Crazy Ghost Prank in Brazil
Terrifies Elevator Riders

Brazilian variety show Programa Silvio Santos aired a ´pegadinha´ – prank in Portuguese – on Sunday that´s gone viral all over the world, despite the language difference. But then you don´t need to understand Portuguese to follow what´s happening in this ultra-freaky video. In it, a person walks into an elevator. Suddenly, the elevator stops, the lights go off and, unbeknownst to the passenger, a ghostly girl crawls in via a side panel. When the lights come back on, she usually screams, sometimes the passenger screams, and let´s just say a few emotional scars are created in the process.

Why on earth is a disheveled, pale, 45 pound little girl anything to be afraid of? I don´t know, but it scared me too! Very creepy and when she screamed I was caught off guard again!

Brazil doesn´t have our tort laws. It´s pretty much a free for all over there and stuff like this goes on all the time.

Sick heart beats, heart stops, full cardiac arrest at seeing a ghost, drop dead. Tort laws or not, this is a tragedy and lawsuit waiting to happen. At least during Halloween we can expect this silly stuff in the US.

I´ve watched it a few times now. And it´s really funny ... being on this side of the camera. Had I been in the elevator I would have been shaking more than the man covering his face.

It was really well done.

#1 is absolutely right. It´s faked. Two obvious clues.

When the first woman gets on, there are at least two shots which could not be hidden cameras as they are handheld shots and they move.

Later on, the shorter brunette woman screams right before the lights come back on, because she was expecting to scream.

Fake as fake can be.

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a disabled man had his throat slit in a ‘brutal attack’ in his Thamesmead home. The victim, who has been named as 56-year-old Colin Greenway, was pronounced dead in his ground floor flat in Abbotts Close at around 2pm yesterday (June 15). Some neighbours reportedly saw two men going over the gate at the side of his property into the back garden about an hour before Mr Greenway´s body was discovered by the emergency services. Forensics officers are at the scene of the murder this afternoon and have removed one of the doors

Yegor Borisov, head of the Sakha Republic, a vast and sparsely populated region of eastern Siberia, has called for an urgent cull of wolves after the predators swamped populated areas in a search for food. The local government has announced a three month "battle against wolves" to be launched on January 15. Special task forces will be put together and the hunting season extended all year round in a bid to tackle what the local authorities have described as a "mass migration" of the creatures. The governor has even promised a six-figure cash prize for the hunters who bring back the most skins.

After days of demonstrations, described as "legitimate" by Dilma Rousseff, Brazil´s president, activists filled the streets in more than a dozen cities, including those hosting matches at next year´s football tournament, which is estimated to cost £10 billion. In scenes rarely seen in Brazil since the fall of the dictatorship in 1985, crowds took to the streets, carrying placards reading: "World Cup for Who?" and "We don´t need the World Cup". President Rousseff responded with sympathy for the protesters. "Today, Brazil woke up stronger," she said. "The greatness of yesterday´s demonstrations proved the power of democracy.

As many as 200,000 demonstrators marched through the streets of Brazil´s biggest cities on Monday in a swelling wave of protest tapping into widespread anger at poor public services, police violence and government corruption. The marches, organized mostly through snowballing social media campaigns, blocked streets and halted traffic in more than a half-dozen cities, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, where demonstrators climbed onto the roof of Brazil´s Congress building and then stormed it. Monday´s demonstrations were the latest in a flurry of protests in the past two weeks that have added

Stars. They’re not like you! Ryan Lizza’s New Yorker piece on the Gang of 8´s immigration efforts [behind paywall] contains a seemingly inflammatory quote from an unnamed aide to Marco Rubio: “‘There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it,’ a Rubio aide told me. ‘There shouldn’t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can’t get it, can’t do it, don’t want to do it. And so you can’t obviously discuss that publicly.’” It’s a bad enough quote that Gang-of-8 cheerleader Jonathan Chait was worried.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio´s (R-Fla.) office sparked a bit of a firestorm on Sunday when a quote attributed to one of his aides claimed that immigration reform is necessary because some American workers "just can´t cut it." The aide made the comment to The New Yorker´s Ryan Lizza in an article published early Monday morning, explaining why Rubio sided with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on the issue of a guest-worker program for the construction industry. “There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it,” the Rubio aide told Lizza.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest. After appearing less than thrilled on Monday while viewing Medieval manuscripts
