| U.S. Rep. Tim Scott, R-S.C., has secured a spot on the House’s powerful Ways and Means Committee next year. Scott, who has served on the GOP House leadership team since he first took office two years ago, said Friday he was honored and excited.[Snip] “I think it’s a huge benefit for the 1st District (Scott’s coastal district) because we’ll have someone who will be able to advocate on behalf of America from a 1st District perspective.” Reps. Tim Griffin, R-Ark., Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and Todd Young, R-Ind., will join Scott as new members of the committee

Glad to see that people with real life experience will be on some committees rather than one of the hundreds of attorneys who flood the halls of congress.

Big deal. Once upon a time the Ways and Means Committee meant something. Now it´s jut Obama and Boehner in a closed room who decide all spending measures. I dare this committee to exert itself.

Mike Kelly is my congressman, and he is a good man, has more real life experience than the entire kennedy clan put together.
He defeated an accidental one term congress critter, Kathy Dahlkemper, a babykilling Catholic from Erie, Pa.
And Kelly just won reelection, with an opponent who was astonishingly weak and unprepared. Missa Eaton presented herself as a psychology professor from a Penn State campus, but she was not, having taught there in prior years as a temporary faculty member.
Yet in spite of her weak credentials, and her unimposing presence, she pulled about 60 % of the vote in Erie County, Pa, which should tell you something about voter mentality here.
Kelly will make a contribution on Ways and Means. So will Scott.

And Tim Scott is a strong Tea Party and veterans supporter. This is the guy who was working behind the counter at Chick-fil-a when one of the managers began to mentor him. Long story short, Scott went to university and eventually became the owner of a local insurance agency.

#4 and he ran for offices at a progressively more important level. He simply didn´t have money, then try to buy an election. He even won with all those racist southerners, lol.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has delivered some harsh criticisms to President Barack Obama over recent controversies surrounding his administration in a speech. Citing defense ministry sources in Seoul, Yonhap said the missiles had crashed into the Sea of Japan, off the eastern coast of the Korean peninsula. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate."
