According to the leaders of the global warming doomsday cult, the average surface temperature of Earth is 14 degrees Celsius (57.2 degrees Fahrenheit), but this is a new value which has quietly replaced the original average of 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit). In March 1988, a few months before NASA´s James Hansen asserted before the Congress that global warming was in progress, the New York Times quoted him as saying that he used 59 degrees Fahrenheit as the average global temperature to calculate the temperature variations.

If you are caught faking ("correcting" he calls it) the numbers too much for the observed data, like Hansen has been, and too many honest researchers are publicly finding no upward trend in temperatures - you need to be innovative to keep the scam going.

Lower the baseline temp and you instantly "gain" a whole degree Celcius in the "measured global warming".

Global warming doomsday cult indeed.

If they left the baseline at 15 they can´t show a warming trend. This just more evidence of their fraudulent claims of global warming.

Be careful what you say or they will lower the average temp 1950-1980 to 13K. Then we will really be in trouble...

Why is Hansen still walking around free? This clown has no business being at NASA, but with all the trouble he´s caused, he should be in jail for fraud.

BREAKING NEWS - - -

James Hansen has changed the baseline world temperature to absolute zero - - so that any positive temperatures recorded anywhere represent an infinite increase from the baseline.

Temperature increases of infinity each year mean that budgets for glo-bull warming grants will also have to increase infinitely each year.

It´s the "settled science" thing to do.

Time to write a sequal to 1984.

When is a scientist not a scientist???

Any time money is involved. Science goes out the window any time it´s ´convenient´ to make claims in order to achieve status and a big payoff.

This kind of reminds me of how we keep lowering the "poverty level" so we can get more money into the welfare state.

Global Warmist´s, you are hereby charged with manipulation, fraud and a host of crimes against humanity and the earth. Your trial was held in absentia and you have all been found guilty as charged.

Your sentence is to be hanged by the neck until you are dead. Report to the nearest hangman at a convenient prison. If you do not report you will be found and dealt with.

Tell the person with one foot in boiling water and the other in ice water what the average temperature is. The very concept of "average global surface temperature" is ludicrous.

#1 - It may not be the number 1 concern but it is a concern. Manipulated data will form the rationale for carbon taxes and the ultimate economic assault upon the US planned by the international community. We must expose the manipulation at every turn.

If these people were not so dangerous to our future they would be absolutely ridiculous. No one could possibly take them seriously. But, they have their useful idiot in the White House for the foreseeable future and he loves anything that weakens America.

As the labor movement tells the story, two months ago, the silly, ungrateful Volkswagen factory workers in Tennessee foolishly rejected the generous invitation of the company and the United Auto Workers to welcome the Detroit-killing union with open arms. In an election supervised by the federal National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the workers in VW´s Chattanooga plant rejected UAW representation by a vote of 712 to 626. Amazingly, the UAW and the automaker both refuse to take the workers´ "no" for an answer. The two sides are acting in unison to overturn the democratically expressed will of the workers. For more than 160 years, Henry David Thoreau´s essay on Civil Disobedience has inspired Americans to "make known what kind of government would command his respect" so that we could live under that government in good conscience. Ultimately, in a free society, that´s all we have that is truly our own; our conscience. Following its dictates, says Thoreau, is the only rational way to live your life and be true to oneself. It had been years since I read Civil Disobedience and I was surpised by how Cliven Bundy´s words echoed many of the theses in the essay. Legal experts overwhelmingly agree

A Soros-funded nonprofit New Yorker magazine called “one of the most important radical environmental groups in the country” has issued a statement denouncing the Bureau of Land Management‘s (BLM) decision to back away from a showdown with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and hundreds of supporters. A scientist for The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) blasted BLM saying the federal agency “has a sacred duty to manage our public lands in the public interest…instead it is allowing a freeloading rancher and armed thugs to seize hundreds of thousands of acres of the people’s land as their own fiefdom.” CBD is funded by Earthjustice

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s
