Ana and I picked up nine year old Stefan from school one October day, a gorgeous Indian summer day before the winter chill. A musical prodigy, little Stefan is a genius with a penchant for Italian food. Half a block from the art school is a restaurant called Da Vinci’s, always bustling with patrons dining under the grape vine pergola. I was happy to see so many people out to lunch, able to afford food and particularly restaurant food, previously considered a luxury under communism that only the ruling elite could afford and felt entitled to have and enjoy.
Comments: An excellent description of what it was like to live under communism.
The only thing that will open the eyes of the O voters is when the WH finally figures out how to hijack their 401K accounts. But by then, all their howling will be too little, too late. The damage will have been done. Elections have consequences O voters.
Unless the republicans suddenky grow a pair, we are doomed to thisfste and worse. I am living proof. I made a decent 6-figure salary , having worked very hard to build my reputation within the compny i worked for. I was laid off at end of 2008´ becausethey feared Øbamacare...(their pension fund is bursting w cash andntheyve had record profits duringnthe global recession. Go figure). And I cant find a full time job anywhere. Now Ø and the Marxist ticks in the demoncrap party want my 401-k, or whats left of it given the erosion of value due to currency devaluation and anemic returns on investment. When will people wake up? Or will they ever? I am NOT optimistic.
The House Republican leadership with its Dec. 3 vote to extend the ban on “undetectable” guns proved again it excels at political cowardice and betrayal of conservatives. Do not bother looking for the roll call of the yeas and nays on the vote, the GOP leaders, working with Democrats, suspended the rules and passed the measure with a voice vote—with maybe 15 actual congressmen on the House floor. In another profile in cowardice, Republicans put up Rep. J. Howard Coble (R.-N.C) to sponsor the bill, H.R. 3626. The 82-year-old congressman announced his retirement a month ago, so let’s just say he took
In a world where the New York Times can posit that the ‘Knockout Game’ Trend has no import—and gets away with it—no one can know the future, but with the way things are going it is only commonsense to worry your way into trying to do something about it. People old enough to remember 70 years of Communism in the Soviet Union and its satellites before communism made its hurried move for a safe North America landing, stand their ground against the misery of Marxism planned for America by President Barack Obama. But young people, who now over populate the ‘Me
In 1995, a book written by a little known community organizer was released. Dreams From My Father is a ‘Fairytale for Adults’, many of whom swallowed it hook, line and sinker. In 2013, a book written by Jane Sutcliffe, entitled Barack Obama, making the claim that white Americans are racists, made it to required reading status at Bluffview Elementary School in Dupo, Ill. The book Barack Obama is a ‘Fairytale for Children’, many of whose imaginations are occupied elsewhere. That’s because the actual timing of Sutcliffe’s Barack Obama as a Grade 4 must-read is way off. Children in the Grade 4 age group—thousands
Britain’s Court of Appeal upheld a ban of a radio ad this week that had initially been banned by the then Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt and the Radio Advertising Clearance Centre on the grounds that it was directed toward a political end. Media political advertising is not permitted in the UK. The ad, by Christian Community Partnership (CCP), asked people to identify if they had experienced discrimination in the workplace as a result of their faith. CCP publishes several magazines as well as owning Premier Christian Radio, the national broadcaster that was to carry the commercial.
The nightmare world of propaganda and psych ops the Obama administration uses to frighten its citizens into mass subjugation has just exploded into daytime reality. In an era where Identity Theft is ruining lives, the headline warning from yesterday’s INVESTORS.com is the ObamaCare Website is Like ‘IdentityTheft.Gov. “Security: Computer security experts testify that the unfinished health care marketplace portal places the personal information of millions at risk on a poorly designed and built site that is a hacker’s dream.” (INVESTORS.com, Nov. 20, 2013) “Not only is the poorly designed and still only partially built ObamaCare website, Healthcare.gov vulnerable to attack by computer hackers,
Michelle Obama wants the proletariat to know that her husband “is in the bathroom all the time just singing.” When he’s not playing Spades with Reggie Love, getting ready to take credit for the death of Osama bin Laden and not ducking duty, he’s in the john warbling like a canary. “In an interview on BET last night with Bow Wow and Keshia Chante, First Lady Michelle Obama talked up her husband, President Barack Obama. “I always say my husband has got swag,” said Mrs. Obama. “He’s got a little swag.” The audience applauded.” (Drudge Report, Nov. 20, 2013) “Mrs. Obama also said
Last Christmas Michelle and Barack Obama chose a black-and-white photograph of Wonder Dog ‘Bo’ cavorting in the snow on the White House lawn as the centerpiece for their official Christmas card. As Todd Starnes of Fox News pointed out: “The 2012 card made no mention of any specific holiday, nor did it include a Bible verse noting the Birth of Christ.” The card emailed to millions and Vanity Fair-deemed as “best ever” made Portuguese Water Dog Bo ‘Christmas Dog in the Manger’. This year, Barack Obama trumps Bo as Christmas Dog in the Manger. Images from BarackObama.com, depicting two talking digital snowmen, advise recipients
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
