Ex-CIA chief David Petraeus took the blame for the extramarital affair that torpedoed his career, but his forgiving wife, Holly, is sticking by him, according to a newly revealed private letter. “I screwed up royally,” Petraeus told his longtime Army pal, retired Brig. Gen. James Shelton in the hand-written missive. “I paid the price (appropriately) and I sought to do the right thing at the end of the day,” he wrote in the Nov. 20 message. Petraeus stepped down on Nov. 9 as news of his affair with biographer Paula Broadwell went public.
Asking Shelton to be his mouthpiece is not the sign of a brave man. Just another whiner who had it all and thought he was above reproach. Wonder what blackmail he has on Shelton for Shelton to parrot the kind words and the ATW?
...and Petraeus is being disingenuous with his "paid the price (appropriately). He´s playing this as his resignation being the big punishment. What would he have done to a subordinate who jeapordized national security by whoring around on his wife and lettinging his squeeze see classified documents she wasn´t cleared for. How about finding them on her unclassified personal computer?
Petraeus makes Private Bradley Manning look like Soldier of the Year. They have Manning in a cell sleeping on a metal cot without clothes. Stepping down from the Director of the CIA position is "punishment" for what he has done ot national security?
Petraeus will be considered "paid in full" when he comes forward and speaks the truth, the WHOLE truth to the American people. We have the right to know exactly how incompetent the administration was in the Benghazi incident. He OWES that much to America.
I am sorry, I just cannot find it in my heart to condemn this good man. I hope he moves on and finds some other way to serve our great country. I suspect his wife will forgive him and that he will spend the rest of his life making their marriage a priority. Forgiveness is really much harder than than judgement and punishment.
Some us live in reality and don´t predict fairy tale endings. His dowdy, unattractive, fat little wife has no choice but to forgive him. The poor gal suffered and sacrificed through is military career, and finds herself in her golden years with a national traitor and cheater for a spouse.
What´s she going to do? If she walks, she gets nothing. Forgiving is expedient.
He can make his marriage ´a priority´ all he wants now, but every time he goes alone to the grocery store, she´ll have thoughts of him shagging the checkout girl while she sits at home waiting. The marriage as they know it is over. In addition, he sold out the country and its secrets as well as his marriage vows for his fling with Ms Fitness.
Most guys just throw away family money on their back door women. He threw away his country and his entire career as well as his honor.
Don´t waste your time crying for Petraeus, as because of the double standard that is in place throughout the USA, after he spends a time in political purgatory, Petraeus will again land on his feet in a new job that most Americans of high moral character can only wish for!
After the 2012 presidential election failed to go their way, Republicans were reminded ad nauseam that Barack Obama had built a winning collection of supporters and that the GOP had not. The Democratic coalition, insisted partisans both inside and outside the media, spelled potential death for the GOP and for the conservative ideology that generally underpins it. The Republican party was just too old, too white, and too male — three terrible things to be, naturally — and it was destined to be buried by demographics. As the year came to a close, and everyone tried his hand at a
It seems the Super Bowl has fallen victim to political correctness. They’ve decided to ban a pro-Second Amendment – and pro-veteran – Super Bowl ad by Daniel Defense, a company that sells guns, detailing a father who declares that he will protect his family. “No one has the right to tell me how to defend them," he says. The banning promoted this epic response from Colion Noir, a football fan, attorney - and NRA News commentator - who destroys the NFL for their hypocrisy. He adds, “This type of selective censorship is really bordering on the line of social lunacy where
Enrollment surge or no enrollment surge, the next Obamacare challenge is a big one: How will the White House make sure all those people with canceled policies get new coverage by Jan. 1? At the rate the signups are going — even with the speedier, newly functioning Obamacare website — the administration has a vast distance to travel before the estimated 4 to 5 million people with canceled policies get new health coverage.
Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has named William J. Bratton his Police Commissioner. In returning to the job he held under Rudolph Giuliani in the nineteen-nineties, Bratton will be in charge of fulfilling one of de Blasio’s most prominent campaign promises: to end the stop-and-frisk tactics that were such a prominent part of Michael Bloomberg’s record as Mayor. But Bratton’s views on stop-and-frisk may be considerably different from those of his new boss. In May of this year, I profiled Shira Scheindlin, the federal judge who presided over the class-action lawsuit that challenged the N.Y.P.D.’s stop-and-frisk policies. In the course of reporting
In my mid-20s, I had a new bride, a plum job on Capitol Hill and, apparently, the beginnings of a cancerous tumor on my right kidney. For 20 or 25 years — the best estimate of my doctors — it accompanied me at birthdays and on holidays and at the delivery of my children. It was quiet and kept to itself. Undiscovered, it would have donned camouflage and killed me in the end. A cancer diagnosis is the experience of about 13?million Americans. Mine came early enough for surgery to make a difference. There were weeks of testing, waiting and
Rush Limbaugh´s radio tirades will have a new home on Los Angeles airwaves next year. KFI-AM (640) is losing the conservative host´s three-hour show, long a fixture on the station, to KTLK-AM (1150), which owner Clear Channel is hoping to pump up as an outlet exclusively dedicated to right-leaning chatter. The company, which also owns KFI, will use Limbaugh´s audience to anchor the new lineup for KTLK, which is being dubbed "The Patriot" and will also feature national shows by Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.
The current daytime star—and future face of Yahoo News—is taking flak for running an alarmist segment about an HPV vaccine on her talk show. Why Katie’s under fire. Can you trust Katie Couric? For a woman who has hosted news programs on three major television networks, received multiple awards for her reporting, and earned the title “America’s Sweetheart” back in her Today show glory, merely raising the question could be hugely damaging to her career—even more so now as she prepares to take on a high-profile role as the new global anchor of Yahoo News.
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
