Obama public relations effort
aims to avoid ‘fiscal cliff’

Washington Post, by David Nakamura and Zachary A. Goldfarb

The White House signaled Tuesday that it will attempt to marshal the momentum from President Obama’s reelection triumph into another victory at the negotiating table, launching a full-fledged public relations effort to avoid a “fiscal cliff” that could jolt the nation back toward recession. Administration officials said Obama will hit the road for a campaign-style series of events this week with ordinary Americans, including a visit to a toy manufacturer in suburban Philadelphia on Friday. That trip and others will be aimed at increasing pressure

Did you listen to Krauthammer today. He thinks Obama is NOT interested in the fiscal cliff - he wants to destroy the republicans. Soooo republicans - don´t cave!!!

Obama wanted this crisis - he wanted everything to wait until after the election. This is his crisis. If he wants to go over the clifff - do it! Nov ´14 is light years away. The pubbies need to hire some GOOD PR people and counter Obama´s narrative.

Public relations is a very long way from leadership. He created this problem by failing to lead for 4 years. The Republicans would be well advised to wait for him to propose a detailed plan with buy-in from Senate Democrats. My guess is that it isn´t coming. The screams in January when the tax credit checks stop will be deafening.

Obama isn´t doing anything other than the script he was born with. The Republicans, and every US citizen for that matter, had better wake up to the fact this isn´t public relations or politics as we have known it. This is raw power and Obama is going to use it. They are going to cram their Marxist crap as far down our throats as they can. The Republicans should take off the gloves and tell their constituents the truth. They´re not even going to have a filibuster and the rules are out the window. This administration and the Muslim Brotherhood are two of a kind. Watch and see.

The "Keating 5" scandal yielded the following:

"Of course I {Charles Keating} thought my $1.6 million would buy me influence {to Senators}."

Taxes are access and influence. Without a voice {TAX} to the government, why should you be heard?

A call for fewer tax payers is a call to move from a Republic and move to FASCIST AUTOCRACY!

Welcome to the Cliff, lemmings!

Whatever happened to "The President proposes, Congress disposes"?

The POTUS should be pressured to propose HIS OWN solutions first, then let Congress mess with it.

We are making the mistake of allowing the Democrats to place the onus on the GOP to come up with solutions. It´s not their job. Obama won. It´s his mess. He should propose a solution(s) and then the GOP can decide if it´s good or bad.

Why does the GOP permit itself to be pressured to come up with the first salvo? This is why we lose elections, because we cave to pressure. We´re going to get blamed anyway, so why not just let the Democrats deal with the mess THEY created?

After having thought this over, i say make Obama own this. Give him the tax increase. It won´t solve anything so what will he say then?

You need to get on the airwaves with a major primetime speech and tell the public that after careful consideration, you are going to give Obama EVERYTHING he wants. EVERYTHING. Make it VERY public, as a sort of shock and awe, Come from a power stance not a defeated stance because in actuality you will be the winner in the long run with this. And be sure to inform the talking heads what you are doing.

Do NOT save the democrats from themselves. Give them the full Monty.

You are going to be demonized whether we go over the cliff or not. When it doesnt work you can say, we tried it his way. It didnt work. Many are experiencing the effects of Obamacare personally now. Obama will NOT be popular in 2014. Make him own it.

The Brilliant Republicans and talking heads go on for hours with every bit of minutia that frames their thinking. The Dems do sound bites and slogans and repetition. Can we get a lesson? Being kinder was Bush´s plan and then spend like the Dems. They still hated him. So, the press and the Dems who want power not congeniality, will do the same. Wake up. Repeat and repeat and show a graphic that shows taking it from the rich, taking all of it, does not fund past a few months or at the most, 1 yr. So, repeat, it is because the govt spends too much not that it does not tax enough, which causes the problem. Simple. It gets through to everyone with a family budget except those who are generational dependents, aka slaves to the govt. Are we done with slavery? Can we be? Please?

The GOP just lost a-n-o-t-h-e-r election that was their`s for the taking. They couldn`t beat a failed marxist and somehow people still believe the GOP can out maneuver Obama and the Dems? Get real. The republicans will fail us once again. Taxes are going up and they`re staying up so get used to living on the edge because that`s our future.

Just one more thing... Obama said to Soviet Medvidev to tell Putin this was his last election and would have more flexibility after that. Could he mean this was the country´s last election? Look at his Muslim Bro-hood pals in Egypt and Turkey. Pharoahs, and leaders for life. Sounds good to him and the Mooch.

Obie just performed his fiscal cliff fandango in front of a backdrop of the weirdest assemblage of "middle class" persons ever. The man on his left looked like an Indian Jerry Colonna with a beard and he kept looking Obie up and down, reading his teleprompter or notes, and generally looking dorky throughout the show. Too funny - if it wasn´t our preezy, The Hopeless Won.

It´s a bit late to expect Republicans to save us all. It was our job to turn out enouh voters to save our republic. We did not do it. A lot of people stood on principle congratulating themselves for their integrity. Romney was not exactly what they wanted. Too bad for them and for the rest of us. You reap what you sow. Whatever faults the GOP had or Romney had we should have overlooked. When God referred to the Jews saying that "my people are a stiff necked people" he could have been speaking of Christians as well. There weer enough of us. We did not show up.

0bama has started a twitter scam to pressure Congress. Don´t we have anyone who can effectively ANSWER??? #My2K

I think that the only way we can answer is to say "BALANCE THE BUDGET". This namby-pamby incremental junk doesn´t sell.

Put 0bama´s spending and the tax increase side by side. His tax increase would only fund 8 days of his spending. Who can answer this crook?

0 will not offer a solution to the "fiscal cliff" problem because he and his puppeteers and Dem cronies created this problem deliberately over the years by forcing banks to fund mortgages to unqualified (mostly minority "buyers"), by creating the Sept. 11-15, 2008 "financial crisis", by blowing the $700+++ bailout money, and by giving away more and more of our taxes to the takers.

Obama and Jarrett should share equal blame as "co-presidents."

Every time I see Republican leaders on Fox they are saying they are waiting to see Obama´s plan for cuts. IMO they are trying to put the responsibility on Obama. I agree we ought to let the Dems do whatever they are going to do IF we do not get large cuts in spending. THEY need to reap what THEY sow, not the GOP.

The GOP has lost this PR game (again). Give Obama the tax raises that he wants. Let him own it. And maybe next time, the GOP can think of some coherent rebuttals before the MSM/Obama make them look dumb/mean.

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Despite promises to the contrary, it appears that State Senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) voted on bills that affect her clients and favorably impact the bottom line of her law firm. “I have never done anything in a way that represents a conflict in my voting and something that would benefit me personally,” she said in an interview, but state records seem to tell a different story. The Dallas Morning News´ Senior Political Writer Wayne Slater (DMN) reported that Davis supported legislation governing a toll road project. That would be all well and good except for the fact that the

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. But last Tuesday, Democrats lost their first election for the five-member Arlington County Board in 15 years when John Vihstadt, a Republican running as an independent, won a vacancy on

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. The Bureau of Land Management is headed by former longtime Reid aide Neil Kornze, who was confirmed by the Senate as BLM director on Tuesday, just as federal authorities descended on the cattle ranch outside Mesquite, Nev. Mr. Kornze issued a statement Saturday saying that the bureau would return the cattle and withdraw its agents from the ranch

On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

On a trip to Moscow early in her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton played the role of international saleswoman, pressing Russian government officials to sign a multibillion-dollar deal to buy dozens of aircraft from Boeing. A month later, Clinton was in China, where she jubilantly announced that the aerospace giant would be writing a generous check to help resuscitate floundering U.S. efforts to host a pavilion at the upcoming World’s Fair. Boeing, she said, “has just agreed to double its contribution to $2 million.” Clinton did not point out that, to secure the donation, the State Department

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander.
