| The Hill has an interesting story reporting on Republican governors refusing to set up state exchanges under Obamacare–which could save the states money since they are on the hook for costs in excess of federal grants. That means the Feds will have to do it on a state-by-state basis, a daunting task even for this highly bureaucratic administration. Plus, it is perfectly legal under the law to engage in such passive resistance. Some liberals say that approach isn’t conservative because, in effect, it allows the Feds to run state health care. (As if they care!) I’m not buying.

States shouldn´t touch it. But about half will anyway; the urge to expand bureaucracies burns among in state employees and politicians too.
The idea that the state which sets up an exchange will have the slightest power is laughable. Only pols and some media would try to sell that lie to the people.

Forget about governors not cooperating. Just wait till millions of citizens start "not cooperating" in ways beyond Obamacare. They have no idea what they are unleashing.
I see massive civil disobedience in our future. What happens when people not only don´t enroll in these plans but also refuse to pay the absurd fines? Will they come and drag us away to debtor prisons? What if we resist? What if we start shooting at those who come to drag us away? What if armed neighbors come to our defense too? What if they send in the National Guard...and the National Guard troops side with us?
No. This will not be forced down our throats. This will be Concord Bridge II.

Americans should all move to Red states. Democrats should all congregate in Blue states. Then let´s see who does best, and who starts to whine about Red states having an "unfair advantage" so that Red state wealth can be confiscated and "redistributed" to Blue states. It would be a most telling experiment.

The IRS is supposed to be the enforcer.
Not one person has as yet been hired by the IRS to do the enforcing and the IRS has its hands full just trying to manage its present duties under the idiotic rules that have been forced upon it.

#10, I do believe that the IRS has recently hired 4,500 -- 4,000 are agents -- to enforce Obamacare. This, of course, is just the first round of hiring.

In order for the IRS to enforce this,it would have to be simplified and we´re already seeing how contorted the law is.What happens when an earned income mom is due a $4000 refund? How can they claim they can´t afford a premium or fine? Meanwhile if you´re single with no kids and barely scraping by,you´ll have to pay the fine?

If Republicans on the Hill were smart, they would offer to cut costs by not hiring the 16,000 IRS agent enforcers. Easy way to connect with the people.

Obama War Room: Healthcare Bear
OBAMA: HHS, what´ve you come up with so far to reduce life expectancy and keep costs down? KATHLEEN SEBELIUS: Our databases have every physician´s roster of seniors, their age, maladies, so forth. We´ll assign attrition goals to each doctor. Meet or exceed natural deaths quotas and earn a bonus. OBAMA: Good. Those who don´t cooperate we´ll replace with poorly trained physician assistants. Anything else? SEBELIUS: A flu shot lottery. Fifty million doses ordered, max, for 2013. A one in six chance to get the shot. No exceptions for kids or seniors. OBAMA: That it? SEBELIUS: A promotion: for every elderly relative who signs a living will leaving life and death decisions to the caregiver, your wait for any elective procedure is reduced a month. OBAMA: Nice. Anyone else? TIM GEITHNER: Close local hospitals. Establish mega health complexes in the worst urban neighborhoods. Suburbans will be afraid to come into the city for care. Less strain on resources. OBAMA: Still, what about people living longer despite our best efforts? SEBELIUS: Covered. Section 6402, (A) (2) (b) (1) (c) automatically enrolls people in "Dying with Dignity" programs when they hit 60. OBAMA: Gimme two more. DAVID PLOUFFE: Make smoking cool and inexpensive again. Give tobacco growers subsidies; make cigarettes food-stamp eligible. When no one´s looking, slip into the PPACA a clause limiting treatment for those who´ve ignored warnings about the filthy habit. DAVID AXELROD: Nationalize drug companies. Put cancer research on a back burner and launch a crash program to develop a whole new range of placebos. OBAMA: Great! Remember, our ultimate goal is to encourage people to flee to Canada for their health care.

#12, I am a tax preparer. It´s my understanding that any premium or fine will come out of any refund. If there is no refund, we are to provide the taxpayer´s bank account info so that the IRS can seize it directly. Never, never, never give your bank info to the IRS.

You know, it´s no wonder that some people have been "stuck on stupid" for centuries, never fully understanding what REAL freedom is about.
Americans educated before 1977 know. It has taken 100 years but the truly sick in this world (whose beliefs are never about real principles, imho, but about their own insecurities, narcissistic fulfillment and culture envy) have once again attempted to destroy true freedom. We shall see if they succeed.
And the irony is, those who have voted for this silent coup, are going to get nothing of what they think they "deserve". It´s laughable. In the end, there is only one way to describe those attempting this coup, who "think they know best": They are motivated in part, imho, from base and lower selves. And from the place of "misery loves miserable company". They are not motivated from the highest and best self, so to speak, although many may think they are. Have they EVER stopped to examine their own motivations? Because in the end, they most always end up hurting the very ones they believe they are "helping"(read controlling).
And so now they think we are all going to be miserable with them, no? As this article describes, don´t bet on it. G-d bless America.

Read Henry David Thoreau´s brilliant "Civil Disobedience." The feds put him in jail because he refused to pay a six-cent tax to pay for the Mexican-American war. He wrote CD in jail: "But a government in which the majority rule in all cases cannot be based on justice." CD inspired Mahatma Gandhi, and he brought the British Empire to its knees. CD inspired Martin Luther King, and he brought southern Democrats to their knees. My governor has refused to cooperate with Obamacare. Sanctuary cities. Sanctuary states. Let the blue states continue to rot from within.

Our side needs to prepare: the Obama admin is about to spend a TON of money and time on a media outreach campaign about "how wonderful Obamacare is and what YOU GET because of it."
I have a sinking feeling that the conservative side will just screech on the sidelines instead of countering this media onslaught with mainstream-aimed PR efforts of our own. One painful lesson we should learn from Nov 6: if we just hunker down in conservative corners (TV shows, radio programs, online sites) and do not try to persuade another 10%-20% of everybody else, we will lose. Why? Because the other side is engaged in mega propaganda, never ending campaign, 24/7.

I think these Governors who refuse to create the state insurance exchanges are smarter than this (and other) journ-o-lister realize.
I recall, shortly after 0dumbocare passed, that the clause reads "...subsidies for participants is state insurance exchanges..."
So, if the states refuse, and the feds have to "create" the insurance exchange, then those do not qualify for the subsidy.
If the House stands steadfast, and refuses to allocate funds for 0dumbocare, where will Duh Wun´s (and the Dims) approval rating be then.

One of the lessons I learned from "Atlas Shrugged" was the importance of consent and approval to socialists/statists/communists. They´ll even beat you bloody to get you to say, "OK - love your ideas."
They love us to argue and fight with them because it gives them another opportunity to beat us bloody until we give in. And they don´t care how long it takes because whenever we engage them we give them credibility and power over us.
What they crave is consent, and in their warped minds arguing and engaging is consent. Don´t give them the time of day.
Wave them off with your hand in disgust. Laugh in their face. Walk away. Live your life and the hell with them.

The doctor said if I had answered " yes" the follow up queations were what type of birth control and protection did I use, and was the sex with women, men or both. Doctors no longer take notes, it all goes into an obamacare laptop. So much for doctor/patient privacy.

Obama is a self imposed dictator and should be removed from office. If only we had Representatives with the courage to be statesmen and not just two-bit politicians who love themselves more than America.

#36 I guess you´re saying that we should (individually) refuse to pay the fine incurred by not obeying ObamaCare diktats.
But you do realize that the IRS will be empowered to garnish our wages or bank accounts, in order to steal that money from us?
You might be right that if millions of us refused to pay, we could slow down the IRS considerably. However I have to believe they´d get around to punishing all of us, eventually.
The best solution is for governors to engage in "passive resistance" ... which isn´t so passive after all. This strategy has the best chance of forcing ObamaCare to collapse under its own weight.

The government’s chief auditor on Wednesday said President Obama’s health care overhaul is in danger of missing key October deadlines, raising concerns it could be the nightmare that Republicans and even some Democratic lawmakers have feared of late. In one study released Wednesday, the Government Accountability Office offered a mixed review of the Obama administration efforts to make sure the “exchanges” — insurance markets where individuals and businesses can shop for health plans — will be open for enrollment

Journalist Michael Hastings was killed early Tuesday morning in a bizarre car incident in Los Angeles. Hastings, 33, was best known for writing the Rolling Stone story that ended in Gen. Hastings’ final story, “Why Democrats Love to Spy on Americans,” was a searing take on the NSA snooping scandal, which Hastings described as “North Korea-esque.” Hastings pulled no punches as he linked the NSA scandal to the Department of Justice’s spying on reporters and the IRS abuse scandal. The Supreme Court ruled today in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council that federal law does not allow states the option of requiring voters to prove they are American citizens when they register to vote. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA, or “Motor Voter”) creates a standardized national system for registering to vote in federal elections. It allows for registration three ways: (1) in person, (2) when you get your driver’s license, or (3) by mail. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC, created by a later federal law in 2002)

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
