California urged to
assess energy reform

San Francisco Chronicle, by David R. Baker

California officials need to add up the costs of all the state´s clean-energy policies before adopting any more, according to a report issued Monday by a government oversight agency. The state has adopted a series of far-reaching energy reforms - boosting the use of renewable power and reining in greenhouse gases - without considering how each policy affects the others, the Little Hoover Commission argues in the report. Even worse, state officials have no clear idea how much all of those reforms, taken together, will cost. Californians could soon face a "rate impact bomb" of exploding electricity prices as a result

Her`s a clear assessment - businesses who can flee ARE fleeing, idiots! The rest of us get stuck with super high home energy prices for no good reason other than it makes the enviro- earth lovers/human haters happy.

But if they stop won´t the ocean soon cover the state?

That´s what some guy told me. He said he was green.

He didn´t look green.

The "Little Hoover Commission" has been in place since 1962. That´s fifty years of ineffective results. Time to abolish it and let the politicians have a crack at it. After all, the politicians have always blamed the state of the state on everybody but themselves so let them have a go. Can´t hurt... After all, there´s nowhere to go but up at this point. (And I live here!) s/o

By the way, Pat Brown was the Governor then in 1962 and ran against Richard Nixon and won for another four years. Now we continue the downward spiral with his infamous democrat son who has been the 34th and now the 39th Governor of California. If there is anyone who has set the overall tone of politics in California, it is democrat Governor Jerry Brown.

Like Chicago and Detroit and the rest of the failed major cities, California has seen the worst of failed initiatives and disastrous environmental green laws and failed socialist programs. (The only good one in all my years in California has been Prop 13.)

Well when you spend all your money chasing false dreams that MAY give you a maximum of 5% of the energy you need and trash the 95% opportunity, what could possibly go wrong?

I´m going to make a recommendation to the Texas Governor and Legislators to cut off all Blue States of any energy. You will have to drill/refine it yourselves. Consider youselves to be CUT OFF!

California should shut the energy off, raise taxes on the rich, and increase business regulations. That way, just the democrats will be left in California.

No! Calif, should go on with their "save the planet" reforms. Go, Calif. Keep it up! Do more stupid idiotic stuff until you fall to total ruin and the state is sent back to where the libtards want it- the Stone Age! Everyone should sear hemp sacks for clothes, ride bikes to work, wear sea weed shoes and eat soy for every meal. No fire, no warmth, just live like the fabled mind dead Eloy.

Drove Hwy 62 through Morongo Valley onto the I-10 last Sunday - all those wind turbines were sitting idle. Occasionally, a few blades would spin a radian or two but nothing more.

Great. Texas will get the backwash of idiots running from the California debacle. Seriously, why is any sane, conservative person still in California? Sell out, get out and start over. ANYWHERE (even Mexico) would be better, and you can still sell your over-priced Cal. real estate for enough to get a good place elsewhere. Leave it to the green and vapid losers. But please, don´t let them out of the state!

The Internal Revenue Service is demanding that Ron Paul´s Campaign for Liberty organization hand over its list of contributors, and has fined the non-profit organization $12,900 for failing to give names on its annual IRS filing. "There is no legitimate reason for the IRS to know who donates to Campaign for Liberty," the organization´s Communications Director Megan Stiles told the Washington Examiner in an e-mail April 15. Department for Education inspectors said that girls in a school at the centre of the so-called “Trojan Horse” plot were forced to sit at the back of the class, some Christian pupils were left to “teach themselves” and an extremist preacher was invited to speak to children. The report, into three schools in the city, follows weeks of controversy over the alleged plot to “Islamise” secular schools in Birmingham

Louisville, Ky. — Could climate change mean paying more for your morning cup of coffee? One climate panel says "yes." According to the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC), pests, rising heat and extreme temperatures resulting from climate change may actually impact the supply of coffee. The news has those in the coffee industry worried. "I am very concerned," said Mauricio Galindo, head of International Coffee Organization. "I would say climate change is the most serious threat to the sustainability of the coffee supply chain right now." The IPCC says that a temperature rise of just 2 to 2.5 centigrades

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our
