| Obama won, Obamacare is the law, and, as my wife says, I will just have to learn to dance to a new song. Now, don’t get me wrong, Obamacare is awful. Forget all the “free stuff” it provides. Children covered on their parents’ plan until 26 years of age? A scam, making young adults — excuse me, children — pay for complete, comprehensive health insurance when all they need and should pay for is major catastrophe insurance. Then there is the “annual ” or “preventative” exam, which according to Obamacare is “free.” (Snip)it covers absolutely nothing more than the bare minimum
|
Comments: Read on for how restricted the doctor is when you have the "free" annual physical exam. Most of the article deals with what a doctor may and may not do, regardless of what the patient needs. This article will infuriate you.

When it´s "free," you get what you pay for.
I´d just schedule my usual annual follow-up and pay my co-pay. I have Medicare and regular retirement benefit medical.

Like the bank loan that you only qualify for if you already have lots of money, the free physical is only free if you didn´t need a physical in the first place.

There is a longstanding principle in human affairs--nobody can long govern in peace without the consent of the governed. When more than 65% of the people oppose Obamacare, it cannot long stand. Either it will be repealed, or people will find a way around it. It is doomed to failure.

How soon before we hear about ´back-alley doctors´ being arrested for ´illegally´ treating patients?

I can report my experience from yesterday. Having just turned 70 I was in for a well- patient annual. The doctor does not see the patient, the nurse handles it. Not a hand was on me except to take my blood pressure and administer the flue shot, which ´should´ be paid for. No listening to the heart or lung functions, didn´t even take my pulse. I did do a weigh-in and completed a questionaire to screen for depression.
I am eligible for the PSA, but that´s the only covered blood work. If the PSA warrants, I may be called in for the doctor´s digital prostate exam. The nurse said I was too healthy to be eligible for anything else, unless the doctor could come up with a code.
After a lifetime of proactive attention to my health, now that I´m much more likely to have age related issues, the plug has been pulled so to speak. Thanks, gov´t, where do I send the donation.

FTA - " If you are complaining of a new problem, then you have to reschedule, since Obamacare is very clear as to what is covered and what is not. Obamacare — intentionally — makes it as difficult to be seen and taken care of as possible."
During the yearly " free " visit , the doctor cannot discuss any new problems with the patient. Because that is against the law. Should the pt complain of say symptoms of gall bladder disease , normally the physician would begin the work up. Now, he cannot. The patient will have to get on the back of the line to schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist. Which will take time. Then they will have to get on the back of the line waiting for an appointment to have an ultrasound. With all these delays in diagnosing and treating, a certain percentage of patients will die. Which saves Obama money , so he can spread it around elsewhere.

There´s more to this exam and the intrusive questioning Dr. Weiss describes (sometimes a questionnaire) than meets the eye. Here, from my archive, is an article worth reading:

A former Philadelphia police officer, once hailed as a hero and given a seat next to the first lady at a 2009 speech by President Obama, has been arrested and charged with rape and other crimes. Authorities allege that Richard DeCoatsworth left a party with two females early Thursday and took them to another location, where they allege that he produced a handgun and “forced the two females to engage in the use of narcotics and sexual acts.”(Snip)DeCoatsworth was hailed as a hero after he was shot in the face during a traffic stop in September 2007 but still

Treasury officials were made aware in June 2012 that the IRS inspector general was reviewing the office that handles tax-exempt applications, but a letter from October shows that the inspector general did not highlight the audit as a top concern for the agency. In a memo dated October 15, 2012, to then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner about IRS challenges for 2013, Inspector General J. Russell George noted other problem areas, but made no mention of the investigation taking place at the time of the agency´s intense scrutiny of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

It eventually comes down to who — who at the IRS was responsible for targeting conservative and Tea Party groups for special scrutiny. Because, after all, you can’t put a “system” in jail. You can’t put a report in prison. You can’t indict a department for corruption. At the end of the day it’s people who are responsible for using the enormous powers of the Internal Revenue Service to go after other people and groups because of their political beliefs. U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) told the tale of one of his constituents who applied for tax-exempt status for her Tea Party group in July 2010.

She´s something of a foodie but has been able to eat only microwaveable foods, she adds. In House testimony Friday, former Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller explained that the IRS mistakes in handling applications for non-profit status from tea party groups were due, in large part, to a flood of applications following the Citizens United decision. Miller said the targeting was a botched attempt to centralize the process to account for the increased workload. There were fewer applications in 2010, when the IRS began targeting conservative groups, than the year before, however. (Snip)Moreover, the IRS reportedly abandoned the targeting in early 2012. It presumably had little trouble handling the increased number of applicants

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) wants to know “who’s going to jail” over the IRS scandal. But ousted acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller says no laws were violated when the agency targeted conservative groups. So who’s right? Did the IRS’s conduct take a step beyond mere “wrongdoing” and venture into criminal territory? (Snip)Essentially, there are three types of laws that might conceivably have been broken, as Attorney General Eric Holder acknowledged in his testimony before a House committee Wednesday:

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
