U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice has apologized for not calling the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, terrorist. The comments came after she failed to win over her harshest GOP critics in the Senate during a meeting with them on Tuesday. She claimed she never meant to mislead the American people, and instead used talking points given to her by the intelligence community at the time. Rice has been named as the likely successor to Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, however, several Republican senators are threatening to block her confirmation if President Obama nominates her for

"Sorry." Purger yourself in court - for any reason - and you face consequences. Propagate a lie - for any reason - and face the consequences. It doesn´t matter where she got her information, it is her personal responsibility to check the veracity of what comes out of her mouth. Drones are not qualified to be Secretary of State.

Axelrod, Jarrett, Carney and Obama should be apologizing to her. What the hell? Why was she on the talk show circuit?

They are cowards and accessories too, if McCain and his colleagues don´t pursue this to the max. This administration is the most mendacious and corrupt in all American history. Obama and Washington Democrats must not be allowed to get away with these crimes.

"failed to win over her critics" means the race/women card didn´t work.

Reply 12 - Posted by: dr.lakerman, 11/28/2012 9:14:40 AM     (No. 9037279)

Some random observations - I believe Carney yesterday said Hillary didn´t go on all those sunday news shows because she ´was upset and had lost one of her own (ambassadors)
And somewhere in the midst of all of the conflicting information, Rice said, apparently, that the secret briefings included the fact that it was a terrorist attack, that they were hot on the trail of the killers, so she lied about the video being the cause of the deaths.
This is beyond the point of silliness. The real question is why the State Department denied Sullivan the protection he requested.
It is not enough for Hillary to say she takes responsibility - she has to testify.
finally, if President Zero wants Rice as SOS, he will get his way. Reid has already annouced that the filibuster rule will be changed (probably to 51 instead of 60) and I suspect the traditional rule allowing any senator to put a hold on a nomination will also disappear.
Elections have consequences. Ask the Egyptian people. And ask the American people in a year or so.

People went to jail for the Watergate lies and there were no dead Americans. I expect this to be fully investigated but I´m guessing it will not go much farther.

Susan Rice is asked to go on 5 tv shows and talk about something outside her area of responsibility, and told what to say. And she is not suspicious? Doesn´t ask for explanations? This stretches credulity. Susan Rice says she used intelligence community talking points. So who gave those points to you Susan? Who briefed you? Who asked you to go on those shows? Name them or forget about Sec of State.

This is a tangent to the real issue. Let´s talk about what happened in Libya on Sept. 11. Hillary, where are you? Obama, what was going down in Benghazi that you don´t want to talk about?

Reply 17 - Posted by: hotrod, 11/28/2012 10:06:57 AM     (No. 9037397)

Yep, Susan Rice knew exactly what was going on. When Hillary ran for the hills, Susan would be a fool to not see she was being used. If she is that stupid she certainly is not qualified to be Secretary of State. I´m sure the Obama folks were planning on using the race card if trouble came up, so Rice was the obvious choice to put out front.

Every single one of these people are lying.
It is just a massive cover-up put in place to
help get the President re-elected. It doesn´t matter what they are lying about, or how involved each one was, or why they are lying.
Two whistle blowers spoke before a Congressional committee and broke open the whole mess. I believe that from the top down ,and the botttom up, they have concocted a story to protect the Democratic Administration and no matter how many contradictions occur, they just keep on
with their tall tales. If their story had any basis in fact. Mrs Clinton would have not disappeared from the scene since the slaughter in Benghazi. It is complicated because so many agencies and people are involved, but it comes down to a few basic
facts, and all informed citizens are aware of most or all of them, or as much as can be discerned from the available information. This cover-up makes the Watergate scandal
look like a blip.

If I had slept through yesterday, woken up this morning, and gone online, I might have thought the EDL beheaded someone. There is a lot of displacement on Twitter and FB, as if it´s all too politically difficult and socially awkward to talk about the killers´ ideology, or the place of religion in that ideology. So we talk instead about the EDL, or John Reid, or drones, or "the religion of peace" or say "Christians kill too" or "what about Anders Breivik", or, well, anything but the brute fact that the murderers, like so very many before them, shouted "Allahu

Republican senator Ted Cruz thinks he knows how to prevent Texas being swamped by demographics. The Senate amendment he is proposing on immigration reform would deny all illegal immigrants access to benefits and a pass to citizenship. The context for Cruz´s intervention is what Greg Abbott, the Republican Attorney General for Texas, last month described as "an assault far more dangerous than what the leader of North Korea threatened when he said he was going to add Austin, Texas, as one of the recipients of his nuclear weapons". That´s the threat of Texas "turning blue" (Democrat) and taking its 38

The US State Department has issued a statement in the aftermath of yesterday’s barbaric killing of a British soldier by Islamist militants in Woolwich. It reads in full: The United States condemns today’s attack in the Woolwich district of London. We stand with our U.K. allies in the face of such senseless violence. Our thoughts and condolence are with the family of the victim and the British people. This is exactly the same language President Obama used to describe the killing of the US Ambassador to Libya and three American personnel in Benghazi on

More than 100 members of far-right group the English Defence League gathered near the scene of the suspected terrorist attack last night.[Snip] Riot police holding shields formed a cordon around the area as the EDL members waved flags and chanted ´no surrender to the Muslim scum´, ‘Rule Britannia’ and ‘England’. The charity said the site had been inundated with traffic after news broke that the victim, believed to be a serving soldier, had been wearing one of its T-shirts. As news of the killing quickly spread on social media, there were calls for people to visit the site to donate, or buy T-shirts or other merchandise as a show of support. The site´s shop quickly crashed and parts were still out of action on Thursday morning. A spokesman said: "Last night with the website, there was clearly a lot of interest." Is the worm turning against Barack Obama? After four-plus years of being given the benefit of the doubt by the bulk of the US media, the President now suddenly feels more vulnerable. Today both the New York Times and the Washington Post have run prominent and angry editorials and columns slamming the administration for its attempt to criminalise a Fox News reporter James Rosen for working a State Department source to obtain a story. The "Rosen Affair"--as it is now known--is poisoning the well in Washington at an alarming rate for Mr Obama, with an indignant White House press corps

A friend of Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev implicated himself and Tsarnaev in a 2011 triple slaying just before he was killed by an FBI agent early Wednesday, NBC and CBS News are reporting. Authorities were pressuring Chechan immigrant Ibragim Todashev, 27, to make a full confession to the murders when he suddenly turned violent, according to CBS. An FBI agent responded by firing his weapon and killing Todashev. The incident happened at Todashev´s Orlando apartment, not far from Universal Studios. Initially, authorities claimed that Todashev had lunged at the agent with a knife, but they later backtracked, saying it

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
