| House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Friday that Congress should hand over to President Barack Obama the power to unilateral increase the limit on the U.S. government´s debt. In effect, under the plan Pelosi is endorsing, the only limit on the national debt would be President Obama´s willingness to borrow money in the name of American taxpayers. At a Friday press conference, a reporter asked Pelosi if she agreed with a proposal made by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that Congress give Obama the power to unilaterally increase the debt limit. "Yes," she said.

The reason Dem Senate has not offered a budget in nearly 4 years is the Republicans keep allowing the debt ceiling to increase, and then pass a continuing resolution which maintains spending at previous year´s level.
Gets the Dems off-the-hook on making decisions or choices.
Keps the pressure on the Republicans since they´re asking to do the right thing, but it´s not politically ideal, and the Dems know it.

This disgustingly ignorant woman should be immediately impeached for her flagrant contempt for the Constitution! Article I, Section 7 charges the House with the responsibility of originating bills "for raising revenue". The Executive, in this case the Lingering Malignancy Obama, has no role in the fisc except to approve or deny the legislation.

Perhaps the Constitution doesn´t establish which part of government has authority to raise the debt ceiling, because the Founding Fathers figured nobody was dumb enough to consider carrying an ever-growing debt to be a sane option.
These tax-and-spend fanatics are complete idiots. Listening to their advice about budgetary matters is a little like issuing a semi-automatic handgun to someone with paranoid schizophrenia.

GREENBELT, Md.- NASA released a dramatic and revealing image of an erupting Alaskan volcano Thursday taken by astronauts aboard the International Space Station. The photograph is of the Pavlof Volcano, located in the Aleutian Arc about 625 miles southwest of Anchorage, the space agency said. The oblique perspective of the photo taken from the ISS when it was about 475 miles south-southeast of the volcano reveals the three dimensional structure of the ash plume, often obscured by the top-down view of most remote sensing satellites, NASA said.

CHICAGO -- The Obama administration has chosen a private attorney and former federal prosecutor who helped send former Illinois Gov. George Ryan to prison for corruption to head the U.S. attorney´s office in Chicago, Illinois´ senators announced Thursday. Zachary Fardon, 46, would replace Patrick Fitzgerald, who stepped down last summer to enter private practice. Fitzgerald rose to national prominence during more than a decade in the office and successfully convicted two Illinois governors, including Ryan. GREENVILLE, California -- An earthquake in far northeastern California was felt by thousands of people as far away as San Francisco and in two other states, but there have been no reports of injury or serious damage. The magnitude-5.7 quake broke dishes and shook mirrors when it struck at 8:47 p.m. Thursday, officials said. It was centered near Greenville, about 25 miles southwest of Susanville in far northeastern California, said Rafael Abreu, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey´s National Earthquake Center in Golden, Colo. There have been several aftershocks, including a magnitude 4.9 that struck early Friday morning.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
