Republicans Go To Obama School

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Demoralized Republicans arrived in Boston Wednesday night for a rare moment in American politics: They came to learn from Democrats. Barack Obama´s campaign schooled Mitt Romney’s in November, something of which the Republicans who gathered at the quadrennial, off-the-record Harvard Institute of Politics Campaign Managers Conference were intensely aware. And while the proceedings of the event are under embargo until the institute releases audio transcripts of the proceedings, some participants shared their reactions.

What´d they learn? How to encourage voter fraud? Buy votes with promises for stuff? How to intimidate voters with thug groups?

WARNING: The following quotes are puke-inducing:

When it was finally over, more than one Republican walked out shaking his head. “We weren’t even running in the same race,” one downtrodden Romney aide told BuzzFeed after hearing the details of the Obama operation. “They were just amazing.”

Does this mean that our side is now going to learn how to steal elections, lie about our opponents, scare-monger and steal public taxpayer dollars to intimidate voters and buy voting-machine software that changes our votes?

This is maddening. If true, maybe we do need a new Party. Wusses...

I can hope some of them were thinking "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

But sounds more like Stockholm Syndrome.

Is this supposed to be a 12 step political awakening? The GOP doesn`t even have enough sense to steer clear of Harvard for goodness sakes. When they get to step 12 the dems will tell them they`ll never win another election and to come over to our side.

I would expect that the Dems utilized social networking sites and countless blogs to create a data base, and then engaged in pinpoint micro-targeting of voter interests. Their standard coalition of groups was thus expanded into thousands of mini-groups from back-packers to dog-lovers. Each interest group received specially tailored messages and the opportunity to interact, leading directly to their data base for the GOTV campaign. That and the usual dirty tricks familiar to Chicago politics.

Do you really suppose the commies would reveal their methods of fraud? At best, they would present some that could be possible, but in the end, why would they tell their opposition how they did it so that the pubs could reverse engineer to counter? Unless, of course, they were already advancing to a different strategy, harder to detect and defend against...

This is only more smoke and mirrors, designed to distract.

"Fashion retailer Topman has withdrawn a clothing line that featured Nazi insignia. The embarrassed clothier apologized after the blunder was pointed out by an online shopper. The "grunge look" Horace jacket — which sold for around $300 — featured an emblem worn by SS troops. The ancient Norse odal rune, reports The Mirror, is similar to a swastika and was used to symbolize Hitler´s belief in a pure Aryan race. It was worn by ethnic Germans of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division in Croatia, who fought alongside the German army. The Nazi faux pas was spotted by the friend

A day after the U.S. said it would not allow Iran’s proposed U.N. envoy Hamid Aboutalebi, a diplomat with links to the 1979 hostage crisis, to enter the country, Iran has dismissed the decision and affirmed it would take the issue directly to the U.N. “We do not have a replacement for Mr. Aboutalebi and we will pursue the matter via legal mechanisms anticipated in the United Nations,” said Abbas Araghchi, a senior Foreign Ministry official, as quoted by Iran’s official IRNA news agency. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Friday the U.S. had informed the U.N. and Iran it would not issue the visa.

Stephen Colbert, the political comedian made popular on "Comedy Central," will be taking over for David Letterman as the host of CBS’ "The Late Show" once Letterman retires. But Colbert is no ordinary host. The late night comedian built himself up as a satirical political opinion character who rarely shows a normal side. The New York Times published an article in January 2012 that looked at the many sides of Colbert, including his connection to God through what his mother taught him. “She taught me to be grateful for my life regardless of what that entailed, and that’s directly related to

$6 Billion Goes Missing at State Department

The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors. In a special “management alert” made public Thursday, the State Department’s Inspector General Steve Linick warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years. The alert was just the latest example of the federal government’s continued struggle with oversight over its outside contractors. The lack of oversight “exposes the department to significant financial risk,” the auditor said. “It creates conditions conducive to fraud, as corrupt individuals may attempt

Internet users and space enthusiasts are about to come one step closer to deciding the future of space travel. NASA is using the crowdsourcing power of the Web to help to pick the final cover layer design for its next generation spacesuit, and you can vote online until April 15. More than 83,000 people had already cast their votes as of Wednesday morning on three prototypes, designed jointly by NASA engineers, suit manufacturer ILC Dover and design students from Philadelphia University. All three candidates are equally as trendy in form and function, but ultimately only one cover layer will be

The 137-page, FBI-sworn affidavit against California State Sen. Leland Yee, a Democrat who is also running for Secretary of State, and over two dozen other individuals reads like a crime thriller. Beyond the widely reported stories of alleged wire fraud, money laundering, corruption, and bribery, the affidavit contains tales of alleged murder-for-hire plots involving a political consultant close to Yee, as well as large international weapons trafficking operations. Indeed, while the media have fixated on the hypocrisy of a gun-control advocate--Yee sponsored legislation against detachable magazines, for example--alleged involvement in gun smuggling, few reports delve into the kind of weapons

Following Republican David Jolly’s win over Democrat Alex Sink in last week’s special election in Florida, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has revealed the number one word that fires up GOP voters. But more on that later. P.S. It’s not “Obama” or “ObamaCare.” The NRCC recently described to National Journal a first-of-its-kind political operation deployed on behalf of the Republican congressional candidate. The system is referred to as “Honeybadger”:

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after
