| Illinois has a reputation for being an expensive and difficult place to do business, a big reason why the state has the ninth-highest unemployment rate in the country, higher than every state that borders it. Employers want to locate where they are welcome. So you might expect that the people who write laws in Illinois — land of 8.8 percent unemployment, $96 billion pension debt, $8 billion in unpaid bills — would be falling all over themselves to welcome business.

Less than two months ago these very same editors endorsed Obama but today they admit that excessive regulations imposed on businesses is bad the for the economy and lead to higher unemployment. Go figure.

I can´t believe this. They back the mulatto, and now they are complaining? I hope to God their unemployment rate increases and businesses start leaving the state in droves.

IL can join NY for businesses and people fleeing the state. Both states can lose even more House seats in the next census and send them to the South where they would be put to good use.

Thousands of people with serious medical problems are in danger of losing coverage under President Obama´s health care overhaul because of cost overruns, state officials say. At risk is the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, a transition program that´s become a lifeline for the so-called uninsurables -- people with serious medical conditions who can´t get coverage elsewhere. The program helps bridge the gap for those patients until next year, when under the new law insurance companies will be required to accept people regardless of their medical problems.

The weakest recovery in the nation’s history continues. On Wednesday, payroll processing firm ADP reported that private sector businesses created a disappointing 119,000 jobs in the month of April. April has been a freakishly cold month across much of the northern USA, bringing misery to millions of sun-starved and winter-weary residents from the Rockies to the Midwest. "The weather map ... looks like something out of The Twilight Zone," Minneapolis meteorologist Paul Douglas of WeatherNation TV wrote on his blog last week. Record cold and snow has been reported in dozens of cities, with the worst of the chill in the Rockies, upper Midwest and northern Plains. Several baseball games have been snowed out in both Denver and Minneapolis.

A jury in South Bend, Indiana has found that fraud put President Obama and Hillary Clinton on the presidential primary ballot in Indiana in the 2008 election. Two Democratic political operatives were convicted in the illegal scheme after only three hours of deliberations in South Bend. They were found guilty on all counts. Recently, the intelligence agency of a government our State Department classifies as “innocent” of sponsoring terror (Russia’s) warned the U.S. government to keep an eye on a potential immigrant terrorist. That individual was Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the slain bomber of the Boston Marathon. However, U.S. security agencies found no cause to apprehend, much less deport, the “terrorist suspect” at the time. The Jewish Federation of Nashville and a group of outraged parents are calling for a school district to pull a high school textbook they believe promotes bias against Israel. The book, “The Cultural Landscape: An Introduction to Human Geography,” is used in Advanced Placement classes in Williamson County, south of Nashville. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.

A healthcare provider has sued the Internal Revenue Service and 15 of its agents, charging they wrongfully seized 60 million medical records from 10 million Americans. The name of the provider is not yet known, United Press International said. But Courthouse News Service said the suit claims the agency violated the Fourth Amendment in 2011, when agents executed a search warrant for financial data on one employee – and that led to the seizure of information on 10 million, including state judges. The search warrant did not specify that the IRS could take medical information, UPI said.
