| The barefoot homeless man who was photographed being given a pair of winter boots by a New York City police officer on a cold November night has actually been living rent-free in an apartment since late last year, the city said Tuesday. Homeless Services Commissioner Seth Diamond had no doubt that the man captured in a tourist´s picture receiving the boots from NYPD Officer Larry DePrimo was the same Jeffrey Hillman who had been on the city agency´s radar for a while. "We´re sure because we´ve had such a sustained engagement with him for so many years," Diamond said.

So many ´homeless´ are actually drug users or people with serious mental illness. Do we really believe we help them by letting them wander around and risk harming themselves or others? We used to hospitalize them until the human-rights busybodies decided we were interfering with their ´lifestyle´ choices. That´s real compassion./s

Absolutely amazing how many people are working so hard to make sure that the young policeman´s incredibly generous and compassionate gesture is belittled.
Would that the press would find background on some of their own heroes.

Some of these people - I believe his family said that he is a longtime alcoholic - must be out on the street and on the move all the time. Restless. They cannot stand to be alone with themselves.
His family recognized him in the photo. He has had an open invitation to live with them for some time, but no interest. He is our burden until he drinks himself to death, and he will.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. Let’s see if we can unravel one of the great mysteries of the Obama Administration. The latest invocations of the Incompetence Defense from President Obama, Eric Holder, and now the departing Acting IRS Commissioner (hilariously described by the Associated Press as “ousted,” even though he’s leaving exactly when he was originally scheduled to depart, in June) hold that all of these super-genius leaders found out about various outrages by watching the news, along with the rest of us. They have no idea what their subordinates do every day, until it blows up into a huge scandal on the evening news, and that’s why they should be left in charge of everything.

A year ago, The Associated Press discovered a foiled al-Qaida plot. Worried about the safety of an informant in the case, the CIA asked the AP to delay publishing the story until their spy could be secured. The AP agreed. Five days later, the CIA told the AP that their national security concerns were “no longer an issue.” As a seasoned AP team of reporters and editors made final edits to their scoop, the CIA backtracked and asked the AP to delay the story one more day. New national security concerns? Nope. The only concern was about public relations.

The White House on Wednesday released 94 pages of emails between top administration and intelligence officials who helped shape the talking points about the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, that the CIA would provide to policymakers in both the legislative and executive branches.
