" That, of course, is petty and irrelevant. The greater hope that the inevitable collision of Obama´s Ship of Fools with the iceberg of reality will be a memorable disaster that will spare America from the sophomoric fantasies of Leftists for a long time to come. "Remember Obama!" will enter the language like "Remember the Alamo!" and "Remember the Maine!" We will in a curious way have cause to be grateful to him and his cronies for what they in their infinite folly have done to themselves and their ideology.

Go for it, dude! Appoint the fashion lady as Ambassador to U.K. Hold out for tax increases, refuse to make meaningful spending cuts. Keep encouraging the enemies of Israel(and America) to resort to violence. Keep lying about Benghazi and everything else. Be yourself! Don´t hold back!

PS: We don´t like him either. Churchill´s bust would make a better chief executive.

Makes for a very James Bondian setting though.

The day she arrives to begin her ambassadorship in a country that is offended by her triviality would make a great opening scene for a novel.

Sucks that we´re livin´ it.

Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Sunday that the IRS scandal reveals a ´culture of intimidation´ in the Obama Administration that is bent on making it more difficult for ´citizens to organize and express themselves.´ In an interview on NBC´s ´Meet the Press´ McConnell, however, backed away from claims by fellow Kentucky Senator Rand Paul that IRS officials has circulated a memo directing tax collectors to give tougher scrutiny to any groups that were critical of the president. ´The investigation has just begun so I´m not going to speculate on what they may find, but what we do know

You´ll remember all that fuss about bees and neonicotinoids last month. It seemed to come out of nowhere--like a flash mob. Suddenly, it was the most urgent cause of the moment for green activists everywhere, with people taking to the streets in bee costumes and celebrities from Vivienne Westwood to Stephen Fry rushing to lend their support. [Snip] Those of us who´ve observed the environmental movement at work, though, will have recognised a familiar pattern here. Local Conservative party campaigners, including the chairman of one constituency association, will this week pledge their support for Nigel Farage after one of David Cameron’s allies described grassroots Tories as “mad, swivel-eyed loons”. Mr Farage uses an advertisement in Monday´s Telegraph to urge Conservative voters to back Ukip. The “loons” description, he says, is “the ultimate insult” from a party leadership that has betrayed the trust of its own supporters. He writes in the advertisement: “Only an administration run by a bunch of college kids, none of whom have ever had a proper job in their lives, could so

Severe weather has left a violent trail of destruction through the Midwest and South, bringing high winds, heavy rains and tornadoes - and at least one person has been killed. Numerous twisters were spotted on Saturday evening near Rozel, a sparsely populated area in central Kansas. They were also reported to the south in parts of Oklahoma and Iowa. Lightning bolts lit up the sky as the storm moved through. A National Weather Service advisory warned: ´You could be killed if not underground or in a tornado shelter.´ ´Complete destruction of neighborhoods, businesses and vehicles will occur. People in two states were taking shelter amid wailing warning sirens Sunday as tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down in Kansas and Oklahoma as part of an extreme weather system plowing through the nation´s midsection. The system, which stretched from North Texas to Minnesota, also heaved hail--dime to softball sized--as well as heavy rainfall. Residents in downtown Wichita, Kan., were told to seek shelter Sunday afternoon after a tornado was confirmed on the ground--with its presence cloaked by thick thunder clouds and heavy rain. Near Oklahoma City, a half-mile wide tornado was reported, prompting a stark alert

In the executive suite on the 11th floor of a former bank building in downtown Columbia, a folk art painting propped up against the wall warns, “Look busy, Jesus is coming.” This is Tony Keck’s office, but he doesn’t need to bother looking busy. [Snip] The core of Keck’s message is that Medicaid, and health insurance generally, isn’t making people healthier. What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
