| Larry Summers, chair of the White House National Economic Council when the 2009 stimulus was developed, suggested that President Obama will eventually tax and regulate junk food to drive people to eat more healthily — although he dinged First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy foods initiative. “I think there is no question that the way Americans eat and what Americans weigh is a big contributor to health problems and it’s a big contributor to health costs,” Summers said on Morning Joe today. It’s not the agenda now, but I think at some point

When we predicted this a few years ago the leftist called it crazy talk.
Incrementalism means never having to say you´re sorry.
Every day the social contract gets re-negotiated just a little.
The controllers work at it relentlessly.
The conservatives just want to be left alone.
Must we raise a freaking army just to be left alone ?

Which ´community´ eats the most junk food.
African American, by far eat the most McDonald´s and KFC.
But they would vote for the destroyer for life.

By definition, every restaurant in America is junk food. Show me a restaurant that markets itself as being "healthy," and I´ll show you a restaurant that is going out of business.
Will the tax include the high-priced restaurants that sell artery-cloggin monster steaks with creamed spinach? Or it will only be McDonalds.

I´m not saying that they can´t be convinced, but I´m wondering how the looting class, the 47 percenters, the takers will buy into the idea that fast food will be a controlled substance.

Of course liberals are never happy unless they can control everything. Real meat will be illegal except for the elite, only fake meat will be permitted for the masses. Any food not unionized will also be illegal. family farms will be driven out of business. No hunting of any kind including fishing. I´m sure all this will happen in my life time.

...of course the EBT cardholder, the poor, those with only two cellphones and a wide-screen HDTV, whatever you want to call them, will be exempted. It is ´the rich´ who will bear the tax. You know, the 53 percent. It won´t affect that fat slob Larry Summers and the others who are worth 200 mil. They´ll still be eating Kobe beef and whatever else they want. Obama-care will reach our foods, our cars, our homes ("New Study Shows Single Family Homeowner Have More Health Problems), and our leisure activities. Welcome to the revolution.

The sickening self-righteous Left once again.
There is NOTHING wrong with cookies, candy, chips, eaten in moderation. The problem with obesity is lack of exercise and a reliance on fast food for meals.
So what is the Left´s solution? Make these treats more expensive for people who are tight on money--and who isn´t--and get another cash grab for Big Brother.
Cigarettes are a lousy comparison. People can get sick just being around someone else smoking, and it makes for a lousy atmosphere to be near.
Tell you what, if it is all about risk and saving costs in medicine, let´s also tax sex, skiing, driving a car, jogging, flying an airplane, skydiving, surfing, hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking and rafting, and all sports.
All of these activities result in medical costs and deaths. If the idea is to be a truly nanny state by taxing personal behavior, well then, let´s be fair about it.

Not going to happen? Look at the lunch food at schools kids are throwing in the garbage. In 2010 Washington State imposed a ´´candy tax´´ which included soft drinks. It was repealed before the year was out. The Voters objected. Will voters have any say in a national tax or has the say already been said by voting Obama in?

Local MP Nick Raynsford said he had been told the man attacked in the street was a soldier serving at the Royal Artillery Barracks near the attack. Mr Raynsford said the soldier had been returning to the barracks after a day out when he was attacked. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Several days ago some fringe “conservatives” mentioned the idea of impeaching President Obama. For reasons as obvious as they are numerous, that is a terrible idea. Saying that is like throwing chum out to the worst conservatives, the ones who act like liberals, the ones who are all angry instinct, who rather than strategize their way to victory would rather sweep the pieces off the table and throw a tantrum on the floor. Serious and effective conservatism demands putting facts and reason above emotion and hysteria. Some comments concerning potential impeachment are so

Sen. Harry Reid said Wednesday that he will push to confirm more judges to the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., after that court ruled earlier this year that President Obama’s broad use of recess appointment powers was unconstitutional. “You have a majority in that court that is wrecking havoc in the country. For the first time in 230 years, they ruled the president can’t make a recess appointment, so yes there is a crisis,” Mr. Reid, the chamber’s leader, said on the Senate floor as he begged for quick action on more of the president’s judicial nominees.

Mayor Bloomberg went on a spitting-mad rant against a city cab-fleet boss who won a court victory over Hizzoner’s planned “Taxi of Tomorrow” — vowing to “destroy your f--king industry” when he leaves office, The Post has learned. A fuming Bloomberg made the threat against Taxi Club Management CEO Gene Freidman at Madison Square Garden’s private 1879 Club during last Thursday’s Knick playoff game, a witness said yesterday. “It was like Gene had kidnapped his child. He used the f-word twice,” the witness said. Freidman confirmed the blow-up to The Post, and said Bloomberg’s tirade included the warning that,

According to Republican Rep. Jim Jordan and White House visitor logs, former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman visited the White House 118 times in 2010 and 2011. This is the same time period when Tea Party groups were inappropriately targeted and intimidated by the IRS. Testifying in front of lawmakers on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Shulman admitted that many of the meetings with the White House were to discuss how to implement ObamaCare. "The IRS has a major roll in the money flow," Shulman said. Shulman denied ever discussing 501c(4) groups with White House officials

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
