Obama Said to Consider Vogue
Editor Wintour for U.K. Embassy

Bloomberg, by Hans Nichols

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 12/4/2012 12:09:31 AM

President Barack Obama is considering nominating Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, to be either his next ambassador to the U.K. or France, as he looks to reward his biggest fundraisers with embassies that never seem out of fashion, according to two people familiar with the matter. Wintour, 63, may have some competition for the London posting, with Matthew Barzun, the finance chairman o Obama’s presidential campaign, also interested in the job, officially known as ambassador to the Court of St. James’s, said the people, who requested anonymity.

Comments:
Both Wintour and Barzun raised more than a half a million for Obie´s campaign.

Is the acid-tongued arrogant harpy that popular in the UK? As I recall she is only half Brit.

Perhaps Barbara will be appointed as embassador to Palestine while paying back his campaign husslers.

Yet more surrealism as we slide deeper into the Twilight Zone. I feel more and more as though I have slipped into some alternate reality, and wishing I could get back to some semblance of sanity and reality. I, keep saying nothing The Won does will surprise me anymore, yet, he keeps finding a way.

Wintour? Really? Really?!

Oh, by all means, consider a magazine editor bundler for an embassy post in lieu of someone who actually knows anything about diplomcy. No wonder the Stateless Department is such a cesspool of incompetents.

Despite her journalistic family background and some British aristocratic blood, my feeling is the British will not be pleased. She is said to be the magazine editor on whom "The Devil Wears Prada" is based--and her nickname has long been "Nuclear Wintour" for her emotionless demeanor and her attitude to staff--and anyone else who displeases her.

Is that a wig she wears? If yes, can´t she afford a new one? She´s been wearing the same ol´ thing forever. She doesn´t look like anything I´d want in my house. The Queen herself looked more pleasant when Barack Obama committed the ultimate gaffe and toasted the Queen during the middle of the "God Save the Queen!"

“Nuclear Wintour” is a perfect nickname for Wintour. She does remind one of Victoria Beckham, as in both would rather die than crack a smile.

I like Wintour’s hair style. It’s classic, it isn’t bedroom hair (it’s time for the Duchess of Cambridge to trim the mane), it suits her and it cleverly hides her profile. Her support of Obama, however, is disgusting, considering that her fame and fortune derive entirely from the rich people that he despises.

Um, that hairdo cleverly hides cosmetic surgery scars. Wintour could give Pelosi a run for her money in a "who has the most ironed face?" contest.

Her purported pedigree. No wonder the arriviste Obamas are in a swoon over her:

Wintour was born in London in 1949 to Charles Wintour (1917–1999), editor of the Evening Standard, and Eleanor "Nonie" Trego Baker, daughter of a Harvard law professor. The couple married in 1940 and divorced in 1979. Wintour was named after her maternal grandmother, Anna Baker (born Gilkynson), a merchant´s daughter from Pennsylvania.[2]
Audrey Slaughter, a magazine editor who founded publications such as Honey and Petticoat, is her stepmother.[3][4] The late-18th-century novelist Lady Elizabeth Foster, Duchess of Devonshire, was Wintour´s great-great-great-grandmother, and Sir Augustus Vere Foster, the last Baronet of that name, was a granduncle.[5]

As long as we´re dishing on Wintour, might as well throw this one out. The story of how Obie got her in 2008 after she got miffed at Hillary. After this incident she headed straight for Beverly Hills, where she staged a big celebrity fundraiser for Obie, and never looked back:

Anyway Anna Wintour decided to relax her rigorous 118-pound weight limit to allow Hillary Clinton to pose for the cover, and all was set when Hillary backed out at the last minute and stood up writer Julia Reed. (Insert foreign expression denoting "As if!") So in her February issue Anna decided to snipe back, offering Hillary some attractive fashions to consider anyway, and this little musing on Hillary´s lack of courage.

"Imagine my amazement, then, when I learned that Hillary Clinton, our only female presidential hopeful, had decided to steer clear of our pages at this point in her campaign for fear of looking too feminine.

And then she really gets going!

The notion that a contemporary woman must look mannish in order to be taken seriously as a seeker of power is frankly dismaying. How has our country come to this?...This is America, not Saudi Arabia."

#35, I was just in England for 2 weeks and met a lot of Brits who loathe zippy and are extremely offended by his returning the Churchill bust. I told them that half of America is just as offended as they are and we have to live with the idiot.

#43: I´m reminded of the breath mint commercial: Two busts, two busts, two busts in one!

No, not referring to the Churchill bust. However, that´s actually a rather fuzzy story. There evidently are/were three copies of the Churchill bust. Which one went where, etc., wasn´t really clear in the material I read. In the end, there were many things far more important than running down and memorizing the details of that story.

However, we should remember that we fought several wars against Great Britain. Remember Tony Blair "apologizing" for burning down the White House? I wouldn´t bet against Stinky fomenting another round with them.

Why Did Lois Lerner

Among the criteria by which the Internal Revenue Service selected groups in for its political targeting program in 2012 was "educating on the constitution and bill of rights" (lowercase in original), according to the Inspector General´s Report. Lois Lerner, who directs the office at the center of that effort, has received her own education in the Constitution.(Snip)Josh Marshall, proprietor of TalkingPointsMemo.com, concedes that Lerner "has every right" to invoke the Fifth Amendment "and may be wise to do so. But that´s a decision that simply is not consistent with her remaining in her job.

CINCINNATI, OH - The claim that the ongoing IRS scandal is limited to low level employees is falling apart. The six Cincinnati workers we have identified, who sent scrutinizing letters to conservative groups with words including "patriot, liberty, tea party or 9-12" in their names are Mitchel Steele, Carly Young, Joseph Herr, Stephen Seok, Liz Hofacre and a woman identified only as Ms. Richards. (Snip) Because all six of our IRS workers have different individual and territory managers, Cindy Thomas is one manager they all have common.

We can now officially call the Obama administration besieged. One of President Obama´s underlings is set to plead her Fifth Amendment Right against self-incrimination in the burgeoning IRS scandal. Apple is one of America´s most profitable companies. And it pays a substantial income tax bill to the U.S. government -- by its own account, $6 billion in 2012 and an estimated $7 billion this year. But many tax experts and lawmakers say Apple´s tax bill should be bigger. A lot bigger. The concern is that Apple (Snip), while complying with U.S. laws, is nevertheless taking advantage of loopholes in the tax code to shift a substantial amount of income to offshore subsidiaries in low-tax countries. The result is billions of dollars in profits every year that go untaxed.

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
