Ever watch one of those chase scenes in a cartoon where the one in the lead heads over the cliff and lands in a devastating crash at the bottom -- only to find whatever he was carrying (adding insult to injury) comes tumbling down on top of him? Well, that´s us. As we collectively head over this fiscal cliff -- we are actually over it right now -- we´re not feeling much because we´re free falling (like the cartoon character) and falling is never really that painful (though the rushing wind can chap the lips and mess up one´s hair)
It seems it will only be after a cataclysmic crash can it rise again. Part of what I´m having to cope with since Nov 6 is that it´s been inevitable since FDR. The Reagan revolution just was not enough. The die was already cast. If we´re lucky there may be a successful secessionist state to flee to.
No. Between election fraud which the Democrats have perfected and the Republicans being so weak about confronting it and all the freebies being handed out by them it´s over. Too many white voters are now voting with the Democrats for handouts and the amnesty coming for illegals we´re toast. Little barry could careless about the Constitution and I don´t see anyone confronting him about all his unconstitutional executive orders. Amnesty for illegals, forgiveness of all student loans, confiscation of 401ks, billions for his cronies it is just endless what he is doing. Who will stop him? Someone please tell me? The Supreme Court? It has become a joke along with Congress.
The whole culture of America has changed from when I was young. I grew up wanting to work hard to achieve a good life and save for the future. We have trained a couple of generations now to expect everything without having to work. The nonworking people all get FREE phones each month, and free utilities, as they have no income. Teens can get pregnant, and we pay for their medical services, pay for taxi´s to take them back and forth to the doctor; they receive many programs to take care of them, welfare, food stamps, WICK, and they do nothing to receive all of this, and are they grateful? No they just want more and more. The people who work and save are punished, because they get no interest on their money; the government prints so many dollars that the money you save becomes almost worthless. These people can buy anything they want with credit cards, they can buy a house they cannot afford with no money down. They can buy a new car with no money. Now 0bama is talking about "borrowing our 401K´s to fund his spending on these deadbeats. No this is a different world order now, and I am very afraid.
No. It has to completely crash and be put back together again from scratch. It´s like a cultural Katrina has hit us and Obama has declared us Chocolate Country now, with those in charge both encouraging and joining in the mass looting.
Not in my lifetime, and then in a form unrecognizable to those versed in the Constitution. History never repeats itself exactly, but there are often broad parallels, My crystal ball reports a course of events not unlike that experienced by post-Czarist Russia following the 1917 revolution. Pray it´s defective.
Those of us who were children of "The Greatest Generation" were handed an amazing (add all the glorious adjectives you want) country by our hardworking and thrifty parents. We squandered that good fortune, and now, no matter how hard we try, I´m afraid it´s too late to get that country back for our grandchildren.
I remember getting my back up when an LDotter called us the most Selfish Generation, but now I think he was correct. We grabbed the goodies for ourselves (Medicare et al) without thinking about our progeny. I feel ashamed.
Truth does not change. We just need to get back to the basics. America´s Founders did just that and it worked out pretty well. ´Never say, ´Never!´ Americans have always cherished freedom, as does every human heart. It isn´t too late nor is it impossible to return to the basics of our Constitutional principles. But it will take willing hearts, personal determination and individual endurance to faithfully pursue what we seem to be loosing due tothe dems & 0bama´s over-reaching BIG Governmental policies. Their current lefty/lib/statist detour from those tried & true basic Constitutional principles which secure equal RESPECT for each individual will not suceed. ...Socialism fails every time it is tried!
In the meantime, we each have THIS precious lifetime to live, so, ´bloom where you´re planted.´ Stay alert & keep the Light burning! Remember, nothing is impossible with God.
The last time a divided U.S. Congress passed a budget deal, President Ronald Reagan was denying he traded arms for Iranian hostages and the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion was fresh in Americans´ minds. But a House Republican and a Democratic senator hope they´ve found a compromise that federal legislators can live with. Washington state Democrat Patty Murray and Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan announced a proposal late on Tuesday that Ryan said focuses ´on where the common ground is´ between America´s two political parties, a deal that would balance the federal budget ten years from now and sidestep the threat of government
Junk Science: Researchers have discovered a chain of smoldering active volcanoes under the West Antarctic ice sheet — which happens to be the ice sheet that climate hysterics say is proof of man-caused global warming. The 2004 science fiction movie "The Day After Tomorrow" — and the operative word here is "fiction" — opened with a portion of the West Antarctic ice sheet shearing off as a prelude to planetary doom. But if the researchers depicted in the film had looked deep into the widening crevice, they might have noticed a string of active volcanoes lurking under nearly a mile of Antarctic
Nuclear Option: The first spoil of Harry Reid´s shredding of the Senate´s historic filibuster rules has been confirmed to the D.C. Circuit. Patricia Millett is another radical activist masquerading as judge. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1990, now-Vice President Joseph Biden threw a fit after it was clear David Souter was going to be confirmed to the Supreme Court, warning the first Bush administration that no more "stealth" nominees would be getting through. Liberals threw an even bigger fit the next year when Clarence Thomas told Biden´s committee he had no "personal opinion on the outcome in Roe v.
Income Gap: As President Obama laments America´s growing income inequality, a new government report shows the futility of his calls for ever-more wealth redistribution. To deflect attention from ObamaCare´s failures, the president this month trotted out his income inequality chestnut. "A dangerous and growing inequality," he intoned, "has jeopardized middle-class America´s basic bargain." He argued, "as a trickle-down ideology became more prominent, taxes were slashed for the wealthiest, while investments in things that make us all richer, like schools and infrastructure, were allowed to wither." Apparently, nobody bothered to brief the president before he delivered this speech. Fact is, federal transportation spending has
RUSH: Lakeside, California. Hi, Chris. Great to have you on the program. Hello. CALLER: Good morning. Mega dittos, Rush. RUSH: Thank you. Thanks very much. CALLER: Hey, I´m extremely concerned about what´s going on, and I just think people are still in major denial here about what´s going on. My husband and I recent -- RUSH: With what? CALLER: Well, with Obamacare and what really is the purpose of it. We went up to the Reagan library, which I´d never been up before, and I actually got rejuvenated by reading all his wonderful quotes and his positive and his love for his country and all
Greenpeace is warning children the world over Santa Claus might not be bringing gifts to them because of global warming. A “Save the Arctic” video released by the environmental group shows a sullen and dirty Santa – played by Jim Carter of “Downton Abbey” — in a dark, concrete room with water dripping from the ceiling. “Dear children, I regrettably bring bad tidings. For some time now, melting ice here in the North Pole has made our operations and our day-to-day life intolerable and impossible and there may be no alternative but to cancel Christmas,” Santa warned in the Greenpeace video. Santa claims
RUSH: If I may -- and I can because it´s who I am and it´s my program -- if I may be serious for just a brief moment. For those of you who are relatively young in the audience, you may find it hard to believe this, but there was a day not that long ago -- where I don´t care what party he came from -- no president would join this collection of people, for whatever occasion going on in South Africa. There was a day where the United States and its president would not deign to associate with
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
