| Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar has died after a battle with pneumonia, according to his Facebook page. “Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home,” read a statement on the page. “The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well lived.” Ziglar´s executive assistant Laurie Magers says Ziglar died Wednesday at a hospital in the Dallas suburb of Plano. Ziglar’s speaking career had lasted more than 50 years, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, before he retired in 2010. He was known for corporate training and motivational speeches

Oh, my - what a wonderful, wonderful man. The world is a darker place without him in it. Godspeed, ZZ...say hi to Daddy for me. :sniff:
PS - Possibly THE best book I ever read of his was "Confessions of a Grieving Christian" written after the death of his adult daughter several years ago. It is a MUST READ for anyone who has ever lost a child.

A good man has left this "vale of tears" and is now rejoicing in the presence of His Lord/Savior/King Jesus!
Zig lived his life to the full and enjoyed every moment of it because he knew who he was and Who he belonged to.
I am sure that Zig has heard God´s declaration of "Welcome, good and faithful servant!"
May we all follow his example and declare our faith/trust in Jesus alone, not the world and its sinfulness or our individual importance, but God´s will/way that we are allowed to follow and to one day receive His Kingdom without end.
Blessings to the family of Zig Ziglar. They had him for a specified time and one day they will join him in Paradise, God´s Heaven, our everlasting Home! Amen

AMen #8. What an example of how followers of the Lord Jesus Christ should conduct themselves in this world. You never caught Zig Ziglar on prime time shows "moderating" his words about His Savior and Who was responsible for all of his success. BTW, it was one of the reasons he was rarely invited on these programs - even FOX. His web page says it best.
How wonderful to think of him today surrounded by the Glory of God in his Heavenly home. I look forward to meeting him one day.

WASHINGTON -- Michelle Obama said Wednesday that stories of toil and sweat by slaves once held at a historic home within sight of the White House are an important part of U.S. history, including her own personal story, and are "as vital to our national memory as any other." The first lady commented as American Express announced its donation of $1 million to the White House Historical Association to preserve Decatur House and pay for education programs for children. The nearly 200-year-old house is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and operated by the association.

Here’s an indication of how burdensome student loans have become : About one-third of millennials say they would have been better off working, instead of going to college and paying tuition. (Snip) Delinquencies are also on the rise. The number of borrowers who are at least 90 days late on student loan payments has jumped from 8.5% in 2011 to 11.7% today, according to a study by the New York Federal Reserve. The problem sometimes is that not all college educations are worth their cost since they can’t guarantee a high-paying job to help pay off that student debt.

WASHINGTON - iPad maker saving billions of dollars in U.S. taxes through Irish subsidiaries and told lawmakers that his company backs corporate tax reform, even though it may end up paying more. The Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has found that Apple in 2012 alone avoided paying $9 billion in U.S. taxes, using a strategy involving three offshore units with no discernible tax home, or "residence." Cook, in his first congressional testimony since becoming Apple CEO in 2011, said his company is a major taxpayer, handing over nearly $6 billion in cash to the U.S. government in 2012.

Americans in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll sharply reject special scrutiny of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service, suspect an administration cover-up of the Benghazi incident and express substantial distrust of the federal government more generally. (Snip) Longer-term impacts of contentious current issues remain to be seen, but there´s potential for significant damage to the administration. Americans by a vast 74-20 percent see the IRS´ behavior as inappropriate, with most feeling that way strongly - and 56 percent see it as a deliberate attempt to harass conservative organizations, not a mere administrative error.

A massive tornado ripped through Moore, Okla., Monday afternoon, leveling a huge swath of a residential area in the suburb of Oklahoma City. Video footage from KFOR-TV showed houses, businesses and at least two schools completely demolished, with cars strewn about. Police and emergency crews have begun to respond, but debris has clogged roadways. There is no tally yet on injuries or deaths, but news anchors said significant casualties are expected. LOS ANGELES - More poor people live in the nation´s suburbs than in urban cities because of affordable housing, service-sector jobs and the increased use of housing vouchers, according to a study released Monday. The number of those in poverty living in suburbs jumped 67 percent between 2000 and 2011, a much larger increase than in cities, researchers for the Brookings Institution said. Suburbs, however, still have a smaller percentage of the poor than cities do. The report notes that poor people were pulled to the suburbs by more affordable homes and followed jobs that were often low paying.

Minnesota drivers are paying the highest gas prices in the 48 contiguous states, with the average price statewide running at $4.27 per gallon, according to AAA’s daily survey of gas prices. Average prices are even higher in the Twin Cities metro area at $4.31 for a gallon of unleaded gas, the report said. Drivers in Hawaii were paying the highest, at $4.35 per gallon, while those in Tennessee were paying the lowest, at $3.26. The national average is $3.63. In Duluth, the average price Monday morning was $4.32, while in Rochester it was $4.12. St. Cloud stations were reporting $4.24

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble.
