Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D.-Texas) said last week that Republicans are being "frivolous" when they talking about reforming Social Security as a means toward fixing the federal government´s fiscal problems because Social Security is "solvent." According to Social Security´s trustees, the program has operated in the red each of the last two years. “Who wants to make a fuss about Social Security when it´s solvent?” she asked on Friday. “And then who wants to make a fuss about Medicare when it´s solvent until 2024?” In remarks on the House floor, the Texas Democrat said Republicans have a “frivolous perspective”
Comments: This delusional lying moron is the perfect example of why we are in the fix we are in.
Texas why is it that you continue to elect the witless and uninformed to represent you in Washington? Being a liberal and a Democrat I guess allows you to be stupoid beyond the understanding of the human race.
SS has been paying out more than the tax has been taking in for at least one year. It is one more part of the deficit. Adding to the debt. Like the Postal service, and Medicare, and everything else the feds try to run.
#7, blacks don´t hold the francise when it comes to fools. Typically the number of fools in a specific group is roughly proportional to the percentage size of that group. If you would like to see a fine example of a fool in an other than black group, I suggest you look in the mirror. Racist remarks have no place in this forum.
Don´t worry...Obama wants to extend the "Taxcuts" for working Americans which will help "Save" Social Security....you know the 2.9% reduction in SS "contributions/Tax" which actual funds it. "By spending more while receiving less this program will then be as successful as our plans for American Business Growth"
The real irony in Sheila Jackson Lee´s remarks is that black men are cheated the most on social security. black men are more likely to be single, so if they die before retirement age, they lose everything. Compounding that is the fact that black male life expectancy is substantially less than that of whites, so even if they live to collect social security, they will not collect for nearly as many years as whites. I would think that an african american congresswoman, who represents a majority minority congressional district, would ponder that irony.
Since we are in the South and our elections are overseen by the Federal Courts, we play a game every 10 years of defining election maps. Sheila is protected by court battles lasting more that a year to play connect the minorities. The game has become more complicated because minorities are intermixed. In cities like Houston or Dallas, white voters are shunted to surrounding districts while the remainder is grouped into intertwined Hispanic or black dominated districts. It gets harder and harder and a 3rd minority (gay) might well make it impossible.
How can anyone with an IQ that cracks 2 vote for this revoltingly stupid woman? She´s a national joke. Next time she´s seen will be at the State of the Union address hanging herself over the aisle to hug jug ears as he approaches the podium—her only claim to fame is being photographed trying to grab whoever is president coming down the aisle so she can add his picture to her scrap book. Sorry, I forgot to mention another claim to fame: having government cars ordered to pick her up to drive her one block to her office— the woman is the epitomé of classless nouveau riche. She´d do better as a circus clown and doesn´t even need a costume. Being "herself" would do the trick.
In the past there have been all sorts of presidential fibbing. Some chief executives make promises that they know they probably cannot or will not keep. Before his reelection for his third term in the midst of a world war, Franklin Roosevelt swore that he would never send American boys to fight in a foreign war. In just a little over a year, he did just that. Lyndon Johnson likewise before the 1964 election said he would not send troops to Vietnam. But once reelected, he sent nearly 200,000 troops to fight the North Vietnamese; by the time he left
Colorado has been taken over by Democrats over the past few election cycles. But left-leaning PPP’s latest poll suggests that the Democrats are losing their grip on the state. The recalls of two Democratic State Senators in September weren’t an anomaly when it comes to how Colorado voters are feeling about the state legislature. Republicans lead the statewide generic legislative ballot by a 47/42 margin, including a 41/30 advantage with independents. Those numbers are perhaps also indicative of how much trouble Democrats would be in at the top of the ticket next year if the GOP candidate fields were a little
President Barack Obama declined even to attend the funeral of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Instead of attending, he dispatched a pair of former secretaries of state to attend. Obama attended the funeral of Nelson Mandela in South Africa and addressed the service. He also mixed and mingled, and CNN had its cameras trained on his every move, capturing this revealing moment. “Castro! He’s shaking hands with Raul Castro!” Amanpour shouts as Obama seeks Castro out, bows to the Cuban dictator and takes his hand. After Amanpour gushed over Obama’s shaking hands with the head of a brutal communist regime
The Democratic pollster Democracy Corps, commissioning research from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, recently dug into that foreign species commonly referred to as “the conservative voter.” In a dispatch that reads like the curious field notes Charles Darwin scribbled while observing the natural wonders of the Galapagos, the Democratic pollsters have found that the family Republican is made up of a variety of genera, including moderates, tea partiers and socially conservative evangelicals. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the pollsters discovered that these factions are distinct and not especially friendly towards one another; but the report is not without surprising findings. The top of that list is the
WASHINGTON — C. Steven Tucker, the man who helped cancer patientBill Elliott regain his health insurance policy, now believes that he is purposefully being intimidated by the IRS. The Washington Times reported on Thursday that Tucker and Elliott received notices from the IRS on the same day, but for different matters. Since receiving his first notice, Tucker has experienced a series of events that have left him feeling targeted, but very determined. In a follow-up interview with Tucker on Dec. 8, more was learned about the specifics surrounding the IRS actions being taken against him. The Washington Times has also confirmed
OCALA, Fla. — In life, communication is everything. While we can say a great deal without ever speaking one word, the importance of language stands without parallel. In today’s America, many no longer see the value in having a national language. For them, it is incomprehensible as to why English should be emphasized. The reason for said mindset is multiculturalism. It is spreading across the Western world like wildfire. This has led not only to cultural barriers, but severe religious and ethnic conflicts. “Adopting English as our official language would be a healthy step toward slowing and reversing multiculturalism,” Robert Vandervoort, the executive
In a ruling likely to be hailed as an affirmation of laws protecting journalists, New York´s top court ruled that Foxnews.com reporter Jana Winter cannot be forced to reveal to a Colorado court her sources for a bombshell story following the Aurora movie massacre. The state Court of Appeals reversed a lower court´s ruling that resulted in Winter being subpoenaed by New York to appear in Colorado, which has a weaker shield law protecting journalists. "... an order from a New York court directing a reporter to appear in another state where, as here, there is a substantial likelihood that she will
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a last minute decision not to participate in a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, despite having notified the South African government that he would attend the event. The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister in Johannesburg. The Prime Minister’s Office found that the trip would have cost roughly 7 million shekels ($2.4 million) – 2.8 million shekels for chartering a private El Al plane and a further 3.2 million shekels for
President Obama, former president George W. Bush and their wives departed Washington Monday morning on Air Force One on their way to a memorial service in South Africa for Nelson Mandela. The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
