When it comes to attracting business to California´s eastern deserts, Inyo County is none too choosy. Since the 19th century the sparsely populated county has worked to attract industries shunned by others, including gold, tungsten and salt mining. The low cost of natural gas power plants makes all of these commercial solar power plant schemes uneconomic except in Hawaii.

Jerry Brown needs to jump into the ocean and stay there. I lived in the area east of LA and there were these great wind machines that never turned except maybe once or twice during the ´winter´. Too expensive and worthless.

It´s no secret that solar power is uneconomic, and guess what greenies, that means somebody has to pay for it.
The counties should be able to break even, whatever nutbars are funding the solar projects need to build and maintain their own roads, etc.

"...tax revenue would be a fraction of the customary amount because portions of the plant qualifiy [sic] for a solar tax exclusion."
In case anyone needs a definition of "urban parasite" it is these people who demand product but make laws that harm those who produce.

This is the same state that wouldn´t let you bury a pipeline for oil or erect a powerline across those God forsaken deserts but doesn´t seem to mind hundreds of acres of metal and glass completely covered over. I´ll bet they are inconveniencing some type of lizard with all that litter.

The environazis are assisting the crooks to rip off the taxpayers in the biggest government assisted scam in many decades. Solar power is wildly uneconomic and these whackjob liars have to do everything they can to kill normal energy like natural gas and oil, which are being developed at a HUGE rate.
They are desperate to stop cheap energy and force us to pay these criminals billions for stupid "green" energy. Green = expensive and unreliable.

#1 adds perspective. Solar, like nearly anything else, might be the best solution somewhere and sometime.
Where all fuel or other power must be imported at high expense. Or where the location is suitable for virtually nothing else.
But when you see governments pushing massive installations of the wrong technology you are not looking at an energy program, you are witnessing a mania. And one nearly always manifested through massive corruption.
So many of these alternatives projects don´t even work to specifications. Even when the specifications were laughable to start with.

Since the power is all going to LA and environs, no development in the desert should be allowed until every rooftop and backyard in LA is covered with solar panels. Then, if development is allowed out in the desert, the solar companies should bear the full cost of the projects and infrastructure AND REMEDIATION OF THE SITE ONCE THE PROJECT GOES BELLY UP. This is standard for most private projects anywhere else in the USA.

Former Congressman Jesse Jackson isn´t the only member of the house getting looked at by the feds, according to one published report. The Chicago Sun-Times, citing sources, reported Monday that federal investigators are also taking an independent look at former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson. Sandi Jackson acknowledged to NBC Chicago back in December that state officials had questioned her about a $69,000 discrepancy between her campaign finance reports and those of her husband. She blamed the conflict on clerical errors made by transitioning staff members and said amendments to her reports were being made Content added by staff

The U.S Board of Immigration Appeals has agreed to reopen the immigration case of Onyango Obama, delaying the deportation of the 68-year old Kenyan who violated an order to leave the United States in 1992. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a division of the Department of Homeland Security, confirmed to CNSNews.com on Tuesday that Obama, who is the president’s uncle, was granted a rehearing last week and his case is being re-opened.

LOS ANGELES — It’s not easy to find a fresh way to photograph Oprah Winfrey. That’s why the editors of O, The Oprah Magazine, recently tried to create a shot that recalled the glory days of Ms. Winfrey’s syndicated talk show. They arranged to photograph her for its April 2013 issue as she stepped onstage to speak to 5,000 attendees at the magazine’s annual conference, a New Age slumber party of sorts for women held at the convention center here last month.

Standing behind the liquor store counter the man quietly and anonymously goes about his job serving customers. He had arrived for his shift promptly at 3pm after filling up his gleaming silver Toyota Rav 4 with gas and taking out the trash at his modest two-storey yellow clapboard house in a downtrodden Massachusetts neighbourhood. This a fascinating glimpse into the life of Onyango ‘Omar’ Obama, 68, the half-uncle of Barack Obama - and an illegal immigrant who Mitt Romney has already signalled should be deported if he wins his bid for the Presidency today.

A CIA document outlining a Mafia-connected plan to assassinate Cuban leader Fidel Castro for $150,000 is among thousands of Robert F. Kennedy documents made public Thursday, just days before the 50th anniversary of the Cuban missile crisis. In the 1964 plan, the mob and "patriotic Cuban exiles" eventually settled on a payment of $100,000 for assassinating Castro, $20,000 for his brother Raúl and $20,000 for revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara, plus $2,500 for expenses.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
