After Rotherham, Ukip is now a
national populist party – a magnet
for anger at the British establishment

Telegraph [UK], by Tim Stanley

I guess Rotherham’s social services are going to have their work cut out after last night’s key by-election result--it seems there are far more children with Ukip voting parents than previously expected… Ukip placed a confident second, taking their highest ever share of the vote in a by-election. You might say that this was just another case of a small, motivated band of voters letting off steam in an off-cycle contest--but it still represents a significant breakthrough. Ukip is only supposed to be a middle class, ex-Tory vote--the golf club fringe of conservatism. But Rotherham isn’t Tunbridge Wells;

Comments:
Very heartening and I hope it brings the necessary enthusiasm for voting Ukip instead of the tired old Conservatives and destructive Labourites.

Please read the whole thing--you´ll find lots of similarities between us and UK voters in Stanley´s article. Please, somebody with the funds, get Nigel Farage over here for some speeches!

There seems to be a groundswell forming around it similar to the Tea Party movement here. God bless us every one!

The problem is the UKIP will never win until the majority of Brits give up on the NHS

Wonderful to read some good political news, even though it´s not in America. These days you take it wherever you can get it.

No doubt Labour and the Tories have tacitly come to an agreement that UKIP is a grubby "populist" movement that must be defeated by the usual methods. To survive, UKIP develop other assets to rely on besides Farage´s eloquence and savvy. Right now, UKIP stands in exactly the same place that Labour stood in
in the 1890´s - early 1900´s, when it was a tiny radical party challenging the powerful and established Conservative and Liberal parties.

There has been a sixth night of rioting in Sweden´s capital, Stockholm, despite police reinforcements being deployed. Cars were set alight in poor suburbs inhabited largely by immigrants, although the unrest was reportedly not as serious as on previous nights. The rioting also spread outside the capital for the first time on Friday, with youths torching vehicles and buildings in two towns. [Snip] It is believed they were sparked by the death of an elderly man nearly a week before, who was shot by police after he allegedly threatened to kill them with a machete.

The leader of the Lebanese Shia militant Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, has promised his supporters victory in Syria, where his fighters are backing President Bashar al-Assad. Mr Nasrallah said Hezbollah would stay in the conflict till the end. Syrian rebels in the besieged town of Qusair say they are under heavy bombardment from Hezbollah combatants. The town is close to the Lebanese border, a conduit for both the government and rebels to get weapons. [Snip] He said his movement could never be aligned with Syrian rebels who, in his view, were supported by the United States and Israel.

One of the men suspected of murdering a soldier in Woolwich, south-east London, was detained by police two months ago, Sky News has been told. Local shopkeepers say Michael Adebowale was part of a group of Muslim activists who had been reported to police several times. They were told the authorities were aware of him. It comes as a preliminary report into what the intelligence services knew about Adebowale and his fellow suspect Michael Adebolajo is set to be handed over to an inquiry next week. Sir Malcolm Rifkind, chairman of the parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee, said he had

Hundreds of German football fans fought with each other today ahead of tonight´s Champions League final at Wembley. [Snip] More than 150,000 fans of both clubs have descended on the capital for club football´s biggest game, with many gathering in central London this afternoon. The YouTube footage appears to have been taken outside Wembley and shows fans initially goading each other after getting off coaches. Rival supporters then start throwing a number of different objects at each other. But as the supporters come together a number of fans start fighting, with many kicking and throwing punches. The Metropolitan Police has defended the way it responded to reports of the killing in Woolwich, south London, after questions were raised about how long it took officers to reach the scene. The force said police were there within nine minutes of the first emergency call and firearms officers were at the scene five minutes after that. Mayor Boris Johnson was heckled when he visited the area. BBC London´s Home Affairs Correspondent Guy Smith spoke with Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, former Metropolitan Police Commander John O´Connor and Roger Gray, a former firearms officer.

HANAHAN--The U.S. Naval Brig is once again being mentioned as a leading alternative to put terror detainees on trial after President Barack Obama this week rekindled his push to shut down the terror-suspect holding site at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. “I once again call on Congress to lift the restrictions on detainee transfers from Gitmo,” he said. “I have asked the Department of Defense to designate a site in the United States where we can hold military commissions.” Speculation immediately re-focused on the brig at Charleston as a leading choice where some of the 166 detainees could go on trial.

Proudly marching through the streets of York with cheers ringing in their ears, the men and women of 2nd Signal Regiment--recently returned from Afghanistan--were greeted by thousands of people lining the streets to welcome them home. In the hours after the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby by alleged Islamist terrorists in Woolwich, south-east London, on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defence had advised servicemen and women not to go out in uniform--an order that was promptly ignored by soldiers who refused to be cowed and almost immediately rescinded. 300 members of the Armed Forces were cheered by well-wishers who waved

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
