WASHINGTON--It’s health care brinksmanship, with hundreds of billions of dollars and the well-being of millions of people at stake. President Barack Obama’s health care law expands Medicaid, the federal-state health program for low-income people, but cost-wary states must decide whether to take the deal. Turn it down, and governors risk coming off as callous toward their neediest residents. Not to mention the likely second-guessing for walking away from a pot of federal dollars estimated at nearly $1 trillion nationally over a decade. FTA: For every $1 the state spends on Medicaid, they will receive $9 from the Federal Government.

10 million of those eligible for Medicaid and CHIPS don´t sign up for the program until they are in the hospital. This saves them from paying any premium.
Obamacare created a federal program to cover the uninsured with preexisting conditions. Only 21,000 have signed up for a program predicted to have 375,000 by the end of 2010. And costs per patient are more than double both the predicted and the average of state high risk pools.
Its really silly to believe anything the federal government tells you. They intended to blackmail the states by withholding all federal payments if the states didn´t make the change. USSC told them it had to be voluntary.

One of the bigger hescratchers of the modern era is this insane federal spending paradigm. The Feds colect 20% of all the wealth created in a year from every state. Then the Feds give that money back to the states with huge strings attached.
The states become dependant on the money stolen from them in the first place.So the answer to where does the other $9 come from is simlpe. It comes from that same states residents. In the end every state buys into the pipe dream that somehow letting the feds take all this money away from them will magicvally end up with an even greater sum coming back.
Not happening now and never will. Let the states collect the money they need for highways (other than interstates) medicaid and all the rest. A state legislature is going to be far more cognizant of its citizens than far off washington. And unlike the Feds, state DoJ´s very often prosecute pols, or more accurately Hacks (except here in Mass, but this is hardly America)

Under Obamacare Medicare, as a result of its being defunded by Barry, will go away. People on Medicare will in time be transferred to Medicaid, which will become the only Federal healthcare program. Folks 65 and older, who have paid into Medicare all their working lives, will now have to compete against the poor for healthcare services, hence the forthcoming rationing of services.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. A healthcare provider has sued the Internal Revenue Service and 15 of its agents, charging they wrongfully seized 60 million medical records from 10 million Americans. The name of the provider is not yet known, United Press International said. But Courthouse News Service said the suit claims the agency violated the Fourth Amendment in 2011, when agents executed a search warrant for financial data on one employee – and that led to the seizure of information on 10 million, including state judges. The search warrant did not specify that the IRS could take medical information, UPI said.
