MSNBC´s Melissa Harris-Perry:
´This Is No Country For Young
Black Men´

Another black teenager was killed in Florida last week by an older, non-black assailant, and the media - just as they did in the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case - are predictably taking sides before all the facts are in. MSNBC´s Melissa Harris-Perry did her part Saturday saying in a piece about the incident, "This is no country for young black men" (video follows with transcript and commentary): MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY: The police acted the very next day. A man was arrested, charged and is in custody, being held without bond. So this, the alleged shooting of Jordan Russell Davis by

"This is no country for young black men". Especially those with criminal intent. Actually, this is no country for anyone with criminal intent. People are taking their safty into their own hands since the Law enforcement forces are only designed to make an appearance "after the fact".

"Equality" requires that the death of each and every person be treated with the utmost dignity. Surely, the measure of the tragedy will not pivot on the skin colors involved.

Is this the message (from Ms. Harris-Perry) of someone who wants greater racial harmony ?

Greater peace and understanding ?

Greater sympathy for one´s fellow man ?

Who is stoking the fires of racial animosity ?

....and why ?

If they pointed a shotgun, guess who started the violence? Of course, after it goes bad, they quickly ditch the gun.

Waiting for facts. Assuming that the media is anti-white, anti-gun and anti-self defense.

Please. Melissa Harris Perry can not relate to the struggles of black inner city kids. She was raised in upper middle class Charlottesville,VA. Her parents were college professors. She went to Wake Forest, Duke, and was a professor at Princeton. And we´re supposed to believe she relates to the average black American? Girl is a community organizer in the Alinsky vein.

The media is interested in inciting blacks against whites, and will sensationalize every racial incident they can.

They are uninterested in black on white crime or black on black crime.

Lets face it, the media,(obama press)are scum.

Given the amply documented black-on-black homicide rate(and crime rate in general) the remarks by this commentator represent culpable ignorance - or deliberate dishonesty. Attitudes like this make a bad situation worse. They are the major obstacle to solving the problem. This woman and those who provide her a forum really should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to confuse and obscure the issues. There is something approaching genuine evil in such mendacity, which has consequences no one can know but which are bound in some instances to be bad. This woman is darkening counsel by words without wisdom. Why she is doing so is known, if it is known at all, only to herself. IIt cannot be a mistake. She has to know the facts. She has chosen to misrepresent them and to promote fallacious beliefs. She is certainly capable of better. Anyone is.

FWIW -- one black male out of every three will have a felony conviction during his lifetime.

Young black males are 1.2% of the population, but account for 27% of all homicides.

Is there a pattern there someplace? Some point of commonality? Something an honest view would instantly reveal, that preconceptions might obscure?

One can stand on a boat and marvel at how all that water can manage to rush past, or one can notice that it´s the boat that´s moving. Well, not everyone can notice that the boat´s moving, apparently....

I´m going to do the ´conservative´ thing... you know, wait for the facts. But a couple items:

Not out the realm of possibility to have some unhinged person pull up to a car and start shooting but... Fired 8 ROUNDS?? You mean shells? And, what, he reloaded? Rounds sounds like bullets were fired but they saw a shotgun? Further, most of the shotguns I´ve heard of might have one in the chamber and five in the magazine... you know, the tube for the cartridges before firing... but 8?

Researchers at Princeton and Northwestern universities have pored over 1,800 US policies and concluded that America is an oligarchy. Instead of looking out for the majority of the country’s citizens, the US government is ruled by the interests of the rich and the powerful, they found. No great surprises there, then. But the government is not the only American power whose motivations need to be rigourously examined. Some 2,400 miles away from Washington, in Silicon Valley, Google is aggressively gaining power with little to keep it in check. It has cosied up to governments around the world so effectively that its chairman,

Then-Sens. Joe Biden and John Kerry were both opposed to Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health-care reform program, according to documents released by the Clinton presidential library. Clinton marked a handwritten “No” beside Biden’s name on Clinton’s list of Capitol Hill lawmakers that she needed to win over for her universal health care law, known as the “Clinton health plan” or “Hillarycare,” to pass. John Kerry, meanwhile, was marked with a “Probably not.” “Hillarycare” ended up dying in the Democratic-controlled Senate in 1994 without coming to a floor vote. As vice president, Biden has been a loyal supporter of the Obama administration’s

Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Alexis de Tocqueville, author of the classic Democracy in America, were born in different times and places. But the French aristocrat and American think tanker have the measure of the federal behemoth in the age of Obama. Writing in 1835, Tocqueville eloquently predicted how it would function, while Crews today supplies in his annual compilation of federal rules and regulations, “10,000 Commandments,” the hard numbers that describe the behemoth´s contemporary reach and costs. It is always worthwhile to revisit de Tocqueville’s description of what he called the

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after
