A detached Romney tends wounds in
seclusion after failed White House bid

Washington Post, by Staff

San Diego - The man who planned to be president wakes up each morning now without a plan. Mitt Romney looks out the windows of his beach house here in La Jolla, a moneyed and pristine enclave of San Diego, at noisy construction workers fixing up his next-door neighbor’s home, sending regular updates on the renovation. He devours news from 2,600 miles away in Washington about the “fiscal cliff” negotiations, shaking his head and wondering what if. Gone are the minute-by-minute schedules and the swarm of Secret Service agents. There’s no aide to make his peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

The voters made the biggest mistake ever. And many of us are sad.
We had the opportunity to elect an authentic American, who, even those who voted against him, believed he was more capable than the kenyan klown. Instead, we sent in the klown, for a second term.
there is no rational way to explain this.

I´m sure they are both upset.

Imagine knowing that you won the election and that it was stolen from you by a bunch of thugs.

It must be devastating!

Very well said #1. The American people will be the real losers after this thug gets done with America.

Obama never loses.
He never negotiates in good faith.
He lies at will.
He destroys foreign policy.
He slays our ambassadors and lies about it.
He hates Israel and treats Netanyahu like dirt.
He uses the EPA as a goon squad against our industries.
He hijacks our Dept of Energy to push green energy.

Wickedness incarnate.

I am sad that we will not have a chance to restore DIGNITY and HONOR to the White House. America will be dragged through the dirt for another 4 years.
But hey, there´s always an Obamapho for everyone.

The media would have us think the Romney´s are broken. They happen to have a strong faith, a strong family and their own money. Lots of us are sad but sad for our country.

Massive voter fraud and not a peep out of anybody.

I´d be depressed too...

After listeing to the lies, the attemps to smear his good name, knowing that voter fraud played a large part of the loss and then hearing your supposed "friends" in your own party slam you after the loss it tends to be a "downer."

BUT...a family of faith that has already fought (and beaten back) breast cancer and MS with grace and dignity will be fine.

Reply 9 - Posted by: killerbee, 12/1/2012 6:07:21 PM     (No. 9043501)

What´s he supposed to be doing? He isn´t a member of congress or the governor of a state or any other public position, so why can´t he take a well-deserved break?

I guess someone doesn´t want to talk about Obama´s ridiculously insulting proposal to (not) avoid the fiscal cliff. Or the continued revelations of Susan Rice´s various incidents of incompetence and perfidy. Or his very special expensive vacation. Or ATF agents being demoted and discharged because of Fast and Furious (what´s that?). Or all the other ongoing stories that tell the true story of the worst president in the history of the US.

Snarky comment about Ann Romney crying & horses.
A pox on the Washington Post!

Reply 11 - Posted by: Susannah, 12/1/2012 6:12:29 PM     (No. 9043505)

I´m tired of hearing that Romney didn´t "connect" with people. Tens of thousands of people stood out in the rain and sleet for hours, all over the country, waiting to see him. Obama couldn´t draw flies to honey. So who did a bteer job of connecting?

And if we´ve come to the point where a candidate who conducts himself with dignity and reserve--qualities we used to admire--is unacceptable because he´s dignified and reserved, then we´re lost.

Gee, more "breaking news" from the WaPoop! Got news for them, the Romney´s have NO wounds compared to what is going to happen to this Country thanks to the outright THEFT of the Election and leftist-idiots like the ones toiling away at rags like theirs, NYSlimes and the rest of the rabble. Don´t worry about the Romney´s WaPoop "staff", they will be fine. This Country, not so much...

One of the greatest disappointments has to be watching what is happening in D.C., when he genuinely believes he knows what to do to turn things around, that he was "this close" to beginning the work of doing that, and knowing that he can´t do anything about it now.

I will never understand how people could have voted for Obama and not Romney. Romney would have been so much better! But, my stupid in-laws voted Obama. The big guy thinks the dems are for the working guy. He is so wrong.

He has a plan. To be a devoted husband, a great father and grandfather, and the successful businessman he´s always been.

Obama is the one without a plan. I think he made a critical error this week, when he insisted upon having the tax cuts now and spending cuts later. People are tired of his tax and spend ways. I think he could have gotten away with it if he had even pretended that he wanted to rein in spending.

He has had several rounds of stimulus spending with no results. How much longer can he get away with this? I know liberals are stupid and want their safety net, but they are going to be losing their jobs as well. It is easier for liberals when only the nameless "rich guys" are suffering.

In 2010 at least we got the House. What did this Kleenex peddler get us now? Not even the Senate! Throw Boehner and McConnell out, they are self serving and care only about themselves.
I am furious how the Romneys were treated by the gutter media and the gay community organizing thug!

This article is a lot of BS, 98% of it being conjecture, fantasy and wishful
thinking built around the simple facts that he lost,is in this location, and occasionally has visitors. It is a rock sandwich and a pathetic excuse for reporting journalism, and the author, the editor, and the publisher should be ashamed.

Let the man alone.

Here´s what I´m hoping. The person(s) who falsified the bonus birth certificate presented on the WH website would get a huge case of the guilts and he would come forward and say so and the many ACORN folks behind the scenes who tampered with the early voting ballots (many virtually disappearing)and with the machines in the morning hours of Nov 6 would be found out...and everyone who saw Obama in that gay bathhouse in Chicago in 2007 would fess up. On the subject, the great solace for Romney is that he is a fine man, an honest father and husband and many folks liked him alot. He has nothing to be ashamed of. I believe that he really won. But if we don´t get voter I.D. laws in all the states, there is no reason to have another election. Period.

Between the huge crowdws supporting Romney, the articles I´ve read on voting machine software hacks in the four critical states and the 0"bummer statement at poll closing time saying, "don´t worry, we´ve got the votes" , I am convinced the election was stolen.

Reply 31 - Posted by: Burger, 12/1/2012 7:36:41 PM     (No. 9043590)

To Win the next Election the Republican Party needs to do things it simply will not do. First, pull your kids out of public school, and file a lawsuit over property taxes. The public school system is a tax funded army of supporters for the Democrat party. They supply warm bodies, feet on the ground, and indoctrinate children. The public school system is so invasive that it generally enjoys primary employer status in many small communities. Unless, and Until, The GOP makes a direct assault on this government institution, Liberty dies.

Reply 36 - Posted by: farmwife, 12/1/2012 7:46:05 PM     (No. 9043609)

What Romney is doing is living his life. And no doubt looking to find ways to protect himself and his family from the crap that will be coming down the pike for the next four years. Or more.

Reply 37 - Posted by: ginadee, 12/1/2012 7:50:13 PM     (No. 9043611)

I believe the Romney´s are already fine. They have a strong and loving family reinforced with a strong faith in God.
I believe Mitt Romney will go on to do great things with little notice.....you know ..the things you do when no one is looking. Who knows? Maybe God has blessed him with the loss. Maybe God has bigger and better plans for him.

The Wash. Post article was so disgusting.

I can easily identify with the guy who loaded up the family truckster, put the dog on top, and set out with his wife and kids for a family adventure. It´s easy to identify with families who pay their own way.

I have nothing in common with a guy who blows millions of taxpayer dollars on lavish vacations for himself and his family, and then scolds Americans for not paying their own way.

I was an early Mitt supporter. I introduced him to my mayor in 1994 when he was a virtual unknown running against Ted Kennedy. He´s a good man. The lose just doesn´t add up. There had to have been massive voter fraud but there were still alot of dumb people out there too. I´m afraid that good people like Mitt will never win as long as there´s corruption and ignorant voters.

Why do people keep saying "Marxist" and "communist"? The word is Islamist! The White House has sided with the extreme Muslims in every case. We were told not to call the Fort Hood murderer who shouted "Allah Akbar" a terrorist and then they declared the word terrorist off limits. The Jerkster has been wearing his Allah ring since he was 18. What is so hard to understand about this?

Things might not go as well as Obama would like. After 4 more years, he and Michelle will no longer be seen as the wonder couple that the 47% believe them to be. I predict they will be loathed by even the O cult believers, MSM, Hollywood, gays etc. We are all going to get a taste of just how low he will go. He might have some illegal power for awhile but he will be hated like all arrogant ´rulers´. I mean, who has ever had to live under an egomaniac like say a Stalin, Mao, Hitler after all the promises they initially made and then grown to love them? No one. History doesn´t speak kindly of the ones of this mold..

Why on earth do they keep dragging garbage out like this? I have never seen the media try to make Gore or Kerry seem depressed or down in the dumps. In fact, they left them alone. The one good thing about this election is that not only do the dems own the disaster, but so does the media.

If there is evidence of vote fraud and a stolen election then why doesn´t the RNC spend its money on litigating the results and quit whining. The republicans have been in a under attack since at least ´92 and still don´t realize it they are in a fight. It is now do or die. M

#50 I completely agree with you - the republican party has reverted to Whigdom - it is time for it to furl its banner and go away - it´s past time for a new strong and dynamic movement to take the helm - the democrats are all out of their minds and many of them are going to reap a bitter harvest come 2013. Romney was probably too nice a guy to compete in the low down tricks of politicking.

Hold your head high Mitt, with the exception of massive voter fraud and a little over half of the American Sheeple being asleep at the wheel (or should I say asleep in the voter booth), you won the votes and heart of fine American Patriots coast to coast. You brought real Leadership and class to a Liberal Three Ring Circus...which continues today unabated...the American Sheeple were not worthy of you. Even now they continue in their slumber and blind obedience to a force that they still don´t understand!

Reply 54 - Posted by: EnsignO´Toole, 12/2/2012 12:08:00 AM     (No. 9043834)

Just remember that although Richard Nixon lost in 1960, and resurrected himself and became president in 1968 and won re-election in 1972. Anything is possible.

Romney could become a real thorn in Obama´s side, by writing articles and appearing on Fox and even some of the alphabets. He is so much smarter than Zippy, I think he could come across as an authority on fiscal issues. Little by little people would begin to wonder why he isn´t the president because he makes so much sense.

That may be just day-dreaming on my part, but I hope Romney will study what Nixon did after the 1960 loss and what he did to get back into politics. One thing is for certain, he must not use the same advisors who were handed down to him from John McCain. Romney should pay a visit to Sarah Palin, and Ann should go with him. I think they might find they have lots in common.

How can a guy this smart and experienced with campaigns, NOT have someone on staff put together some kind of polling place strategy? Did NO one in that campaign understand the need for oversight in certain counties that have a long history of overt voting fraud? The DNC sure understood what they needed to do and they did just enough to assure no recount. Even if they had to ´eject´ Republican poll watchers from EVERY Philadelphia polling place. I knew there would be fraud there, why didn´t the Republicans?

Reply 57 - Posted by: get er done, 12/2/2012 12:55:59 AM     (No. 9043873)

Ditto to #7 & #38. There was massive voter fraud in the recent presidential election and World Net Daily and Hannity.com have been reporting and talking about voter fraud.

And there now is a lawsuit in Florida challenging Obama´s electoral votes. If 16 other States´ electors refuse to vote, then the election goes to the House of Representatives (president) and Senate (vice president.

The Washington Compost has always been and continues to be a big joke. Much like the NYT this "newspaper" isn´t even fit to be in my fireplace. Did this rag print a similar story about Lurch Kerry back in 04. I can´t seem to recall one. I two am sick and tired of the main stream presstitutes saying that Romney was detached. The campaign crowds that I went to didn´t bear that nonsense out in the least. I´ve got news for the dumb liberals stinking up the Compost offices. We do have one of the most detached ingrates to ever funk up the WH in my lifetime. Heck even "BJ" Clinton was more personable than this clown(his problem was below the belt). So you guys can take this article and stick it where the sun don´t shine.

Americans are all the worse for this loss. The ComPost is called that for a reason.

We will now see our demise at the hands of amateurs, only good at destruction. zippy has gotten everything he wanted - destroy our economy, destroy our jobs and destroy our Constitution, national will and spirit. Good and evil cannot stand in the same place.

We need to go underground, keep our Faith and rebuild singly, our own personal lives and then we can win.

I feel so badly for these wonderful people, Mitt, Ann and their family who are such a great asset to our country. They are self-made and I am sure are realistic and well-adjusted people because their values are strong and they love one another.

Mitt Romney won this election and many hearts. God bless them and help us!

Hi folks. Reply 50 cites reason Repubs. gave up the right to question minority votes way back in 1982. Until this action gets resolved, GOP will never win another election. I voted straight Repub. I was called back to hear my vote was kicked back out of the box. I had to turn it over and reinsert it to make it count. My readings of election tells me that approx 16 million votes were illegal. Especially in districts where Zero got more than 100% of the votes. End of story.

The White House claim of ‘doctored

“That’s a very serious offense that happened where Republicans on the Hill, we voluntarily provided these e-mails to, took one of them, doctored it and gave it to ABC News in an attempt to smear the president.” — White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer, appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” May 19, 2013

The president hasn’t attempted to distance himself from the Associated Press snooping campaign. To the contrary, he offered “no apologies.” To be blunt, he approves the most invasive breach of the First Amendment against any news organization in the history of the republic. No president has tried this and for good reason. We now have yet another media abuse story, in a way much more severe. The Post breaks the story that the Obama administration indulged in excruciatingly invasive spying on James Rosen of Fox News and, in an unprecedented move, asserted that his newsgathering is criminal.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

In the days since the Internal Revenue Service first disclosed that it had targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, new information has emerged from both the Treasury Inspector General’s report and congressional testimony Friday that calls into question key statements made by Lois G. Lerner, the IRS’s director of the exempt organizations division. The clumsy way the IRS disclosed the issue as well as Lerner’s press briefing by phone were seen at the time as a public relations disaster.

The Obama administration’s sudden plunge into scandal territory has two aspects — the actual and the political. The first, and most important, has to do with what actually happened. Why did the administration promulgate a false account of the terror attack on Benghazi? Why did the Internal Revenue Service target conservative groups for special scrutiny? Why did the Justice Department act in an unprecedented fashion toward The Associated Press for publishing details of a foiled terror plot the White House was planning to discuss openly the next day?

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
