With the reelection of President Obama secured, Washington Post economics reporter Zachary Goldfarb finally identifies “the bedrock belief that has driven the president for decade” (or Obama’s “driving force,” per the web edition). That bedrock belief is that the power of the federal government must be used reduce income inequality in America. According to Goldfarb, Obama formed this belief as a child and young adult living abroad, where he observed, in Obama’s words, “the vast disparity in wealth between those who are part of the power structure and those who are outside of it.”
Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, the Clinton´s, John Kerry Heinz, Joe Biden, Al Gore and the Kennedys, to name a few, are part of the power structure. They live better then the majority of the taxpayers who pay their way. They will have pensions and healthcare that we will never have. With all that they have, they still want to tax us more and 47 percent pay no income tax, but ensure that these parasites keep getting elected.
Capitalist´s want to narrow the difference between the have´s and the have not´s just as Socialist do, just with a different approach. We say let capitalism allow those on the bottom of the economic ladder to climb up the ladder. They say, bring those on the top of the ladder down to the level of those on the bottom. Clearly, capitalism would seem to be the better approach...unless your goal is not to improve the life of your citizens, but to improve the amount of power you have as a Socialist politician.
It is not real...it is all fake. His "redistribution" is really from the middle class to the uber-wealthy Democrats in bed with the government. Even if you give more goodies to the poor, they don´t end up better off...they actually end up with less buying power because of the effects of inflation, a stagnant economy, and higher energy costs. The middle-class is the biggest loser. They not only will lose buying power, but their savings and investments become worth less and taxes from every direction eats up what is left. The uber-wealthy (which are predominately democrat and leftists) will end up with more money, power and influence. Yes, socialism only helps the rich in power. Small businesses will die because they can´t compete against the cronyism that benefits the chosen mega-multinational corporations who are friends and contributors to the government. It is all a lie. Obama doesn´t care one wit for the poor. Socialism is self-serving for the elite.

Here´e my bumper sticker idea: Redistribute the Presidency. Now.
The actress Janine Turner, from Northern Exposure fame, wrote a great article a while back on what we & her fellow celebrities would actually live like if they get their socialist way. This has to be exposed before it´s too late. We have to start talking all over the web, media, our neighborhoods, etc.
We must never stop trying to educate those around us while we still can, and while this slide to socialist oblivion is still reversible. I had a futile discussion with my Union Rep cousin in San Fran last week. But the people around us were all listening.
She said, "You know why Katrina happened, don´t you?"
I told her "Yeah, I do -- the Federal money given to Louisiana for fortifying the levies was misappropriated. The govt cronies (she loved that word) thought they could do a facelift & the levies would never be tested like they were & they failed."
She blustered around mumbling that it was GW´s fault. But she said nothing to prove it. The others in that small chocolate store´s Open House were listening, though. We must keep educating everyone with the truth. The MSM isn´t gong to doit for us. I. Am. Breitbart.
Of course he is a "redistributionist" (the real word is Socialist - anyone who believes wealth is the State´s to distribute in the first place, not the property of free individuals). But the key to the entire thing is understanding the motive behind this "redistribution". As with everything Left, the language used ("fairness" "equality") is a smokescreen for the actual agenda. What drives a Socialist like Obama is a burning, white hot desire to punish the successful, the achievers, the affluent, the self-made men who refuse to trade their integrity for a miserable life of collective liberal guilt (or, as socialists call it, "helping people"). Punishing people is the driving force. See that, and you´ve unlocked their secret.
IMHO, two things drive, or matter to, Obama. Many others on the left are the same.
1. Power-lust. 2. Antipathy to those who achieve on merit [and the more they accomplish, the greater his hate].
For those like Obama, who have accomplished nothing on personal ability, merit, and effort, the animus toward achievers is bone deep, bitter, and personal. Obama knows, consciously or unconsciously, he flatly does not deserve his position and rewards.
And his "Leftism" is a matter of convenience, not conviction. If he could get more power as a free-marketer, that´s what he´d push. Count on it.
If Obama´s a redistributionist,he´s not doing a very good job at it. The gap between rich and poor is getting wider every day.Obama and the left aren´t that interested in redistribution as they are at destroying the white middle class because that´s where most republicans are.
The liberals pretend to be in favor of taxes on the rich, while behind the scenes they funnel billions to already rich people. The amount of money "poor" people get is mere tokenism to string them along.
It´s not only people wanting a government cash dividend but standing in line for loan forgiveness of all types.Obama got his claws into college students when he took over the loan industry.Since then tuitions have exploded making the college admins and professors very happy with their new income source.
Liberal rackets and schemes are always to enrich the ruling class types, while pretending to help society´s victims.Meanwhile society´s victims stay stagnant.
Regional “revenue sharing" has been a way of life here in Cook County. The suburbs that are a part of Cook County have always subsidized Chicago. I assumed that this is true in every county controlled by Dems and if it isn´t, it will be.
The entertainment/sports celebrities & career politicians -- who have never worked as hard as the middle class business owners, blue-collars, & workers for corporations -- feel guilty for having so much money while the rest of us work our @sses off.
Solution for all that guilt, as maids, nannies, chefs, body guards, etc., serve them? Ask the government to redistribute wealth -- since they can´t seem to part with their money on their own. Deep down they know the masses pay the tickets to be entertained by them & make them wealthy. But they are too selfish, or have no self discipline, to figure out a way to hand out their own mullah.
They have no idea what they are doing to our country & how badly this will go down. When is the the last time we saw a great movie out of Russia? Solaris is the only one I´ve seen in three decades. It was done around the time 2001 was. China´s only doing slightly better because of our trade with them.
When our wealth goes, so will the countries that depend on it for their own economy. We need to speak to them through their own genre. Movies, programs -- on their stations, not FOX. We have four years to do it.
Tea party groups and fiscal conservatives wasted no time Wednesday in savaging a bipartisan budget agreement negotiated between House Republicans and Senate Democrats, drawing an unusually angry response from House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. All sides were rating the winners and losers in the deal struck a day earlier between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, Washington Democrat. The modest deficit-cutting deal had some sweeteners for defense contractors and oil drillers, while air travelers, federal workers and some corporate executives would take a hit.
The White House blasted Republicans on Wednesday for criticizing President Obama’s decision to shake hands with Cuban leader Raul Castro. “There used to be a pretty important principle, that originated in the Republican Party, I believe, that partisan politics should stop at the water’s edge,” said White House deputy press secretary Joshua Earnest. “It’s unfortunate that we did see a number of Republicans yesterday who criticized the president for a handshake.” Mr. Obama shook hands with Mr. Castro on stage in South Africa at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela on Tuesday. The U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with
FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio — It doesn’t take long to realize that Jim Majoros is passionate about his job, as he ponders the hue of a new hunting rifle he’s working on. “I’m going to call it ‘Persephone,’ ” he said, referring to the Greek goddess. “It’s going to be light green in color, you know, more soft, but for women who want to hunt.” Business is brisk for gunsmiths such as Majoros, who repairs and customizes firearms in this small Lake Erie beach town east of Cleveland. This year, more than 82,000 new concealed-carry weapons licenses were issued in Ohio
House Republicans appeared Wednesday to be rallying around an $85 billion deal to avert another government shutdown, brushing off complaints from their right wing that the effort would trade immediate spending cuts for less-certain long-term savings. After conducting a series of closed-door briefings and polling members during a late-afternoon vote, GOP leadership aides confidently predicted that the deal struck between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) would sail through the House when it comes to a vote Thursday. The moment seemed to mark a potentially significant shift by House Republicans away
A year that began with President Barack Obama riding high after his re-election victory and inauguration ends with him in the biggest hole of his presidency. A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds the president with more Americans disapproving of his job performance than ever before; with half saying they’re either disappointed or dissatisfied with his presidency; and with 54% believing he’s facing a long-term setback. Perhaps more significantly, Obama has seen a drop in key presidential attributes, such as being honest and straightforward, being able to handle a crisis and being able to achieve his goals. “These are
The federal health-care law is becoming a heavier political burden for President Barack Obama and his party, despite increased confidence in the economy and the public´s own generally upbeat sense of well-being, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll suggests. Disapproval of Mr. Obama´s job performance hit an all-time high in the poll, at 54%, amid the flawed rollout of the health law. Half of those polled now consider the law a bad idea, also a record high. The survey of 1,000 adults conducted between Dec. 4 and Dec. 8 found a sharp erosion since January in many of the
House and Senate negotiators announced Tuesday evening a $1.012 trillion two-year budget deal to replace some of the automatic spending sequester budget cuts and avert another government shutdown in January. Rep. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, said the two-year plan is a win for Republicans since it reduces the deficit by $23 billion without raising taxes or sacrificing core conservative values. “As a conservative, I think this is a step in the right direction. What am I getting out of this? I’m getting more deficit reduction. So the deficit will go down more by passing this than if we did nothing,”
New York — The anchor who might beat Bill O’Reilly gets her eyelash extensions applied one at a time, with tweezers and dabs of glue, about 90 minutes before showtime, right after a motorized gun sprays foundation over her face, neck, shoulders, collarbone and sternum, wiping out a galaxy of light freckles that spreads across her — Let me stop you right there. Photos of the day Uruguay legalizes marijuana, Kiev police pull back from protesters, aging U.S. prison population and more. Tuesday´s Photos of the day Would you write this way about a man? About O’Reilly himself? At least that’s what Megyn Kelly might ask at
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
In August 2013 I became very sick with what I thought was a cold. After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee. Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday. Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday. The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed. Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
