With a dire fiscal crisis bearing down on the nation and the need for closed-door negotiations and face-saving compromises for squeezed members of Congress never more apparent, President Barack Obama has embarked on yet another political campaign. This time, he is agitating for public support for increased tax rates on the nation’s high-income earners as part of a comprehensive resolution to the fiscal cliff. But higher tax rates is the only policy prescription the president campaigned on in 2012 – if he has any mandate whatsoever from his victory, it is for higher taxes.
Comments: The morons who voted for him have no idea what he´s doing. 0bama sure doesn´t care, that´s very obvious. To him being president consists of one big party and always campaigning. Leadership is completely foreign to that incompetent Marxist.
Unfortunately, we are dealing with an electorate that has been conditioned by 60 years of television and movies to value style over substance. So long as Obama "looks" presidential, and swans around "acting" presidential, they will still look upon him with adolescent ecstasy. Obama doesn´t have to DO anything, except act in his own cheesy ripoff of "The West Wing."
Even if we were invaded tomorrow by debt collectors in the form of the modern successors to the old Chinese Ninth Route Army, the nation would shed a sentimental tear as they saw Obama with his hands up in surrender, and they would call him a "Great President." Oh, and the nation would blame the whole debacle on the REPUBLICANS.
Interesting to me the comments about "ignoring" Obama. I found that that is what I have to do to get on with things. i click off any image, ignore any quote of his and refuse to listen to any so call ´fair and balanced´ arguments between the two parties concerning his latest moves.. The last two French magazines I received in the mail had Obama on the cover, and articles within. I immediately threw them in the trash. He does not exist for me.
We simply are ignorant about the president´s motives. Krauthammer and Thune think the president will be concerned about his legacy and will therefore give in on tax policy. I don´t think he is concerned about anything except the downfall of capitalism and going over the cliff will allow him to make more excutive rules to combat those evil Republicans that caused it.?? He is on TV now urging the citizens to call their congress-people. The people will back his executive orders when the next severe recession occurs. This is how Hitler got elected in Germany.
Sadly , #11 is right . The Americans who fought for our liberty are gone and cannot be replaced with the current lot of computer gamers and fast food junkies . D***weed simply has to ´ act ´ and his plan moves along effortlessly . It´s stunning to wake up , open Drudge , and find yourself in another Groundhog day .
I dont watch jug ears. if he comes on I change the channel how he got voted back in is a mystery to me. but my faith is in God and he has his plan and it will be played out so just keep looking up and listening because something is amiss and keep your eye´s on that little piece of land in the middle east that is the key to everything.
This latest phase of zippy´s campaign is nothing more than a set-up to blame all of the failures of the next four years on the Republicans fighting with him over the "fiscal cliff". I´m with Ann Coulter - we should let him have his tax increase and let him own the coming disaster.
Oh, I so agree with #9. He doesn´t want the real job, he just likes all the perks and prestige and wants to fly around acting all important and give speeches. He leaves the rest to Valerie. It´s so sad to read the comments because we´re all so disheartened, but I feel the same - it´s not the America I´ve always known and loved to my core. The Dems are destroying it day by day. I can´t watch Obie either, and especially the useful idiots clapping like trained seals who go to his speeches. Sickening.
The morons who voted him in, who have been recently referred to by the Russians as being the illiterate population group in the USA, would use the excuse that because of the racism that Obama faces in the USA, that he is doing "the best that he can" and that is good enough for them.
As that voter group continues to grow by way of runaway mass uncontrolled illegal immigration, and a lot of other factors, we can probably say that we have not seen anything yet in that respect!
The DC Rs really are idiots. Obama talks about taxing the super wealthy, and the Rs talk about spending cuts. Who will win that PR war? The Rs had better quickly frame the debate in such a manner that their position, the right one, is seen to benefit the middle class. Is there no one there bright enough to figure this out?
The R´s in DC are just concerned about the money stream to win the next election. The Tea Party is just as dumb as they threaten the congressmen. People seldom vote on logic. Yes, Obama needs to be out smarted, but won´t be by the Congress or the Tea party or the hard liners on the right. They may be right but they will be "dead´ right. Romney and Ryan lost, folks! Learn something! Think ahead!
Obama is basking in the glow of his ever approving propaganda press. Valerie is running the WH -- albeit more obviously now than before. For some bizarre reason Hillary Clinton remains SOS when common decency and professional incompetence demanded her resignation on 9/11/2012. Every single person, legal or illegal, Dem or Independent, who voted once or more for this is responsible.
Obama has something just like Slick Clinton has; they both have a need to be adored. So long as Obama campaigns in the right places he gets his needs met. That´s what the uneducated ill-informed masses voted for. They can´t see beyond their front doors. They can´t see what will happen to the United States and how it will eventually impact them. They want their phones and they want them now.
Meanwhile the ´´slaves´´, those who create this nirvana for the masses, keep on working longer hours, pay more for their necessities and angrily watch the masses spend food stamps and welfare checks on luxuries that the workers can no longer afford. Same goes for those of us who are retired trying to make ends meet. Obama knows he will never be in this situation and has no sympathy, certainly no empathy, for us. He just wants to make sure that ´´his kind´´ gets what he believes is their right, and it delights him to take it from us.
The stupid americans got their lord and savior in office, lord messiah o´bama. The state controlled media will spoon feed the stupid american public more propaganda and be told that l.m.o.is doing a masterful job in office and what ever goes wrong is the republicans fault!! FREE PHONES!! No animals were harmed in the making of these comments!! CHUCK U.FARLEY!
President Obama has recalled John Podesta to work at the White House as a “counselor.” Podesta is the Clinton hand who founded the far-left Center for American Progress (home of the clownish Think Progress blog). Podesta’s appointment, which needs no congressional approval, comes at a time when Obama is already making moves to do without Congress. He has used executive actions to re-write Obamacare, and to recalibrate immigration law, both in ways that just happen to favor either himself or the Democrats. The New York Times reports that Podesta will work on executive actions when he returns to the White
On CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday, new host Brian Stelter turned to President Obama the press critic. At the end of his cakewalk “Hardball” interview last week, Obama called out the media for being divisive. “The American people are good and they are decent. And yes, we get very divided partly because our politics and our media specifically tries to divide them and splinter them.” Stelter asked a decent question about whether that was an odd statement to make on divisive MSNBC. NPR television critic Eric Deggans shot that down, insisting MSNBC was a “great place” to attack cable news
Former CIA Director Leon Panetta revealed classified information at a 2011 awards ceremony attended by Zero Dark Thirty filmmaker Mark Boal, according to documents obtained by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch. The CIA allowed Boal, the screenwriter of Zero Dark Thirty, to attend a June 24, 2011 award ceremony celebrating the successful raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan that May. A transcript of Panetta’s speech that night obtained by Judicial Watch is labeled “top secret,” and significant portions of it are redacted. At the conclusion his speech, Panetta told the audience, “You have made me proud
UPDATE: Rep. Paul Ryan and Sen. Patty Murray unveiled a budget proposal Tuesday night. The proposal, which has yet to be voted on, busts through sequester caps, setting FY 2014 spending at $1.014 trillion — billions beyond the levels mandated by sequester. The proposal contains no mention of pension reform. Conservatives had better start paying attention to the budget battle raging in Washington: If things go south — and they are poised to do just that — the tea party’s single greatest policy victory, the sequester, could be destroyed. And worse yet, it could be destroyed in exchange for nothing. The sequester
Approval of ObamaCare in the United States has risen eight percentage points in the last month, according to a new poll. Thirty-nine percent of people now approve of the law, according to a CBS News/New York Times poll released Tuesday evening. Half of the public, by contrast, disapproves of ObamaCare, the poll found. Nearly 60 percent say they don’t think the sign-up process for ObamaCare is going well, but more than one-third say it’s improving. These figures come in just ten days after the administration touted the repaired federal portal for the insurance, HealthCare.gov. Obama’s general job approval rating has increased to 42 percent,
Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), in an appearance on MSNBC´s "PoliticsNation" on Friday, condemned former Sen. Rick Santorum´s comments comparing Nelson Mandela´s fight against apartheid to the fight against Obamacare as "shameful." "And actually if I was going to make a comparison, I would make the opposite comparison, because I think the struggle for justice, which Nelson Mandela led for so many years is similar as the struggle for the health care as a right for people in the richest country in the world, and so the idea that they would make that comparison in the opposite way is just tragic,"
According to a new Rasmussen Report, the majority of Americans do not believe the deportation of illegal immigrants living in the United States is aggressive enough. More than 20 House Democrats last week urged President Obama to halt the deportation of illegal immigrants until Congress passes a comprehensive immigration reform plan, but voters by a two-to-one margin oppose that idea. Most already think the federal government is not vigilant enough in deporting those who are in this country illegally. Only 29% of Likely U.S. Voters think the government should stop deporting illegal immigrants until Congress passes an immigration reform plan.
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
