| The House Ethics Committee said Monday that Rep. Michael Grimm is being investigated for possible campaign finance violations but will defer to the Justice Department, which is conducting a separate probe. The Republican-controlled committee said the inquiry started in July after being informed by the Office of Congressional Ethics that Grimm, R-N.Y., may have violated campaign finance laws by soliciting and accepting prohibited contributions, which might have resulted in false information being included in campaign finance reports. OK. Somebody´s got to say it. Is he a "Grimm Reaper" for aiding a possible illegal alien get a green card? Oh, he´s a Republican. Well, if Grimm suddenly disappears and shows up at the psych ward at the Mayo Clinic, this charge may have traction. At the very least, it would show that we can follow the dRATS "example," while cutting a deal with whoever.

For heaven sake, don´t resign over a little investigation.

Only one winning ticket for a record U.S. Powerball lottery jackpot worth $590.5 million was sold in Florida, organizers said, but there was no official word about who won it. The winning numbers from Saturday night´s drawing were: 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball number of 11, and the odds of winning were put at one in 175 million. New York - Police say a gunman used anti-gay slurs before fatally shooting a 32-year-old man in New York City´s Greenwich (GREN´-ich) Village. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Saturday that the shooting, which occurred just after midnight, appears to have been a hate crime. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men.
