Michael Bloomberg ´asked
Hillary Clinton to succeed him´
as NYC mayor

Telegraph (UK), by Staff

Original Article

The New York Times said that the mayor was not entirely happy with the calibre of candidates competing to replace him and thought the Secretary of State, who has announced her intention to retire soon, would be the ideal replacement. Mr Bloomberg, founder of the eponymous data services firm and the 10th richest person in the US, must stand down at the end of next year after 12 years. Mrs Clinton is a former senator for New York, but her fellow Democrats in the city said the idea of her seeking office there struck them as improbable

Comments:
After Bloomberg she couldn´t claim the distinction of being the first female mayor of NY, but she´s already the queen of the LGBT crowd in Grenwich Village, so this would have been a natural progression for Madam.

I wish bloomie would elope with the hag and go live in London - the hag could then be eligible to be queen. Nothing would surprise me, those two deserve each other.

Dems frequently have to "import" someone to run.

I guess the home grown Dems are a bunch of losers.

Why not let the voters in NYC decide who will succeed him? I know it´s a novel idea, and they will undoubtedly pick another fool for mayor, but they ought to pretend we still have a representative republic.

Her better option is to trade places with John Kerry. Would the voters in Massachusetts care that she was not a resident? Did the voters of New York?

Absolutely perfectly Bloomberg. We the people do not exist. We don´t get to have elections. When he wanted to break the term limit law he didn´t subject himself to a difficult public spectacle. Instead, he called fellow millionaire and billionaire newspaper publishers at the NY Times, NY Daily News, and NY Post. He met with each separately and asked for their editorial approval for his third term. Flattered, they all agreed to give their newspapers´ support. No muss, no fuss.

DETROIT — Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has told a Detroit church audience that African Americans should pool their money and buy up property as a way to save the city.(snip) The leader of the Chicago-based movement says Christian ministers shouldn´t compromise in their opposition to gay marriage. He says there should be unity between Christians and Muslims because both faiths revere Jesus. He also says he isn´t anti-Semitic, citing the fact he´s "never been arrested, not even for spitting on a sidewalk" and has never defaced a synagogue.

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), the Senate Finance Committee Chairman, predicted in an interview airing Sunday that the scandal surrounding the Internal Revenue Service selectively targeting conservative political groups will grow. “I have a hunch that a lot more is going to come out, frankly,” Baucus told Bloomberg News. “It’s broader than the current focus.” Steven Miller, the acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service who was ousted earlier this week, is testifying Friday before the House Ways and Means committee in what is expected to be the first of many congressional grillings over the scandal.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., charged Republicans with “exploiting” the questions surrounding the Benghazi talking points, the AP phone records seizure, and the IRS scandal in order to attack President Obama because “they fear” his agenda and eloquence. “This president — they make so much of these issues because this president is such a great president,” Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press briefing. “They will use talking points on Benghazi, they will use the IRS, they will use AP, as, I think, subterfuges — evasions — of what the American people want us to do.”

Public Policy Polling´s new national survey paints a rather unprecedented picture for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie´s 2016 aspirations -- one that is alternatively beneficial and uncomfortable. According to PPP, Christie earns favorable ratings across political ideologies, something that hasn´t been seen in a potential presidential nominee since Republican John McCain in 2008. Overall, 40 percent of Democrats, 41 percent of Republicans, and 45 percent of Independents view Christie favorably. He is the only potential 2016 candidate who earns favorable views across party lines

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a personal reason for wanting to ban discrimination in the workplace. "My niece is a lesbian," Reid told the Huffington Post on Wednesday. "She´s a school teacher. Her employment shouldn´t be affected with that. We should have a law that says that, not just the good graces of wherever you work." Reid´s revelation is just the latest example of a member of Congress explaining a personal reason behind a political stance.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) predicted Thursday that President Obama will renounce his signature healthcare law in the face of mounting conservative opposition to the reform. Bachmann said the ongoing scandal involving the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and challenges in implementing the Affordable Care Act put the law´s survival "back on the table." "The issue is now revived," she said at a press conference. "We believe that the heat will become so hot that even the president of the United States will be forced to repudiate his signature legislation."

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.
